Keep it up Jogger. Read and post as much as possible because for me the more I am involved with SP the more I am incouraged to continue, no matter how well or bad I do today/yesterday by using SP, I want to continue and do better for tomorrow. There's alot of good people here with a lot of good information to be had. Read all you can, learn as much as you can, and then use it to help yourself out, and post messages to help others. Keep it up! and Good Morning. Jim

Thanks fellas for ALL the positive remarks and information. I have started using the spark journal daily. I get up, eat breakfast, and put my lunch and snacks in single serving baggies and eat dinner at or before 6pm every night. Then, I go to the track, do about 30-40 mins. cardio. I started this on Monday, and the pounds are coming off s-l-o-w-l-y. I am motivated, but what has motivated and impressed me the most is the posts I've received from you guys. Thank you for your support and best of luck to ALL of you in your endeavors!
Take Care,
Jogger

Jogger,
The 'I'm sick of where I am' attitude is a great place to start. While our starting weights were different, that starting attitude was the same. Use that emotion and energy to drive your fitness efforts. The fact that you're learning more about yourself and why you do things is great. That'll go a long way. Combine that with all the helpful information and encouragement you'll find here and 50 will be awesome for you!
I record EVERYTHING I eat, stay consistent with my workouts, and find joy in having healthy days (even when the scales don't move).
You can do it. I wish you the best, Mike

Way To Go guys. I was 320 about a year ago, and I agree with the last post, mark everything down in the planner log, keep track of what you eat. Don't put anything in your mouth unless you log it. Pretty soon you will be very happy with yourself. I know for me when I lost even a few pounds I not only felt better, but my ego kicked in to want to continue. I sure don't want to fail myself. Best wishes, Jim

Jogger, One of the things that I have done is logging everything I eat. The journal here is great but when I can't get to something like what they have here I have an alternative. I write it down. Keeping a very detailed list of what I was eating and when has helped me go from 195 to 165. Good luck!

I agree with Jim... Luck has nothing to do with it... We are in charge of our own destinies, after all Ann dillard once wrote, How we spend our days, is of course, how we spend our lives. That's something I have tried to remember for a long time, but just like you I haven't had much "luck" on this diet rollercoaster...until now!

I am going to say "to hell with luck", it has no part in this. It appears to me that this is all about skill with information to back it up. I look at it as a life or death situation, and really it is for me. I wish you all the best, because luck has nothing to do with it. Jim

Good luck! Slow and easy is definitely the best way...

Good Luck! Once you finally make that decision to change how you look at eating and your habits when it comes to eating you are free to grow. It's been six months for me and I'm still losing and learning. I'm sure you can achieve the same.

Confession time......been on this "weight" rollercoaster to damn long......had my highs and definitely my lows. The yo yo just kept doing its thing. After long thought, motivation, and lots of inner searching, my major downfall was that I wanted the weight off too fast and did not see the reasons why I overate at meals. It wasnt because I was hungry, after much soul searching, finally figured out that it was mainly emotional in my case. I've read so many diet books, took so many supplements, went out and sweated my butt off on the track to achieve my short term success and it worked. Then, because I just went on a diet and didn't actually change my lifestyle and get my priorities right, the weight came back with a vengeance. I just turned 49 and made a commitment to myself that I will be at my ideal weight on or before I turn 50. I would appreciate any support and motivation you fellas could offer....especailly those of you who have had the same experience.
