| Thank you, guys!!! I appreciate it. I appreciate your thoughts/honesty with me. I know I am a fine woman, and a good catch at any size . . because of my inside qualities! I just need to be a little more selective I do believe!! It is just hard getting back in the game, where I live (small town) . .there's nowhere to really meet anyone, and I met my now ex-husb at a bar, and my first boyfr after him was a co-worker and that was a disaster. I'm just going to work on me for awhile, and not worry about it. I want to be a healthy size for me!!! Thanks, again. Good luck!!

Looks really weren't as much a deciding factor when I was dating as was confidence and being able to carry on a conversation longer than 15 minutes. Looking back, the women I dated weren't what most people would have called supermodels but they carried themselves well.
Grandteeton, some guys are shallow about that and really, is that a guy you want? I see you shaking your head so, I'll assume that's a no. The odds are these guys had some shortcoming too so don't sweat it. I always looked at it this way: If they don't like you for you, skip 'em.

Technically, guys are more visually oriented because as a group, they are more likely than women to be left-brain dominant. A left-brain woman is also likely to be visually oriented.
But all of this is irrelevant to the question you asked. If you are meeting people in bars, well, I think both sexes make snap judgements based on appearances before either opens their mouths. If you are meeting people in an environment that gives cues to people's personality/interests, and an opportunity to talk without it necessarily being an obvious pick-up, then personality comes much more into play.
As someone who has been on the receiving end of judgements about who I was because of my weight, I can assure you neither sex has a monopoly on thi (poor) form of behavior.

Hey, I have a question . . I want a honest answer from a man. Please give me some honesty, fellas. Why are men so visually fixated? Why? Why does a woman's weight not her heart matter so much more? I mean, an appearance may capture your attention, but doesn't a personality capture your heart? At 5'10, I've been from 148 to 318 and everywhere in between, and my weight at both sprectrums is always an issue at some point. Why does it matter so much to men? Please be honest, I would appreciate it greatly.

I'm down in the 250 range, and my face hasn't changed mych either. You can't choose where the fat's gonna come off. Also, my belly measurement hasn't changed in a LONG time. He'll get past it. He's just got to keep at it, and it'll happen. especially with all the work he's doing. And I'm sure his trainer will keep him on the course too. Rick

He knows he shouldn't focus on the scale, but he says that he can't stop it. He feels better, has more energy and his clothes feel looser as well, however his face hasn't reduced in size as much as he wants and he's still soft around the waist. He works out 5-6 times/wk and works out with his trainer 4 times/wk. He just really wants to get past that 300 mark. I'll give him this advice and see what happens.
Thanks for your imput. If there's anything else that comes to mind, let me know.

| How long has he been sitting on that plateau? The body gets used to what you're doing to lose weight and after a while the losses slow down. What I'd say is to keep doing what he's doing, down more water and before he gets upset at the amount of weight he's not losing, look at other things that are improving. Is he able to get around better? Do his clothes fit better? Does he have energy. If you focus on the scale, it'll drive you nuts.

Hey guys,
I posted this some place else, but maybe I can get an answer here.
My brother started at 350, but is now down to 303 (been losing since April 2006). He's pretty discouraged that he can't get over that 300-mark. Do any of you have some suggestions I can give me from a "man's" point of view?
Thanks, Tammy

| Yeah, in fact this is the best place to go if you have a "guy question" you want answered.

| Yeah women have been in here for months. If you're not shocked by what we talk about, we're not shocked by you.
