I agree with an 8 team playoff. However, I don't see it happening as long as there is so much money in the bowls. It is an idea that just makes too much sense for the NCAA to implement.

An 8 team playoff would be the best thing for college football to determine who really is the national champ.

This season was yet another example of why college football needs a playoff. If Hawaii beats Georgia, that will be another one.

LSU is a great team. However, Florida's offense is nothing like Missouri's. Daniel has at least five weapons on the field everytime he takes a snap, not counting his own ability to take off and pick up a few yards. Tebow has done an incredible job running the football, and his feat of 20 td passes and 20 rushing td's may not be equaled ever. Still, the versatility of the MU offense to strike gold from anywhere on the field is a dimension that no one else brings to the table. Their defense on the other hand is a different story. Other teams have tried to blitz Daniel and only got burned.

I don't know about that, but it would be tough.

Florida's offense is like Missouri's on steroids.

LSU just seems to sleepwalk until they really need to start playing, then they make the plays they have to. LSU would make Missouri very one dimensional, and that would be a bad thing with Jackson and Dorsey pinning their ears back on the pass rush.

When they want to turn it up to that next level they can be so nasty.

At least with OSU, LSU knows what it's facing. I can't speak for the jayhawks, since i don't follow them as closely as i do the tigers. The Mizzou offense is a nightmare to defend. It would be more of a challenge than LSU has faced all year.

Exactly, I don't see LSU losing but you never know. They could get beat in the SEC title game by someone like Georgia. It's possible but not likely. I really don't want to see Ohio St in the title game. I'd love to have a newbie like Kansas or Mizzou in there.

OSU is only in if LSU loses. With the way that they struggled against the Illini, I would love to see the Tigers or beakers face them in the BCS championship game.

I'm a huge Kentucky fan. We're 7-4 but have been disappointing the past month. We're favored against Tennessee probably for the first time in about 23 years.

If we beat Tennessee we'll probably be in the Cotton Bowl.

COOP, Ohio St could easily find themselves back in the national title game with a LSU loss or a few other possible scenarios. I'd like to see the best Big 12 team take on LSU in the title game.
COOP9002

OSU is out of the picture. I think that you underestimate the strength of the Big 12 north. The winner of the KU/MU game will beat either OU or Texas convincely for the Big 12 title. I don't see LSU losing either this weekend or at the SEC title game. LSU vs the Big 12 champ is my pick.

For the National Championship, I'm going with OSU and WV. Kansas and Missouri obviously cancel out, and the winner of that one will lose the Big 12 Championship. LSU will suffer a similar fate in the SEC Championship. The Big East and Big 10 do not have a conference championship, so that would leave them. Now, I'm not backing up any of these projections with statistics; it's just the way this season has been going. The upset has definitely been common. App. State and Michigan? Stanford and USC? South Florida and WV? OSU and Illinois? Arizona and Oregon? I'm confident that this trend won't change.

You have to wonder what the outcome would've been had Dixon not gotten hurt and played the entire game. Tough break for Dixon's Heisman campaign and the Ducks national championship run.

There's no doubt that whoever comes out alive from the Big 12 trio (Kansas, Mizzou, OU) will play in the national title game. The question is which of the three wins out and who joins them if LSU loses one more game? What would be even more controversial would be if Michigan beats Ohio St leaving the other big one loss team with another loss.
COOP9002

Last night's upset was a surprise. It's a tough break for Dixon. Hopefully, he'll be able to recover and continue his career at the next level.

Obviously, this opens the door for KU, MU & OU. Like you I am pulling for the Tigers. Hopefully, they don't suffer a letdown against the Wildcats on Saturday.

What an upset last night huh? That really throws open the mix. I am a Missouri fan (having been born and raised in the state) and heard the we have a chance to play in the championship game. Of course, we have to go through Kansas and Oklahoma but both of those games will be on nuetral ground (I think). Anyway, I'm just kind of curious to know what kind of buzz Missouri is getting across the nation because I know we have a lot of homers in our state.

My hope for this season is that there are many two loss teams at the end of the year which will lead to a ton of controversy over who should be playing for the national championship. So I hope Michigan and Penn St beat OSU, Virginia Tech beats Boston College, Cal or Oregon beat USC, someone beats LSU again, etc.

Controversy = closer to playoff system.

Well there you have it as another top team falls again. The sad thing is I think even if South Florida went undefeated, I don't think they would have made it into the championship game over bigger name one-loss teams. I hope this crazy season continues and at the end of the season there are four or more worthy teams which will lead into even more playoff talk!

