| Bronco's fan here. This year looks pretty good, great running game, great upstart quarterback, Javon Walker and Brandon Marshall are big targets for the big arm of jay cutler. Oh and try throwing on that defense. Dre Bly and Champ Baily on the corners with John Lynch pancaking anyone who crosses the middle.

| Well, I'm a Lions fan, so to answer your question...no my team does not have a chance. Unless of course you're implying does my team have a chance to finish at the bottom of their division, in which case, I would be pretty optimistic. Our great hopes? That Jon Kitna, Dan Orlovsky, or Drew Stanton, can actually complete more passes then interceptions. And that Calvin Johnson won't be just another bust 1st round reciever for our team; see Mike Williams and Charles Rogers.

| Well as a Tampa Bay fan (how a guy growing up in the midwest ended up rooting for Tampa is beyond me, and I was even a fan during the horrible dayglo orange uniform days), I have to admit that this year looks relatively bleak. It all hinges on how Garcia fits into the mix, because who knows how Simms will come back (huge respect for staying in the game last, year, but my lord the guy could have died). The defense is getting older and that never helps. Oh well, there's always college football to hope for.
|

| Chicago Bears hopefully will do something good with some offseason changes and get something going to build a more consistant offence.

| Life long Bills fan. (enter joke here) No, i do not think we have a chance. not like we have had a chance since the 90's. As always we have room for improvement. And as always, you probably wont see any until its too late.

| For the NFC, I'm interested to see how the Saints do for an encore this year, and if Arizona improves at all...
|
|
|
|
The NFC will be weak again this year and my Bears will be in the mix I am sure.
Grossman will grow more this year and be more consistent and the defense will be strong again, so I have no doubt that the playoffs will be in the picture.

| Old School Broncos fan I am. They have a great chance for the playoff's not the super bowl. Denver has had probably the second most productive off-season other than New England. Jay Cutler will have a break out season, their D-line has been seriously adressed, Daniel Grahm is a great blocking tight end and try throwing on them this year with Dre' Bly and Champ on the corners with John Lynch Pancaking anyone who dares cross the middle.

Yeah Flash, I'm getting the same feeling. CheeseHead born and raised here! I guess it's really too early to tell anything when it comes to teams having a chance. I'm gonna say as long as Bret stays healthy, the recieving corp get's their heads out of their rump(Fergie mostly),things will be OK. With Tauscher back on the O-line, and Morency and Herron making strides last season, and hopefully Rodgers learns something this season and doesn't hurt himself on the only game he plays! Damn it, talking all this football, I'm craving a Bratwurst and a Brewski!!!!!!!! Thanks Guys!

| Packers fan here. I'm not expecting too much but I'm going to remain optimistic about Green Bay this year. I didn't expect anything out of them last year and we were a Giants loss away from making the playoffs. I see an 8-8 or 9-7 season and possibly sneaking into the playoffs as wild card. It all depends with how are young talent continues to grow and mesh togethor.

Bengals had another guy arrested 4th string RB did not want to leave a wedding party after it was over so he got disorderly conduct. what kind of idiot do you have to be to be 6th on the depth chart when they are only going to take 5. spent last year on the practice squad and are playing for the team with the most "Police Press" to do something as stupid as not leave a party so you get charged. all he did was ensured Chris Perry wont get cut after coming off the PUP list...
at least he was not at another strip club at 4am where your boys shoot at someone else cough, cough PacMan again last weekend

A lot of the Pats loss was on Cam Cameron. The whole idea of running the whole 2nd half's offensive scheme without LT is all Cam's mental gymnastics. LT was unstoppable and had they run LT down the Pats throat the 2nd half we might be talking about defending a championship instead of trying to get one. But you're right, the man has a poor playoff record.
And like I said, this coaching move is AJ's pick. I would have felt better with Ryan or Rivera in the top spot. Norv is credited with Aikman's rise and but since then he's been kind of shaky in that top spot. Still, there's a good chance that with the talent on this team, even Norv can't screw it up, but if he does, AJ may need to go into hiding.
Now JeMarcus Russell is a big dude and it'll take a few shots to drop him. Luckily, with Robert Gallery on the Raider O line, people will get those shots all day.

STEELERS fan here. I think the Steelers have a decent shot at the playoffs. I didn't have high expectations last season as they were coming off a Super Bowl victory, the worst Superbowl I've seen, but I'll take the win. So last year's disapponitment wasn't too much of a shock. This season we have to adjust to a new coaching staff so I don't know what to expect. Either (a) the new coach wins the players over and they have a solid season with a playoff appearance and a win or two or (b) the players don't buy into the new system and flop like last season. I was hoping Whisenhunt would have been offered the head coaching job but from all I've heard about Tomlin, he should turn out to be a decent leader.
Based on what I've seen over the offseason I would think the Pats should be the heavy favorite. The Colts, Chargers and Ravens are also in the mix. Forget the NFC, their all at least two years away.

