| Some of it is still around. I don't play often but last time I was let through by two guys walking,(I had an electric cart) then I joined another couple to play the remaining holes. Made for a fun day and I made some new friends as well.

Too bad you dont need training on how to behave on the course before you can play - slow and clueless bugs me.
But still a great game.

| I don't know where manners have gone but there is not enough of them going around. I have a 6 1/2 month old boy and I guarantee he will learn manners. I have a friend with a girl who is 8 and she chews her food with her mouth open, it drives me nuts. Sorry for the high jack.

| I find it funny when people look at me funny when I hold a door for them. It is a sad day when we as a society are shocked when someone attempts to do acts of kindness. I think the etiquette we first discussed on the golf course is worse than manners and courtesies, but I agree those manners and courtesies have diminished as well.

I don't think manners are all that way side from etiquette. And I couldn't agree more. My wife and I were shocked the other day when a young man (10 y/o) walked in front of us and said excuse me. That fact that we were shocked by that is a sad sign.
What happened to kids saying "Yes sir", "No ma'am", "Excuse me"....heck....even Thank You!

I remember the day when you had to wear a collared shirt and pants. I remember the day when you let quicker groups through. I remember the day when you invited a single to join your threesome. I remember the day everyone wearing spikes and not damaging the greens. But I don't remember the day I got old.
You are not alone. Etiquette has been lost for some time now.
I know this is a little of topic but manors are going to the way side also( in general )

I don't play alot, but I agree.
But I think you can see it everywhere else too.
Common courtesy in general seems to be a thing of the past.

You are definitely not alone on this. We deal with this every weekend. The group that thinks they've paid to take as much time as they want. It's their time, blah blah blah.
One of the things I do with all my lessons is work etiquette and rules. Especially with beginners. There's a reason the rule book has an appendix just for etiquette. The worst thing the PGA Tour has done, is not enforce a proper pace of play policy.
New players watch the Tour and see players mark 2 foot putts, step back, look at them , survey them, etc. I understand they're playing for a million $. But most amateurs don't get that. So they mark all their stuff, etc.
Anyway...you can see, I'm sick of all the "golfers" who don't have proper etiquette. Including those who don't repair divots, fix ball marks, etc.

Is it me, or has almost all golf etiquette been vanquished from the golf course. It is frustrating to be behind people that are mving really slow, but won't let you pass. People who believe they are Tiger Woods and then have no respect for the golf course whatsoever.
Etiquette sounds like a snobby word, and I don't want to sound like I am whining, but as a long time golfer, I remember days when I could golf at my pace, not the pace of the husband and wife with their three kids that won't let me pass them making my 4 hour relaxing round take 6 frustrating hours.
Am I alone on this.
