Thanks for the cool heads guys. I re-read my original posting and I guess I was freaking out a little. You're right, this is a minor setback that can be easily managed.
I'm back on the program today, weighed in this morning and have started logging food again. I do a lot of walking here as it's still so new and interesting, so that's a bit of a bonus, but I'm scheduling time in the gym from today. I've bought an insulated water bottle carrier, and will take a big bottle of iced water out with me, that should mitigate the temptations somewhat. I'm limiting myself to a few beers Friday nights only (I can't give it up completely, can I?)

Phew!! I'm back - more determined than ever. Thanks Sparkpeople.

It really does take time. Try to stay on the wagon.

Micky,

Bob is right. Take a minute. You've got to get the lay of the land. You see where you're lacking. You'll get back on track. Just stick to what you're doing and incorporate your workout back in. Now I won't say stay out of the bars, but chill a bit. You'll be fine Micky.

Hey MickyMazda

Let's step back, take a deep breath, and take a look at this. First - I think you are already on the right track - you recognize the situation you are in, you know it is not the best situation, and you have asked for suggestions on how to handle it by posting here. So you are not as bad off as you might think. Next - I want to ask you why you think this is such a bad situaion? Do you really stop off for "a" cold one every day? Or is it "several"? If it is just one or two - then my opinion is there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Just use the Sparkpeople food tracker as your buddy - put in everything you eat and drink - and stay within your ranges. If you are using the tracker, having a daily beer, and staying under your limits - then you've got very little to worry about.

You don't mention exercise - If you are able to get in a workout now and then and burn a few calories, even better.

Keep posting here, man...let the guys here know how it's going...everybody here wants to help.

Four weeks ago I went to England for a family reunion and pretty much gave up the diet. Every day was pub lunches and drinks at night. I gained about 2 kg which was pretty much what I expected. I then returned to Dubai for 1 day then flew to Bangkok for my new job, which I have been at for 2 weeks. Since I arrived in Bangers I have found an apartment with a pool and gym - which I never use. I'm located on Sukumvit Soi 4 - which is like Lodon's Soho, or New York's Times Square. I've been pretty good with the eating - but I just can't resist the bars!! After a day out walking there must be about 30 bars between the MRT station and my apartment block. As you walk along, hot and sweaty, the Thai girls call out 'Hello Mister,..welcome..." and I just can't resist going in for a coldie. I haven't actually put on weight - but I think I'm on a permanent plateau unless I can get this cold beer thing in check. Currently it's not too much of a problem, but I know another couple of months of this and I will be back to the bloater I was before.

Help me guys - how do I get back the rigid iron discipline I had in Dubai???

Seriously, this is a cry from the heart... I need all the help I can get.
