Mike,
Until they develop a way to test for HGH there will forever be cheaters like Grimsley. I am anxiously waiting the names to come out that he gave. It will be interesting to see who else is incapable of playing a game fairly. Guys like me who played the game for 20+ years but never got even to A ball, and played it right. I lifted weights for two hours a day, 6 days a week and was fortunate enough to play 3 years in the Marines. I would give my left arm to play one day in the show and would do it for free as well. Of course I can't bend my knees fully anymore nor get into a squat, so I guess at this point I'd have to give up my dream of catching Nolan Ryan, but still......

Thanks to Cintron, my White Sox are only 1/2 game out of first. Thorne keeps hitting homers. What does everyone think about the new allegations on enhancement drugs? That guy was stupid enough to get caught.
If I remember the Twins did make a run for a while last year. It's a long season yet to go. Mike

| I have had enough of this damn rain!!! I don't know what the rest of you are looking at but up here in Mass we are looking at more flooding. I just saw a stat on the news that we are almost 6 inches ahead of Seattle for rainfall to date!!! almost 28 inches of rain in under 6 months! I'll happily go back to the January freeze to get out of all this rain!

| Now that is a loss that really hurts!! Rudy bleeping Seanez has no place in that bullpen or a major league roster for that matter!!!!! At least Schilling pitches one of the next two so we should avoid the sweep. With Dr. Jeckyll and Mr Wakefield on the hill who knows what happens with the other game. A split would look really good right now!!!

| YIKES, I have Beckett as one of my pitchers, he certainly took a beating last night. The only good thing is that is was just a measly 1.1 innings. And to put the screws to me even more, my opponent this week had Mussina . . . oh the injustice! Hopefully my starters tonite with quickly bring down my monstrous ERA (J. Schmidt, J. Peavy).

I live seven miles from Nellie Fox's home and went to the movies with his daughter once. I don't remember the movie or even which theater it was. I was in love with her cousin for years, but she never knew it. In those days, the Dodgers were still in Brooklyn and I loved them too. I thought the American League was a farm system for the National League and I hated the Yankees the most of all, but hated everything that wasn't a Bum. I weighed one hundred and forty pounds. Nothing remains the same. Now the Yankees have been my American League team for over thirty years and I loved watching the Phils finally spank the Dodgers yesterday. Who'da thunk it?

Wow!! OK. I guess I'm just a die hard White Sox fan. I tolerate the Dodgers and Angels because I live in LA. As long a the White Sox win and the Cubs lose, I'm satisfied. A true fan cannot be a Sox & Cub fan.
Nothing personal but growing up with Nellie Fox and Billy Pierce, I tend not to like the Yankees because Yogi Berra, Hank Bauer and Whitey Ford always used to beat us.

I'm a Yankees fan and I'm a Phillies fan, so when the Yankees lose, it's great consolation to have my National league team win and all their competition lose. We have a pretty good mix here. One fella is half right. He likes the Yankees, but unfortunately he also likes the Mets. Then we gots us a Braves fan, a Boosox fan, a Rockies fan and some others.
I can tolerate the Nats and I was a Dodger fan a long time ago, but I've been a Yankee fan since they abandoned me and left Brooklyn. I started to root for the Phillies in about 1972, so they've both been my teams in their respective leagues for a lot of years. I keep waiting for the year when I'll have to pick one over the other in the World Series. Bet you wish you hadn't asked that question, huh?

My White Sox are having the same problem. I think both teams hit a wall. They just have to play through it. It is like our weight. Sometimes we hit a wall and can't seem to lose. Then you look at the scale and you lost 4 pounds. Go figure. Everything will turn up OK. We are just letting the Yankees and Boston get close to us to make it a race for the wild card.

Detroit wins a shocker agains the Yanks to stop a sweep.
Then, gets a tough time in game one against the R Sox - a two run homer in the 9th, with two outs, to win by one - against our star closer! Tough loss!
But my Tigers are hanging tough thru this. In defeat, we all become stronger. Never give up!

The White Sox have been losing lately and their pitching is not the same as last year. Their hitting is great but a good pitcher will beat them every time. Thank goodness the Yankees beat up on the Tigers.
Ozzie will get the White over the hill and should win their division with the Tiger coming is as the wild card. The Red Sox and Yankee will beat themselves up.
Toronto is coming strong. This three teams will eliminate each other.

