| FATMAN320 is totally right...been there, done that w/ an ego-driven, self-absorbed man (who cheated). He had none of the things "missing" that people discussed in previous posts. It took me awhile to understand but he was someone who had self confidence issues but you would never know it b/c he tried so hard to hide it and did things to make his ego bigger. Unfortunately for me, he chose to lie about his life and take away years of my life for selfish reasons.

The guy who cheats is doing so because there is some reward in it for his ego.Same thing for the women who cheat.Some part of the situation satisfies a need to feel like there is something special about them which makes them desirable to more than one person.A lot of it has to do with self-esteem.
I think when a man and a woman are truly in love that the love itself fills the emptiness and all they need is each other.But my friends all say I'm a dreamer...

| Men cheat cause of lack there of. They find what they are lacking for in a differnt woman he cheats with that's why they have more than one.

Men cheat because:
They are bored
They WANT to
They don't think they'll get caught
As the saying goes, you can't make a hoe into a housewife. Think on that one.
AND men cheat because...they can, knowing that the women they are cheating on will stay with them.
I think that men like variety, but a lot of women get comfy and feel they have to do just the minimum to keep their "catch". This could not be further from the truth.
Men, encourage your mate to be "every woman" and ladies, be many!

| It's because of something they're lacking at home or not getting at home. Sometimes it's just a hot chick. My wife is 294 and i'm 170 and she still turns me on.

Even if your giving him enough at home and everything he wants, If he strays to find something different maybe it's time to see a marriage councillor...(If the relationship is worth saving), If not, then it's time to break it off before he hurts you further. Been there... done it... and my second wife is is much better! The first wife was seeing others at work!

| I agree that a lot of times it really just has to do with the guy not so much the spouse/hot or not. I have been in that position before and was told it was more of an attention thing, someone gave him attention thing... And let me tell you these girls were nothing to right home about. So again I believe it has to do with how the guy is feeling about himself not really so much about you....

Guys don't cheat because of the attractiveness (or lack of) of their significant others.
They either do it as a "one-off" fling under the simple "because they can". Or if it is an extended thing then it is because something is missing in the relationship.
It has very little to do with the significant other.
I was at a christmas party last year. The hostess was a really hot bartender who invited most of the regulars to her house for the party (I was friend of a regular). While I was there I admired the house, noted the electrician's truck and tools and asked about her husband. He had skipped out on the party, took her tip money for the week, and was out at a strip club. Whatever was going on in that relationship, that guy wanted to ditch a big party (80-100 people), ditch his hot wife, and go to a strip club.
I have no idea what was going on, and decided it was in my best interest to stay out. But even guys with hot wives cheat.

Mort nailed it right there. It comes down to communication and what they are getting at home. If a couple is missing the emotional bond or the physical bond then people will start looking outward to meet those needs. It has little to do with if the spouse is fat or skinny. And yes, guys do love their fantasy and will occasionally wonder what the grass is like on the other side but most leave it at just that: wondering and never act upon it.

| usually it is a "little head" vs "big head" decision. You know, the trouser brain? That being said the other big reason people (men and women) cheat is that they are not getting what they need/want out of their current relationship. Women tend to look for someone who will not take them for granted, show them affection, or be emotionally there for them. guys usually look for sex first and then go for the emotional issues. What ever the reason it usually boils down to a lack of communication between partners. I personally have never cheated, nor do I plan on it. I have however been the cheatee...and boy does it suck. If he's cheating on you, drop him like fourth period french! He aint worth it.

| Many guys tend to live in a fantasy world. When things in life don't work out or don't fit their "dream mentality" they do stupid things, like cheat on their girlfriends or wives. And many guys are insecure about themselves and look for love in all the wrong places.

| in my opinion we (not including me!) cheat because we want to and there are normally no feelings attached to our actions. A guy might love his girl and not want to lose her but still go outside of the relationship with no feelings attached to whomever we deal with.With that in mind coupled with the fact that everywhere you look there is something being advertised towards that part of a man's mind, weak minded guys get caught up in the hype. Just remember, 98% of the time, if ur in a good situation and he cheats, it probably has absolutely nothing to do with you.

Sometimes guys cheat because they want to! I am o guys side that they may be victims of neglect and mistreatment from their partners and that the woman should be more careful that a man is also a juman being and he needs love, pampering and care like she does, even first moves from women could be intersting.
But, some men cheat because they like to change or are week infront of some types of women or just for fun or revenge, so please guys: BEFORE YOU BETRAY OR CHEAT: THINK: Would you like this to happen to your mother, sister, daughter or wife?

I agree with MDAMERON, guys cheat for all sorts of reasons (many are the same reasons that girls cheat). The main one is probably that they stupidly think they can keep sex and love separate. - They're usually wrong.
It's a terrible way to behave and I'm sorry if it's happened to you.

| I'd have to agree. The average guy who cheats isn't cheating because his their partner is too fat. More often than not it's because they feel like they're not getting enough out of the relationship. Whether its sex, companionship, money, frienship, they feel like they're missing something. Instead of being a man about it and breaking it off, they cheat until they get caught since they have a "back up" with their mistress.

Nope. They can cheat for a variety of reasons, but no matter the reason it's still wrong. You shouldn't be with a guy that's cheating on you period. You should be with someone less material if you think size and shape are making him dishonest.
He's worthless, IMO.
