I'm here too. I had lost 70lbs on WW and then got stuck at a plateau and gained it all back. I got pretty PO'd at that and lost it all again. Got stuck at that plateau again. Last I officially broke the plateau! I excersize a lot, I have been known to ride 60-100 miles a week. I put my car in the garage about a year ago and haven't looked back since. I live in Chicago so that is not an impractical decision. I also have always been into lifting weights. I have found that dieting resources for guys are nearly non-existent. I have just been toughing it out. The other day I had to finally go out and buy a bunch of new jeans. All of the jeans I had were 48's, I just bought 40's!! Freakin awesome!

| I hear that about the crazy eating habits. Once I started to count the cals, it kind of made me sick. Too much bad stuff. This is helping though. It is sort of hard to promote this type of site as a guy. Whatever though, if it helps, it helps!

New here...I was wondering about that question too...since it seems like it's 99% women on the site. Hahaha!
So far so good...hard to keep track of what I eat, but when I do it makes me aware of how crazy my eating habit was before this.

|
| The hardest part of any diet is what to eat, packing lunch everyday has been a hard concept. running down and buying fast food was easy. Eating fat is cheap, eating healthy is expensive. But we have to do what we need to do. I like the guys page, much better topics.

| More guys here han I thought. Hey Dazling the salmon on the grill sounds great, I'm always looking for new healthy grill ideas. Think I'm gonna try it.
|
|
|
|
Speaking of salmon, coming from the Northwest where salmon are plentiful, I took a large piece, made a aluminum foil pan, seasoned with garlic salt and peper then rubbed with EVOO from a sundried tomato jar, I put sundried tomatos on top then put it on the grill. Everyone loved it, and it was healthy. The oil from the sundried tomatos work great since it is EVOO, I take whole mushroom, quarter, drizzle the EVOO and season and throw on the grill. Its alot different then I used to cook on the grill but its for my health. I bought a grill pan, its a pan with lots of hole so I can grill several different veggies with out then falling through the grates. Happy grilling.

Hey DAZ thanks for the info on the fish oil, will check that out, as there is tons of stuff out there on fish oil. Salmon is good !!
See ya soon,

| Try fish oil for them joints, it lubes the joints and reduces the pain. Comes in a pill form anywhere. Take 3-4 once or twice a day.

Yo JDavis, I run in life-threatening events, ya know, fires, explosions, big bears, etc. Outside of that, I am not there, and I still have all my old joints, no replacements yet @ age 62. However, my darlin wife is biking X-country, in our living room by logging in her miles in a group challenge, so do what you do, just LeDeaux it. Getting in shape is its own reward, and as the dogfight I have had with Pound #194, cheating is its own revenge, and not sweet at all. Good luck to you all, and will look forward to your postings.

Another guy checking in. My wife and I both started this last week and we're pumped about it. I've lost about 4 lbs so far, but i'm staying right in my calorie range, and my nutrient range, so all looks good.
We're also doing the couch to 5k plan - i've NEVER been a runner, so to be able to run even for a minute and a half right now is awesome, I feel great!
Good luck to everyone!

Like I was saying on another board, consistancy is the key, and I must get better on a consistant basis. I am glad to hear your care for your lady, but also she has given you 3 more reasons to take GREAT care of yourself, your kids !!! I am sure your kids are happy and proud to have you as a thoughtful dad, and they will be even happier knowing your gonna do everything you can to live long, take cae of their Mom and be their Dad, for long time to come. Keep up the good work.!!

MITCH !!
I posted on another topic, how I gaind 10 lb in eleven days as I drove cross N. America from Alaska, it was disappointing. However, now I am back on track. Got a mini-trampoline last nite, and I like adding that routine in with my stationary bike. I get bored easy. If I ride the bike indoors, I like to surf the cable channels or watch CFL or NFL, or something, but that mini-tramp has really shaken things up, soooooooo, my advice,if you are stuck, is shake up your routine, or someting, somehow, and keep doing it till you get to a place that helps. Remember if the fish aint bittin here, maybe their bitting over in that other cove, or as Jim Cramer says, " there is always a bull market somewhere..." Good luck and keep at it, run off tackle.

| "Get back on track" is my mantra lately. I've progessively spiraled out of control since late April, put on 10 pounds during this period, eating any and everything, enjoying beer in excess. I started back on my exercise program last week, training for a 1/2 marathon. It's so hard to do what is good for me, so much easier to eat the pizza and drink the ale.....mmmmmmmm. I feel better, physically and emotionally, when I do what's right...gotta stay on track!

Welcome to the Man Room :D
Korea? Watch for more than the beer there... watch out for the Soju... :D You can get it in a variety of alcohol % from like 20% to 40+% (40 to 80 proof), and some of it is made "right", which uses the rice distillation, some of it uses more questionable methods (diluted ethanol). Had a friend bring me a bottle of the good stuff, and we sat around mixing it in Kool Aid, drinking it down, smoking cigarettes and having a grand old time.

+1 more guy joining.
Found this site while browsing around different exercise sites, and was impressed so... I joined.
Found the man room here, and saw there's a Men In Training group that started up, so I jumped in there too.
I'm sort of doing the opposite of most people here in that I'm trying to add weight, but I'm still cutting fat and adding muscle while eating right... so it's really the same goal.

Welcome newbies. I've been on here for almost 3 months now and it's been a huge help. I also get on here and waste time so that I wont eat all day long. Since Easter I've been able to lose 52 pounds, but I have a long long road ahead of me. I was 550 pounds at my heaviest (you read the right, 550) I'm now at 388 and I'm thinking I want to be around 220. Keep your fingers crossed for me and I hope you all have a low calorie high protein week.

I want to lose some weight to feel better about myself but also so I look good to her. Good luck to all of you.
