Hey guys. This sounds like fun, but I'm gonna have to wait... right now I can hardly do 10 to 15 in one go, which is just enough for the spark workout I have prescribed. On friday I'll try stacking a lot of sets throughout the day and hopefully hit 50.
KE7CWM: Sorry don't remember the name I read below, but is that a HAM call sign? The reason I ask is because I just registered as a Tech in January and my callsign is KE7GLI... looked similar.

| I tried listening to music and reading a book, but I just get bored with the lack of scenary. My wife will throw on a movie and exercise forever. I think the longest I've been able to exercise at home is about 1 hour on the elliptical.

| Hey Matt thats true for me too. if its fun and entertaining exercise is much easier. I watch tv sometimes while on that air walker of mine and that pases the time pretty well Jeff

| Jeff....I hear ya!!! You'd think we lived in Seattle the way it's been raining here. I had to use the exercise bike to get my cardio yesterday. About 40 minutes worth. I just get bored when I'm exercising inside. I'd rather be riding in the mountains instead.

| Wow that sounds like a great trail. Eugene is known for its bike trail along the willamette river

| Jeff...lol...I love biking now. We have a place in our "backyard" called Nisens Marks National Park. It looks like the forst you have in your picture there. It's amazing to ride through the woods. The trail we ride runs along a river/creek the entire way, it's one of my favorite things to do on a sunny day.

| I ended up with 60 crunches yesterday and 75 minutes of cardio. Great job to you guys that are doing 500 and 600 crunches. Great job to everyone that is getting those exercises in.

| I am going to continue with the crunches and the puchups. Its hard but I am noticing a difference in how I feel and look. I will try to add in the cardio program. 3-4x per week 20-30 min and reach a sustained high heart rate. Keep up the good work everyone.

| Count me in. I'm also going to try to do as many crunches as I can. (Not to the point where I'm going to kill myself though). If I could do 50-100 crunches a day, I would be happy with that.

Dudes!
I'm definitely a slacker! But, 10 minutes of cardio a day (currently schedule a minimum of 30 minutes, 4 days a week) and/or 20 3X per week sounds doable.

Maybe just back to basics would be best. 10 minutes of cardio a day or 20 3x per week. Who cant use more cardio. Use the "track other exercises" on the SparkPoints page to track it and get points just the same. I need to find a good lower ab exercise to go with all these crunches.

Yeah I noticed the same thing. I'm thinking it's a combination of people being busy, but more of a difficulty are the high numbers on the crunches and pushups. I'm thinking we all should think of a new challenge with lower numbers. Somthing more people feel comfortable with.
Any ideas?

| 500 crunches and 60 or so pushups so a little shy of the challenge but I did add 2 sets of curls, 25 mmin of basketball and a 20 minute medium paced walk with my dog
|

| Only 50 pushups today but we walked around Seattle Center all day my feet are killing me. Ate Lunch at the top of the Space Needle. Awsome

| Well I didn't get much done yesterday.. about 150 sit ups but no push-ups.. today though it's 5:45 and i'm at 125 sit ups and 40 pushups... and this is before my trip to the gym tonight.. should have no problem with hitting my goal today

| 50 pushups so far but did lots of walking about 3-4 hours. I will do maybe 25 or 30 more pushups tonight but the walking had made me sore.

| Well I was able to get to my goal of 50% again today but man am I hurting.. I definately need to try and space this out throughout the day rather than do it all in the evening before bed

Starting late - but count me in. Like one of the other guys - I have no problem with cardio, but doing strength training is tough for me to do.
This challenge might help me get going.

I was thinking about that too. I would say whatever you comfy with counts. I even thought about maybe the goal could be 500 pushups and 2500 crunches in a week. So, whatever feels right to you works for me. The main idea is to push us to do them.

Way to go on getting to the 50%!!! And I think you have a great idea of working your way up to the 500 & 100. I'm wishing I would have stated lower and worked up to those numbers lol.....my abs, chest and shoulders are killing me right now.

