| I got the same issue. My work clothes are starting to get baggy. I am just out of college and can't afford all new clothes. Luckily I have smaller casual clothes. O well... I kind of can't wait until my tight clothes get baggy too.

I have a funny story to share with you all.
In early April we were returning home from holidays in Florida. I was wearing my fat shorts which are a size 38 and I am about a 34 to 35 size now. So my belt is doing a great deal of work keeping these shorts on.
Well I go through security at the airport and I set off the buzzer. The guard sweeps me with the wand and says "undo you belt". OK, picture this: A crowded airport, it seems like everyone is watching (but of course they aren't). I figure no problem, I'll hold my shorts up until I can get my belt done back up. Then the guard says "spread your arms". Ohoh... I see my wife snickering as she waits for me. So I spread my legs apart hoping that will help keep my shorts up. Lifted my arms. He did his scan and THANK GOD, my shorts only slid down a little bit. Whew.
I had a picture of me standing there as my shorts slide to the floor.
SO I need a new pair of shorts (or two).

hey guys!
thrift stores are a great idea. unlike alot of you i dont have to wear a suit to work just black jeans and a shirt. i have found ross had some great deals i got some jeans for 10 and 13 dollars that are really good and fit great. i also think kohls is a great place to shop they are decently priced and always have alot of sales going on. i love to hit up sale racks

| Yep I second the thrift store visits, you'll save money and be able to get you through till its time to get smaller clothes again. Save the shopping for new and extra nice clothes till when you reach your goal weight so they will hopefully be discarded from wearing out instead of no longer fitting you.

| People at work used to make fun of me for waering tight clothes. Now they are amazed at how baggy my pants are since dropping 30 pounds. I've been worried about buying new stuff, but I guess it'll be motivation to keep the weight off!

|
|
| I drive my uniform guy crazy this is the 3rd time in the last 8 years I bug him about every 6 weeks to either drop or go up a size this time I will only go down 3 is a charm I keep one size up and one size down just in case good luck with your problem

| Try buying pants with an elastic wasitband. Pick a size where you are at the maximum stretch(but comfortable). The band will conform with your shrinking waist. When there is no more elastic stretch use a belt for a while. This tactic should extend the life of your pants without the hassle and cost of tailoring.

| I missed DRTBK4EVER response. I bought my suits at Men's Warehouse, and since the suits were already altered once, they do all future alterations for free. Until now, I've never had to take advantage of that policy. Kind of glad they've got it, now.

| I just picked up one pair of slacks from the tailor, and it's already a little too loose. Took in 4 more pair last night.

I've only officially been on Spark for a week, due to a nice little gentleman's wager with a couple friends. But, my first week worked out to a net loss over over 8 pounds. Absolutely astounding (and my wife said "I'm disgusted...") any way you look at it.
Well, last night as I was getting ready for bed, I removed my belt and realized how loose my jeans were, and pulled them completely off without undoing the zipper or button. I started laughing so much that my wife came in to ask what I was laughing about, and was met with another "That's just not fair...." comment.
I'm not at the point where I'm buying new clothes, as I'm sure I have some of my smaller clothes still in storage, which I will surely get out. But, I go a couple more weeks like this, and the jeans I had on last night (2 pair, exactly alike) will more than likely end up being sent on a mission trip somewhere....
Oh, and as a tip. I totally agree with whoever said go to Walmart or Target and buy some cheap ones. I used to do that for work when I KNEW I was going to get a pair ruined. It was worth the 12-18 bucks to just buy a new pair that COULD be ruined, than ruin a good pair of 40-60 dollar pants.... The same could be said of weight loss, if you're looking at a 3-4 month wear-cycle.

I just had all my suit pants taken in. Cost me $240 for 8 pairs of pants. Apparently they not only took in the waist, they did the butt and crotch too, hence the extra cost.
Money well spent.

| I hit all the good thrift stores in the area. Also a few stores are great for clearance purchases. Target seems to mark stuff down fast, Kohl's is the same way. We just had a Ross open near us and that store is a bargain hunters dream =)

Fortunately, I'm in a stage where I can wear jeans almost all of the time. I do have a couple of pair of older ones that are getting too loose to wear that will end up going to the thrift store, but the others are still usable. I have a couple of pair of 36s that have been hanging in the closet for about 10 years (from when I was on the way up) that should be wearable in about 10 more pounds or so.
Meanwhile, shop Wal Mart, Name Brand Clothing (and the like), and maybe a thrift store or two. When you get to a milestone, reward yourself with a nice pair of slacks. I plan on doing that at 230 (the half way point on the scale below).
Meanwhile, keep on truckin'....

Yeah, I'm a fan of getting pants taken in by a tailor.
It perhaps doesn't look quite as good as getting a pair of pants designed for that size in the first place, but I think for $10 or $15 it's pretty good value in extending their useful life.
Call me cheap. :-)

| Oh, you mean Loose Clothes. Im not worrying too much about that because I got clothes from when I was 180 on up in my closet. But I do have a pretty large wardrobe of big clothes, so I guess I may need to get them tailored when the time comes.

My 36" are bagging at the rear now. I still can't wear my 36 slim cut in public.
I can get into them but you can tell my sex and religous persuasion still

| I started at a size 50, now down to a 46. I bought a pair of 44" they other day, looking forward to when they will fit loose. Just buy a couple of pair at a time until you start to slow down. I am looking forward to getting down to a 36" as I was in school.

| When I started spark I was wearing size 42 pants-I am now in size 36.I have given away all my size 42 and size 40 pants (over 50 pairs)to Goodwill.Fortunately my wife knows where all of the special clothing sales are so I now have 8 pairs and a dozen shirts that I can wear that were all bought at half price or less but are brand new and fit me well.I hate buying clothes-my wife has to force me to go with her to try on the clothes at the store-but this is the only way to ensure that they really fit and will not need to be returned.

Look into what it might cost to have a tailor take those pants in for you.
Chances are it will be $10 to $15 which will get you through the next few months.
I am going to have to do that with all my suit pants which is a pain in the ... But it is a good problem to have?
To make matters worse, I have been working out my upper body and now my suit jackets are getting tight across the back/shoulders. Bummer, I didn't expect that.

I know what you mean. I Threw out a bunch of old pants, and now I'd be able to fit into them again. I have to buy a size bigger than I really wear, as my legs are pretty muscular, and my "real" pants size is too tight on them. The scale isn't moving much here, but my cloths are getting loose. My wife on the other hand has become one with the sewing machine and has been taking her pants in almost once a month.

Hey Bill,
This is a tough call. My wife and I spent $5,000 the first year we lost weight. I had to buy all new clothes about every 30 pounds or so. I started at size 40 pants, bought new ones when I hit 36, and again at 32/34. I tried to make them last as long as I could, but I just wasn't looking good for work with my pants sagging down so low.
try to make them last as long as possible. Buy a couple pairs of "cheap" pants from target or walmart or something. That won't hurt your wallet so bad.

| Started at 40 and now I am around a 38 and all my clothes feel lose. In the past every time I would lose weight and a size I would get new clothes and then in a few weeks I would be back in my old clothes. Finally last year I cleaned out my closet of all my skinny'er clothes that I had not touched in a while and now I am in the same situation again. So this stinks....I am thrilled to lose the weight but almost feel like I will be cursing myself if I get clothes now... Not to mention my goal is a lot less then where I am now I was also thinking maybe getting a nice pair of shorts in a size i want to fit in to. Sounds like something the ladies would do huhh??? LOL