In reply to Russ: AJ did us a favor by getting rid of Marty. Sure he can win regular season games but when he gets to the playoffs his brain craps up and he forgets how to coach and what got them to the playoffs in the first place. He coached a horrible game against the Pats.
Add a less conservative offensive mind that helped take the Cowboys to the SB with one of the most potent O's in the league and the sky is the limit. I am more worried about the 3rd and long D more than anything else. If I had a free week of Sunday ticket every time they had teams 3rd and long and let them off the hook with that soft prevent D they played I'd have a lifetime subscription.
I'll give Jamarcus until week 6 when Lights Out welcomes him NFL.
I can't wait for this season to get rolling!

As I see it, the Bolts have no choice but to go into the playoffs and go deep in the playoffs. A.J. Smith did the unthinkable when he dumped Marty and handed the reigns of a damn good football team to Norv Turner. If they don't make the playoffs after a 14-2 year, A.J. may not make it out of Charger Park in one piece. If they pull another One and done appearence in the playoffs then he might get one more year.
Whether they bust the Seahawks in the mouth again is up to you. If you don't put the Chargers away early, then you're looking at problems. There is too much firepower on the offensive side of the ball.
As far as the Raiders go since I'm working in Sacramento, I'll get to watch them all the time. (Yay!) Should we start a pool for how many games JeMarcus Russell goes before he gets his first concussion? I'm thinking with Robert Gallery on the line still, he might make it about 8 games.

Patriots have a shot, I think. We overhauled the receivers (who weren't THAT terrible) and brought in Thomas as a LB. Our LBs were getting a bit long in the tooth.
Big question mark right now is on Laurence Maroney. He's been favoring the shoulder still from the surgery. Our guys were pretty beat up in the last 2 games (SD and Indy) as it was.

some of you guys know by now I'm from North Carolina originally, so I follow the Panthers. Hopefully they can stay healthy(you listening Steve Smith and Kris Jenkins?) The Bears have an awesome D, if only Grossman can be the gunslinger they think he is. I'm waiting for Parcells to kick TO's a$$ when he blows up on the sideline after not getting enough passes. I want to see if LJ can rush for 2000 in KC, and if Rivers can handle the pressure in SD. Also, a couple of rebuilt QBs to watch, Brees and Culpepper. Somebody just needs to make sure he stays away from those boat tours down there in Miami.

Playoffs? I'm a Niners fan. Not this year (or the next) until they address the needs on both sides of the ball. Actually, I'm still trying to figure out how we managed to get knocked out of the Reggie Bush sweepstakes last year.
I also have a historical interest in the Broncos (my best mate and fellow LB was a diehard Broncos fan) which stems from the late 80s. If they can get out of the AFC West (not that easy) then they'll have a decent run, I think.
|
|
|
|
I will say Herm Edwards in KC scares me a bit. He's a good coach. Put him with talent and the cadre of running backs KC always has and he might shock a few people. But Merriman put Priest Holmes out last year with one the most vicious open field hits I've ever heard on TV. If he lines up Johnson or Green like that, it's game over.
The AFC West should be wild this year. KC with a new coach, SD with a new QB with something to prove, Oakland with Art Shell and the return of the verticle stretch offense and maybe even a bit of the old attitude. Denver just being Denver. Hang onto your hats, it's gonna get ugly in a hurry

I think you might have misunderstood my last statement. When I said "after last season, I'm not so sure..." I was referring to the beatdown the Panthers gave the Bears. In other words, the Panthers are my #2 team, but I'm not so sure since they beatdown the Bears last year! :)
When I was located in the Southeast, I had a chance to take in two Panthers games at their Charlotte location... very nice! I've only been to Soldier Field for games on two occasions, hard tickets to come by.

Afraid of steve smith much!?
Hehe! I do like the bears defense though. If their offense could be half as good, they'd have a shot at another ring!
I didn't decide to go for the panthers until their 2nd year, when they came to charlotte (where I live) Since then I've been tottally go panthers! It kind of annoyed me when panthers started doing good and everyone jumped on the bandwagon! Then whenever I said I loved the panthers, everyone was like OH YEAH, You and everyone else!

| Go CHIEFS! They've been so close recently. Scoring lots of points, but also giving up a lot. Games are not boring, that's for sure. Herm Edwards might beef up the D just enough to make a difference. I'm a longtime Dolphins fan too going back to the Griese/Czonka days when I was a kid. Not much to cheer about there recently, though.

Pats here too. Without Vinatieri, without Givens, with Branch deciding to sit out because he wants more money...with millie McGinest off to Cleveland for a last big paycheck (hey he earned it)...
AFC East is possible, or even likely. 1st round loss could be imminent. They draft well, but I'm not seeing a lot in the "ready for starter status" area. I think the team has dismantled too many key parts ni the last couple of years.

Da Bears! Feeling good about Chicago's chances based on their defense. If their offense can improve AT ALL, then we could be decent. All the other central teams have new coaching staffs and new philosophies, so the Bears chances are good. Please keep Steve Smith away from Chicago...
Actually, the Panthers are a distant second team, since I had season tickets to their first year in the NFL, played at Death Valley in Clemson, SC. But after last year, I'm not so sure...
