| I prefer going for the small mouth. Better fight and more fun all around. However the biggies do have their pluses too. The best afternoon I ever had was last year on Lake Ontario. We were about 1 mile east of Ginnea Power Plant and we could not stop catching them!!! Every cast I got a hit...15-30ft of water, calm seas, using spikes and plastic worms. The smallest Smallie I caught was 12" and 4#. It was a fisherman's wet dream. My normally quiet father in law was hootin and hollerin and grinning from ear to ear. It lasted for hours. I have got to do that again!!!

| I LOVE TOPWATER FISHING, NOTHING LIKE WHEN A BASS HAMMERS YOUR LURE, JUMPS, AND PULLS. MY FAVORITE TOPWATER IS THE HULA POPPER, CAUGHT MY BIGGEST FISH 4LB 90Z. ON THAT LURE. BUT OF COURSE I HAVE EVERY TOPWATER LURE I CAN FIND. WHAT ARE YOU FAVORITES OUT THERE FOR LARGEMOUTH IN THE NORTHEAST

| Hi!! I love fishing.. the biggest bass I ever caught (9lbs.) I caught using hot dogs. It's true! Not a fish story.

| Hi Guys, My best luck so far for bass has been a Mepps Aglia spinner and the good old Red Devil. Once in a while I use a spinnner bait with a black tail, that seems to do me good too. I'm in Southwestern Ontario.

I hear you on buying tackle. It seems I can't walk out of a store without a new lure with the thought of if I ever need it, I'll have it. I'm really tempted to start using tubes. I think you convinced me.

| I use different size tubes for different situations...I have so much plastic tackle...and about 9 rods/reels...my wife knows exactly what to get me for birthdays and christmas...hahahahaha....the more, the better...but like any good bass fisherman knows....you can never have enough stuff....you might not ever use it, but you can always tell your friends that you have the latest and greatest....(big smile)...I have used brushhogs and worms, but mostly tubes and senkos...6" senkos for the largies (largemouth). Also, I love topwaters......especially on a calm lake early, early in the morning...nothing beats having a big bruiser come crashing up to grab your lure and pounding back down trying to spit it out...man, oh man!!!!!

Unfortunately I don't own a boat so I shore fish. We sometimes use live bait but I prefer artifical - if only I think there's more sport involved. For plastics, I use brushhogs and worms (sometimes lizards), also spinners such as sonic rooster tails, snagless sallies and vibrax bluefoxes work, other spinners, along with a few Rat'L and shallow cranks. I have yet to catch a fish with a topwater but I've tried quite a bit. I haven't fished tubes but hear they work very well. I have yet to get into a tournament. Probably becauase I only own one rod/reel. I use a snap swivel for quick lure changes and often get head shakes from the seasoned fishman I fish with. But it seems to work for me.
What size tubes do you use?

| I really love bass fishing...I have been fishing tournaments for 2 years now....nothing major, just local tournaments...maybe 20 bass boats at each...have won a few but have not placed first many times. I (and most of us on the west coast) use plastics...never live bait...for example...senkos, tubes, grubs, lizards, etc....my favorite is drop-shotting and tubing....especially for smallmouth in the summer. Hope you have good luck and most importantly, have fun.

I've just started bass fishing. I'm fishing in Maryland and enjoying it. I also have my two sons involved also, although at ages 3 and 5 their attention span isn't quite there. I'd love to hear some tips.

I used to love fishing for Bass & Pickerel (Walleye?) but haven't done so for years. The last time I went fishing was with my son when he was around 10 (16 now). All I remember was having to untangle his line all the time, him being bored and me not catching anything.
Just a note that my Dad used to go every winter to Texas - a place called Eagle Lake, I think. He did a lot of Bass fishing there when he retired with Mom and his trailer. It was quite a drive for him as he retired around the Toronto area and spent about 4 months in Texas every year.
