A member of another group forum that I am a member has just started a new group called "Beauty for Ashes" and is extending an open invitation to the men and women who may be married to a alcoholic or drug abuser. She knows that it is not easy because she has been married to one now for sixteen years. And sometimes she eats because she feels frustrated.
Even though my spouse is not an alcoholic or drug abuser, I felt that I would like to be a part of this group so that I may be able to offer an encouraging word. If any of you have a spouse who is an abuser (alcoholic or drugs) or if you would just like to offer your words or thoughts of encouragement, I ask that you join and become a supporter for those who are. God bless!

Heyworth,
Great job getting out there and getting a sore butt. That will go away as you get used to riding. Hope you had fun.
Weight loss is a stop and go process. You might try eating in your range instead of below it though. You may be putting your self into starvation mode.

Hello gentlemen - My name is Jennifer and I just wanted to stop by and issue an open invitation to any who may be interested to visit and check out a new group forum called "An Encouraging Word". Like many of us women, I believe men need encouragement as well. This forum focuses on spiritual enlightenment and positive thinking using God's word as we all embark on this road to a better lifestyle change. Please stop by, you'll be glad you did. God Bless!

Bruiser-
I had to sneak vegatables into my routine slowly. I have to mix them into different foods. Have chicken kabobs with tomato and peppers. Eat small salads. Slowly but surely, they aren't as foreign to you.

Wow! I should of had a V-8! I think having a V-8 will help me meet my veggie requirements for a while until I learn how to eat more vegetables. It will probably help keep me from cheating by calling corn, beans, rice and potatos vegetables too.

| yeah - I have the same problem, if I don't eat and let myself get very hungrey I just keep eating, I came home last night and there was nothing to eat - so I ate junk food and went over my limit by about 500 calories. I really need to get better at eating more, smaller meals.
| the hardest part for me is staying with the exercise. eating the right things is easy, although our oldest graduated High School Thursday and we went out for Chinese to celebrate. I didn't eat anything all day just to make sure I would be ok. Problem is I was so damn hungry from not eating, I probably went way over my limit. I guess I really need to get on the exercise kick and get better discipline. I think I need to go back to boot camp!!!

| Yesterday I tried my hardest to stay within my calarie count. I even gave up having a chocolate bar with my work lunch. However tempation and peer pressure got into the way with three slices of all dressed pizza.
| Just a note for nostalgia. Went out to lunch at a 50's diner and had a rueben sanwich and fries. Total calorie count hit 960. Man did that crimp my style for dinner. No more going back to the dead past.
| Well, I'm one of the guys here. So far the exercise part is coming back quickly. The diet is an aquired taste (pun intended). I'm slowly sneaking vegatables into my meal plan and so far I haven't died so I guess they aren't as poisonous like I used to believe.

I'm using the "kid complex" to get my dad back in shape, or at least relatively healthy. He's consistently injuring himself at work, he's been a smoker for at least as long as I've been alive, and his diet has gone down the trash since he left my mom. I'm taking him to the pool for my birthday, so I hope that'll jumpstart him. If not, I'll just have to drag him with me whenever I'm in town. Cross your fingers for me - I want a dad around for a long time.
Heather

Journeyman, Congrats on the 10 lbs in May, that's great!! It is amazing how children can wake you up to the unhealthy lifestyle you are living. I can't keep up with my kids anymore. I used to be able to kick their butts in any sport, if I wanted to, although they always found a way to win. Now the shoe is on the other foot and they are whooping on my in everything. Time to get into shape!!!

Here's another guy. I've never been much of a consistent exerciser, but I'm starting that phase of the Healthy Habits. Come to think of it, I was never a good flosser either, but somehow managed to finally get into the habit. I just didn't let myself get away with any excuses. I think having a "buddy" really helps. In my case right now, even though he doesn't know it, my buddy is my 6-month old son. Amazing how tiring and inspiring he can be all at once....
I've lost 10 lbs since early May working on the diet part; now it's time to work on the exercise part.
Good luck to everyone....
