Another good stretch (not sure it qualifies as a stretch, but I'm not really sure what to call it):
Sit with legs straight out, bring one knee straight up and cross other leg over the top, placing the calf of the second leg on the thigh of the first leg.
Rotate your foot at the ankle a few times each way...
this should relieve some pain, and get your leg in better shape.

Lisa, I'm so glad to pass on this info - I found it great when I was playing competitive basketball. To prevent shin splints (and sorry if this is a repeat from the article, I didn't read it) try doing this exercise: While sitting, with legs bent about 90 degrees, scrunch a spread out towel towards you with your toes. Repeat about 8-10 times depending on the size of the towel, once or twice a day. This is nice because you can do it while watching tv or whatnot.

| the best advice, I was ever given about shin splints was to stop doing the activity that caused them until you heal.

I have started jogging on a mnt trail and tonight my shins are sore ... any good way to help them feel better .. ice? heat? nice massage .. everyone is welcome to sign up to give me one .. lol heh heh.
any advice would be great. Im going to stick to elliptical for a few days to let them .. feel better
