Im sure you will be surprised with the reading it gives you. I overworked (whch isn't good for the heart) cardio. I would never have realized this and slowed down had I not bought my monitor. Happy Wednesday! It's cold, snowy and - 30C (which i believe is -22F) .. ahhh! lol. ttys Lisa

I've had a Polar F11 for a while now and other than changing the batteries it has been ok. The good thing about a HRM is it gives you a much better indication of calories burnt.

I've had my Polar for a while and had no problems with it. I think it just depends on the brand

Monitors are great. They don't seem to last, stop working.

I really think you'll be happy you did. I was exercising way harder than I needed to prior to getting one .. and wouldn't have realized it had I not purchased a heart monitor. The heart doesn't need that type of wear, tear and stress ; ) Have a great day!!

Thanks, Lisa. I've been toying with the idea of getting a heart rate monitor, and now I have another reason to.

Hi everyone, back from another weekend at the lake .. woo hoo .. actually Im reaching my camping limit and look forward to my usual routine ; )

I have been using a heart rate monitor (wear it around your chest/sternum area) and was surprised to see how much OVER I was exercising (cardio) for my maximum heart rate.

Now with this monitor I exercise within 70-85% (I stay with 85%) and my endurance is great and I don't feel totally bagged after the work out.

Some of you may want to look into the same thing just to give you an idea of at what rate you should be exercising.

To figure out maximum heart rate (this is the way I do it and I believe Spark too) 220-age = max heart rate

then multiply by .70 or .85

It was eye opening and I was sucking a lot more wind than I needed to be ; )
