I looking forward to losing weight so I am not the only "heavy" person around. I want people but mostly my kids to be proud of me and how I did it.
Eat better and excersise.

| for me it was not liking what I was seeing in myself, and skating like I had 10 tons of lead in each of my skates and letting the guys down was the push I needed

I'd like to feel more comfortable wearing tighter clothes and I'd like to feel more attractive for my girlfriend.
Also, I'm really looking forward to being able to be way more active, since I wear out pretty quick at my current weight. :D

| I picked my username because of this. I want to be able to play with my son when he gets older. I want him to see his daddy and not have to ask my wife what was daddy like.

I just had a student ask if I had lost another 10 pounds. I haven't lost but 2.5 in the last week, but several teachers and students seem to either notice, or are making an effort to encourage me by making statements like that. My new clothes, about 2 weeks old, are fitting much better and my wife says I may have to buy clothes again in a few weeks. Even though I think the idea of losing even more weight is great and what I'm going for, I can't afford tokeep buying new clothes every couple of months.
I guess I'll just tighten up the belt and keep these until I reach goal and then do it for good.
And yes, I hope you get the encouragement that I'm getting. I'll begin by telling you that you're doing great and keep up the good work.

| someday bending over to tie my shoesand not get winded. Or when you mention I can bench press over 300 lbs. ......and mean something more than when you get up in the morning from sleep and are able to still get yourself out of bed on your own.
|

|
|
| The main reason I realized I NEEDED to lose weight was that I could no longer breathe while tying my shoes. At the time I was around 290 and wearing 38 and 40 waist pants. Right now I'm 230/5 into size 36's and can continue sucking air when I bend over to lace up the sneakers. I still have a long way to go before I'm where I need to be but I feel so much better than I did a few years ago.

The pants thing is funny. For me, I learned the hard way that 'Big and Tall Shop' is a misnomer... they're really 'Big or Tall Shop's. Trying to find 48/36 pants was a nightmare, and they almost always were mail ordered (which usually meant they didn't fit quite right). Most pant's co's stop at 44/36 for standard size. At one point I was in 36-38/36s, and they were a lot easier to find.
But I'm really looking forward to having more energy and spending more time with my kids. Not having to moan getting up off of the floor will be nice too.

SMCHANGE01,
I hope I get some of the positive feedback that you're getting. Sounds like everything is working for you so far!

DUTTY2001,
It's been happening to me alot lately. Students, other teachers, administrators, and many others comment on how much better I look. There were a few a few weeks ago who hadn't seen me for a few months who actually asked if I was ill, since I had lost so much wieght. But the majority who comment see me in the process of lossing and have very positive things to say. That include the tennage kids at my school, and that is saying something.

| Not only was she the world's worst cook, but the world's worst Jewish cook. I still can't believe it. I have know so many Jewish moms and grandmas over the years and they can all COOK. I took every foods class offered in high school and college and even several professional classes. I love to cook. My wife now lets me do almost all of the cooking at home and she cleans up.

I can't wait till I can hear someone say, "Wow have you lost weight?" I can't believe how many people in the past have been insensitive enough to come up to me and point out that I've gained weight. And these are not all skinny people themselves!
I'm hoping to peel off my shirt at the beach this summer and be confident to keep it off the whole time!!

SMChange01, You mentioned your mom being the worst cook. Reminded me of how when I was a kid I hated meat because my mom would always cook it so long because my dad liked it well done. It would take about 45 minutes to eat a bite or two of pork chop. It wasn't until I left home and began working that I knew that meat could be tasty and juicy and not taste like the sole of a shoe. I was 6'0" and 150 lbs then. From that day forward I started to gain weight.

I was a 97 lb nerd in High school and looked forward to putting on some weight. My mom was the world's worst cook and our dad bought us each a cook book for our 6th birthday. I put on the weight when I got married and just kept putting it on. By the time we divorced, 8 years ago, I was at 286lbs and wearing size 44 pants that were getting very tight.
Six years ago I remarried and my current wife has some major medical problems so this year we decided to diet. This is the first diet I've been on and I seem to be working at it. I've lost 45.25 pounds in the last 3.5 months and plan to lose the 30 more by August for my wife's reunion.
I'm looking forward to losing the weight so that I can play with my grandchildren mare and enjoy my wife and my life better.
By the way, I had to by a new wardrobe just last week because those 44 pants that were getting so tight kept falling down on me. I bought 40's this time and I'm looking forward to 36-38.

| When I first started putting on weight I wore 34 waist pants. I don't think I'll ever get back to that, even if I make it to my 160 goal. Still, 44 waist pants have got to go. I'd also like to be able to take my shirt off again. I have a large, unsightly gut, with large stretch marks up it. It looks like I was mauled by an animal. I know the marks will never go away, but they'll fade. I want the gut to be gone. I have a pretty huge rump too. I've always had one though, even when I was thin. I'd like it to shrink down a bit too. My doctor also told me that I need to do something about it, and at first I haven't but now I am. I want to be able to stand in front of my folks and doctor and hear, "good job".

| I am 44 and was diagnosed with high cholesterol and pre-diabetis. My grandfather died at 45 from a heart attack and I didn't want to follow suit. I am sole provider for a wife and 4 kids ages 6-13 and I would like to be around for them and myself. Also, I have a whole closet full of clothes that I can wear again as I slim down.

| For me it's a bit of all the below... Definately want to be more comfortable walking around with no shirt and I've already been diagnosed with high blood pressure at 21 so I'm looking to try and get into the best shape possible so that I don't have anything to worry about in the future

To make my bike go faster lol. To be healthier and reduce the worry of others that are close to me, happier in myself

| To get back in shape at 52 and get off colesterol and blood pressure meds. It's working so far.

BINGO !!!
CARIBBEANSUN nailed it for me. My family spends most of the year outdoors, whether I'm coaching ball and they are playing, a weekend at the beach, etc.
I am not as much concerned for myself as I am embarrassed for my wife and kids. It's bad enough now that we cannot safely tan our bodies, but to be flabby and pale is not acceptable.

I'm always curious to see what people look most forward to after they've lost weight. Is it buying certain clothes? running a race? Going to a reunion?
When I was losing the weight I couldn't wait to buy normal size pants. During the weight loss I had to buy a new wardrobe 3 different times. It was expensive, but worth it! :-)
Now I want to lose about 10 more pounds so I don't have to fight heavy weight in TaeKwonDo.
How about you guys, what do you look forward to the most?