5:57pm and done with 100 pushups and 500 crunches....man do I hurt! I'll definitely be taking tomorrow off form the challenge. TKD wil kick my butt plenty on its own.

I'm up to 60 pushups and 425 crunches. The last 75 crunches should be a piece of cake, 40 pushups won't be too bad. I try to get 20 at a time done. I figure I'll be done with today's challenge by 7pm

I'm at 20 pushups and 100 crunches, but I didn't have a chance to do anything until about 15 minutes ago. I'm gonna be pushin it to get them all in tonight. With how sore my abs are it's gonna be tough!

| I just found this thread. I'll give it a whirl. The strength training is also a huge challenge for me. I hate the pain and soreness that you get initially. I know it will go away but it is a big blocker for me to overcome.

The pic on my profile was taken in the redwood forest. This was the biggest tree ever. My wife and I love the Oregon coast and take the kids camping in Florence every year.

Love the Oregon coast, very similar to Northern Cal. We actually took a little roadtrip vacation a couple summers ago up the coast. We drove from here (Santa Cruz) up to Gold Beach, then up the coast a little further and cut through Eugene over to Bend.
My uncle just retired from the University there in Eugene a few years ago. He was the head of the Psychology Department for years. Denise and I abosultely love Oregon and hope to move there some day.

Me too....just finished the last couple hundred crunches...500 crunches and 100 pushups. Ugh...that was hard. Well, I'll try it again tomorrow, hopefully I can do it again.

| People dont seem to understand that the points dont really mean anything, its only ment to motovate you its not like there's money or prizes attached. There only cheating themselves. I finished all 500 crunches and my guts are killing me. Up to 85 pushups and my arms wont go anymore right now, even hard to type. Ill finish before tonight tho. anyway awsome challange. Just added a few more myself, upto 50 pushups and 155 crunches.
Yeah, I hear you on the points. It would be nice to earn more, but I understand why they cut it. People were manipulating the system. We may see some adjustments to the Spark Points in the future though.

| Good job Matt, keep it up. I did some more, 70 pushups and 400 crunches total. what I dont like is that you can only ger 10 pts for extra exercises when I would qualify for more. Oh well im still getting the benifit.

The 100 pushups and 500 crunches is a good realistic goal for myself. For others who want to do the challenge pick a number that will make you work to get to it. Even if it's only 10 and 10, be realistic to yourself. Hopefully you can increase as you go. Maybe give yourself a goal for a month from now to be at twice what you do today.
I know I can't do 100 pushups in a row, some day maybe. But for now I'll probably do 20 at a time, 5 times per day. And I'll probably split up the crunches to 100 at a time, 5 times per day. My goal is that in 1-2 months I'll be doing 100 pushups in 10 minutes, and 500 crunches.

| Sorry, my arthritis in my back, knees, and neck will not allow it. I can only do about 30 modified push ups and for me that is very good.

Unfortunately I don't have time to do the website anymore, but if you want to read what all the jibberish means there is a link at the top of the page that says "rules". It explains what the challenge was about. Essentially all the percentages you see are how much better the person did on each challenge. Some day I might restart it so we all can have an accurate challenge. But with my job and teaching TaeKwonDo I just can't do it anymore.

do your best, if you can't get to those numbers yet make those your goal to get to. And like I said, maybe you do 10-20 pushups in the morning, then 10-20 more in the afternoon, evening, night, etc.

In the old days of SparkPeople the Guy's Lounge thread a weekly challenge to help push one another. We did all kinds of exercises to challenge each other. I decided to rekindle some of the challenges to help get myself in better shape before summer hits. I'm planning to do 500 crunches and 100 pushups at least 5 days a week. Anyone want to join me?
It doesn't have to be all at one time. You can 20 crunches in the morning, some in the mid morning, evening, before bed etc. I have done 500 crunches in a row and almost threw up. But I want to get back to doing that.
