The new tool is great, I also bought the new godsmack. Its good but there are parts of it that sound alot like other stuff Ive heard. Seems like they might be running out of ideas a little. For what its worth.

Claypool is definitely one of the best bass players to ever play. But I haven't been a hug fan of anything since Primus. He comes through Santa Cruz quite often, but I've never been compelled to go see him.
On a different note, the new Tool album is AMAZING.

Alright, so I'm stoked - Les Claypool is doing a show here in VanCity on my birthday!!!!! The major downer is that no one I'm friends with even knows Les Claypool . . . ugh. The one guy who does (who's just skyrocketed to the coolest of my friends) is spending his concert money on Rob Zombie and can't afford to come. I (try) to play bass and seeing a master like Claypool live would just be incredible.
Anyone in the area interested?

I love Marilyn Manson. I saw them and Korn open for Danzig in 1994. Great show!!!! Funny thing is, back then no one really knew who Korn or MM were. Now more people know about them than know about Danzig.

If it's too loud - you're too old! I think those are the first words I ever learned, lol. I recently read that teenagers might listen to their music loud so that they can feel the vibrations on their skin. I can definitely agree with that. Anyone else get grumpy when they don't get their fix of loud music?
Angela - my dad was actually the one who turned me onto Marilyn Manson, definitely think that he was preventing me being a devil worshipper!

Hi, Heather --another interloper on the guys' space here. I got into metal in the 80s -- saw Motley Crue, Whitesnake, Bon Jovi, Cinderella....liked Quiet Riot, Skid Row, Judas Preist, Twisted Sister, Ozzy...lost touch with it for a while, and am back now with AC/DC mostly -- good driving music. I go through stages in my musical taste but basically like anything with a lyric I can relate to -- Kid Rock, some Eminem, Staind, Nickelback, but also like Johnny Cash, George Jones, Bruce Springsteen and Steve Earle...my son is 15 and we actually agree on music and borrow each other's CDs, which I think is cool. Also helps me keep tabs on what he is listening to --- wouldn't want him to turn into a devil worshipper or anything. LOL LOL LOL By the way, no tats here but my ears are peirced a total of 9 times -- will that work? Angela

Yeah i'm a big metal fan.
Stuff from Slipknot, System of a Down, Metallica, Slayer and Soulfly are good workout songs for me. Played really loud - naturally.
Stuff that absorbs your brain so you can't think about anything else!

I like metal sometimes, mostly mainstreamish stuff like Tool, Opeth, Dream Theater, Rammstein, Korn, Metallica, etc. Rock's a favorite genre too, like A Perfect Circle, Nine Inch Nails, and Incubus. I tend to listen to this stuff when working out.
My favorite stuff is a fair bit different from metal though. I like Sigur Ros, Bjork, Explosions in the Sky, Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Boards of Canada, Massive Attack and Portishead. None of it is very energetic.

im really into HipHop.
But when i work out, i switch to rock.(im not really sure whats the exact genre.) i listen to- Korn,SlipKnot,Deftones,Ramstein,HateBreed,Rage Against the Machine and so on....
It really helps me spcially when lifting weights.. keeps the adrenaline flowing hehe
so far,my favorite 'rock' song to work out w/ is 'I will be heard' by HateBreed. kinda old? but still works great for me.. try downloading the song,maybe you'll like it.

I was raised on metal. in the 80's it was Motley Crue, Armored Saint, ACDC, GNR, Slayer and Metalica. The 90's, in came Alternative. Limp Bizkit, Mudd Vayne, Linkin Park and others. Metallica has always been the one for me though. I bought my first Metallica LP, Kill 'em All the day it came out. I was a freshman in High School. Never looked back

Miek Ness is one of my "heros" along with Glenn Danzig. They are by far my two favorite musicians. I saw Tiger Army open up for Social Distortion in San Francisco last year...WOW!!!! I love the Mike Ness albums as well. I have everything he's ever done. Hank Williams is OK, but I'm definitely more of a Johnny Cash guy. Throw in some classic bluegrass once in a while too. One of these days I'll put a pic of my tattoo up for ya. I have plenty of skin left as well. I have the one on my shoulder, and I have my wife's name tattooed on the inside of my right arm as well.

Heck yes rockabilly - have that on the pendulum swing sometimes too, especially Tiger Army. I'm also a fan of Hank Williams III, and Mike Ness released a couple rockabilly albums too. Not big into punk, but also love the new Tool album. Waiting on a paycheque to buy it. Cool about the tattoo, would love to see pics. I've got a couple of tats, but none are about music, so far. I've got a lot of body left to cover, lol.

I wouldn't classify myself as a metal head simply because I love Punk evern more. But I do enjoy my fair share of metal. Slayer, Sepultura, Soulfly, iron Maiden, etc....The new Tool album is absoultely amazing, and I one of my favorite bands ever is Danzig. I even have a Danzig tattoo on my shoulder.
90% of the time, I listen to punk and rockabilly. I LOVE Social Distortion, Misfits, Pennywise, Tiger Army, and so on.

Alright, so I'm getting more serious into metal. (I tend to work on a pendulum though, oddly enough between dirty hip hop and hard rock/metal.) Unfortunately, my friends are mainly into other stuff, so when I gush about Priest or Nevermore, they give me the blank stare. Anyone out there a metalhead? If you aren't, what music do you prefer?