Billy Beane used to be infatuated with Kevin "greek god of walks" Youkilis. As great a season as he is having, and I'd hate to lose him, I bet we could get Zito for him. Quick someone get me Theo's phone number!!!

I'm Mike and NITEMAN told me about this group. Is it OK if a Whte Sox fan joins the group? I live in LA for the past 14 years and follow the Dodgers and Angels but my heart still belong to the White Sox. I watch their games on the MLB website. Even though I am fro the north side of Chicago, I have always been a loyal White Sox fan.I went to the world series game in 1959. It was a long wait until last year. It should be a great race between the Sox and the Tigers this year.
I'm 65 years old so I know a lot the the old timers.
My blood pressure came down after I retired a few weeks ago, but if I keep watching these games it may go up again.

| I know the Rockies started out hot. How are they doing now? Alot of times with new pitchers the teams they face don't do good against them till their second time seeing them. Their scouting gives the hitters insight and the pitchers have to make adjustments. Are the Rockies still hot?

My dad and brother live in Florence too. I enjoyed watching all the greats. George Foster, Joe Morgan, Johnny Bench, Pete Rose. I wish I knew what happened to them. This year they started out good, now their back on that losing streak. Hopefully one day they will do a lot better. Have a great day.

| The loss to the Royals was hard, but the rest of the weekend went well for both the NY Teams. Weather was great this weekend in NYC area - was able to listen to the game outside on the radio and trow the ball around with my Son, instead of sitting in front of the TV eating chips - I love the warm weather!

| Well the Yankees might as well make plans for October now. up here in Boston we usually wait until September to throw in the towel, but this year is different. Unless they pick up a quality starter and soon, the season is over. We have two quality pitchers in Beckett and Schilling and one that'll win every third start in Wakefield. Wells is all done, his knees can't take any more and Clement has problems with his brain. They say it's an ankle issue but we know what it is. He got hit twice this year and its in his mind now. He's all done!!! And now Timlin goes on the DL. Do the Royals have any pitchers we can fleece them of?

Please have a little sympathy for the Royals, or at least their suffering fans. When the Royals win a game it actually depresses the whole city of Kansas City, because we know they can't take a series. I'm not sure they've actually won a series since 1999! Or maybe when they snuck past the cards for the World Series?

I follow a lot of teams because I am in a fantasy league, I love the game and have lots of favorite players all over both leagues. I only have one rule for my fantasy team, NO! Yankees. I live in Phillies territory, they're OK, used to hate them too, but since my son is a fan of the Phillies I can't hate them anymore.
My hubby is a Pirates fan and we usually drive 5 plus hours each summer to head out for a series, thought about doing the All-Star game there this year, but hubby got a new job so getting time off is not going to happen.

I grew up loving the Dodgers. When they moved to LA I think they lost the allure for me, but I finally found a team that gives me the same thing that the old Dodgers did. That is, eternal hope that someday they will win the big series! I'm a Rockies fan now, and guess I will be for the rest of my life. I even passed this on to my son who is a bigger fan than I am!

I used to live in Florence, Ky which was about 10 miles from the stadium until I moved to Tenn. I haven't seen the new stadium in person yet. But when I was a little boy I used to go watch Tony Perez and Davey Concepcion hit some homeruns. It was great. Love those childhood memories:-)))

The only reason the Yankees took 2 of 3 is the horrible starting pitching of Wakefield and Clement. If Clement continues to get hit by line drives he won't be an issue for long. Wakefield will be adequate, he just had a bad day. Talk to me in October.

Jaret Wright pitches the best game of his career and they damn near blow it on him. difference between the Sox bullpen and Yankee bullpen, we have one guy we can't rely on- Keith Foulke. You have one guy you can rely on- Mariano. There's the difference on why the Sox will finish better than the Yankees this year!

My opinion is that the main problem is with the front office and a scouting staff that couldn't find a prospect if he threw a baseball by them at 100 mph.
When it comes to trading,well:
Jeff Supan to the Cards for "prospects" *
Johnny Damon to Oakland for a bad shortstop *
Carlos Beltron to the Astros to a mediocre 3rd base prospect **
* Didn't pan out
** Jury's still out, doesn't look good.
Then there's our owner, former President and CEO of Wal Mart - David Glass. He should have fired the GM at least a year ago and probably two. I think he bought the team to give his son a job - the team President.
Maybe that's why I generally root for National League teams - Dodgers, Astros, and Atlanta, in that order.
