| Yeah, i've done the clenching fist push up... a while ago now getting back on track I will just have to build up the muscles to hold up, plus a softer mat to do them. The rug is a bit rough on the knuckles. Thanks for all the help again

Not sure just how bum your wrist is, but perhaps clenching your fists and doing push-ups with you knuckles rather than your palms - this means the weight goes straight up your arm with two sets of wrist muscles supporting it, rather than one set of muscles with your wrist at a right-angle.
If you think your wrist is not strong enough for this yet, then perhaps dumbells - liekly this means 10 or 20 lbs going through each wrist, rather than ~50 lbs for a push-up. The suggestion of cables by another poster is also a good one.
However, things that take same of the balancing aspect out of lifting weights might be good - just using a rigid barbell rather than two dumbells means your wrists are mutually supporting the weight, rather than being independent. Various weight machines with guides and tracks for the weight are even better for this. However, there is a danger on this - while you will still build the major muscle groups in this way, the various stabilising and assisting muscles won't get the same workout - in the longer term, this may make you more prone to injury. But it could be a good way to go over the next few weeks if your bum wrist is a temporary thing.

| Thanks a lot, I didn't even think about cable or ever the butterfly machines. That's a life saver.

My wrists will get sore every now and then as well. One thing you can always do is use cables for chest. They are pretty low impact on the wrist and can still give you a good workout, plus their are numerous different chest exercises you can do using cables.
One thing I also try to focus on when I have a sore wrist is pushing with my palm on flat bench as opposed to calking my wrist back pushing up that way.

Pushups are always great, but you are supporting your weight with your wrists/hands. If you have access to weights of any kind then butterflies or presses will work and have much less impact on your wrists.
Don't forget to check the Resource Center as well.

| Ok I know first thing that you'll say is a bum wrist should be looked at by a doc. But with that aside is there any exercises that can be done to build muscles in the chest that are "low impact" on the wrists. my bum wrist isn't as bad as it may seem, I can still do push ups but just curious as to if there are any alternatives to help save a bum wrist.
