I think the pedometer and the Forerunner (I'm going to look at that myself) are great ideas. The biggest thing I've found though is the need for a partner. Especially when first starting. I think someone to walk with him will help him a lot. Good Luck - Gregg

Thank you! I've heard of that, but I've never seen it...I'll be sure to check that out! And in terms of exercise, I have all his doctor's notes sitting with me that I'm going through to divise a plan of action for him. I have the doctor's recommended exercises, I just need to start him slow, which is what I'm doing. Thank you again for the gadget suggestion.

Treating heart attack victims is a very delicate science, so in terms of the actual exercise, I wouldn't want to advise...

But one thing (most) guys like is gadgets, so think about how you can add these as a motivator. You've already got him the pedometer which is good. But you might also want to think about a very cool device called a Forerunner (look it up on ebay or amazon). It is essentially a wrist-mounted GPS and heart rate monitor. When he gets back to his computer, he can download his exact route, heart rate, speed etc. and when he is walking (or jogging/cycling if he gets up to that) then he can immediately see his current distance, current speed, time spent exercising and heart rate... If he's a gadget guy, he'll LOVE this!

Heya guys...I need some suggestions. I am secretary of a 4wheel crew and our VP who is almost 60 just had a heart attack. He had angioplasty and is doing much better, but the doc told him he needs to exercise and eat better. I work at a women's fitness gym and I help many women, but I haven't much dealt with men. He came to me and asked me to help guide him on his quest for a new life...Have any of you dealt with a situation like this? What are some suggestions I should give him? I was going to print off healthy, well rounded recipes and make him a cookbook of sorts and also have him start slow with 20 min walks every day...I was also going to get him a pedometer to keep track of distance...etc...Anything else?