We'll see but I doubt it. I think they're going to lose at Rutgers on Thursday night. If they can get through the Rutgers game unscathed, however, then there's a very good chance they'll end up undefeated.

Yet another crazy weekend in college football with #1 and #2 going down. Luckily I got home to watch the LSU/Kentucky game as it headed into the third OT. The BCS rankings are out and if the season ended today the national championship game would be Ohio St vs. South Florida lol.

Well for those of us that still claim our alma mater even though they're painful to watch, I'm proud that my team found a way to get to 2-3 and finish 95th in the national rankings.

Go Aztecs!

We don't need a bowl game. We party anyway!

What an upset by Stanford over USC! I thought USC would lose this year but I thought that would come against Oregon or Cal. Florida nearly beat LSU but Les Milesquestionable decisions during the game ended up working to his advantage as LSU came back to win. How great would it have been to see #1 and #2 lose on the same day? I hope no one ends up undefeated and we just have a big jumble when it comes down to the end of the season. Hopefully that will lead to more "suits" agreeing with the idea of a playoff system.

Looks like the Steve Spurrier magic is already working down in South Carolina. They'll be a top ten team by the time the next poll comes out. The big question this week is if Florida can beat LSU and knock them off the top spot. I'd love to see Florida beat LSU and have Cal beat USC down the road. That would completely change everyone's predictions.

I agree. There's just so much pressure there right now and it is difficult to succeed with the academic requirements that puts restrictions on your recruiting. With that contract, he deserves to be under the scope. I see 3 wins.

I don't feel bad for Charlie Weis at all. Tyrone WIllingham got the same treatment that Weis was getting with similiar records. You can't expect to go to a big time campus like South Bend with a gigantic contract and not take the heat. I honestly see Notre Dame winning only 1 or 2 games this season. It's going to be a rough year for them.

There's no doubt in my mind this will be Lloyd Carr's last year in Ann Arbor but he will not be fired. I feel he's going to step down at the end of the year to make it easy on the university. Then Michigan will get a big name coach to take over. Maybe they can follow the Notre Dame route and go with Romeo Crennell because I'm sure he will be available by the end of the NFL season. The word is Michigan will go after LSU's Les Miles. All I know is I would hate to be the loser of the ND/UM game and sitting at 0-3.

Shekirk,

Do we care that you're a woman? I don't think so. Last year, we had a lady from Tx, who probably knew as much about football if not more than some of the guys. So, if you want to talk college football with us, come talk college football with us.

OK, 1st game Year two into the Chuck Long era looks a lot like 1st game year one. SDSU got pummelled by Washington State 45-17. For a team that has provided good NFL talent over the years, we are looking horrible. 469 yards in the air is a freaking highlight reel.

I thought Chuck Long was supposed to show the Aztecs how to win, not just get how to get busted in the mouth every week. At least the Chargers won, otherwise it would have been a bad weekend all around.

I wonder what the mood is in Michigan now? Giving up 39 (could have easily been more) and over 300 yards rushing to Oregon must be raising red flags about Michigan's defense.

I am so bummed that Michigan got beat. Time to get a new coach. The one problem I have always had with Coach Carr is who he picks at QB. Dreisbach (now in Arena Football) over Griese (NFL), Henson (Out of football) over Brady (Super Bowl champion). Then 2 geeks Navarre and Henne.

My oldest son (31)graduated from Florida State and our whole family became major Seminole fans. Warrick Dunn being my favorite! His signed picture when he was on the Tampa Bay Bucs hangs in our family room. Still love the Seminoles and am hoping for them to rise up this year. Of course, my youngest son,is now a Florida Gator, so our home is now a house divided! The middle son is a UCF Knight so he isn't causing a problem yet.

It's about that time. College Football is around the corner. As much as I love the NFL, I'll watch two college teams going at it on any given Saturday. I'm reviving last year's thread. Everybody come on in, call out your school and what you expect to see this year.

I went to school in San Diego and went to SDSU (Aztec country). I've been through some up years and some down years. Last year was the first year for Chuck Long and it was a down year partly from injuries and partly because Tom Craft didn't leave him much to work with. I think that Chuck has had a year to work the kinks out and I'm looking forward to see if he's brought some of that Big 10 killer instinct into Montezuma Mesa.

Can't wait for the home opener!
