I think tiaras are a bit over the top. They make me think of that show, "My super sweet 16" where they have the quinces for the girls and they all wear tiaras.

~~~~~~~
When a 15 or 16 year old girl wears a tiara to her Quinceanera. It is symbolic of her heritage and faith.
I think that is all right because in that case it actually means something.
I have been to two and it is a moving ceremony.
I've always wanted a tiara. I ma getting married in a pretty opulent Ballroom. And my dress is a duchess satin ballgown. But then I found some really nice crystal combs that are tiara esque and have opted for that instead.
That hair comb is gorgeous. It is beautiful and just enough to give your hair some sparkle, but not beauty pageant. I think it will look fabulous with your gown.
I think it is one of those things, to each their own. Some can pull it off beautifully and others will just look rediculous. It also depends on the caliber of your wedding. If you are getting married in a rec. center you probably should skip it. But if you are getting married at The Four Seasons it would probably be gorgeous.
I don't know, I just think tiaras have bridezilla written all over them. Sorry! no offense to any of you girls wearing them!!! Just how I feel!!
I apparently missed my window for looking good in a tiara. Now, with *any* tiara on, I look like the queen mother. I'm only 43, for goodness' sake!
(Actually, there was one exception: a gold-toned tiara. By the time I found it, though, I'd already decided on my veil and hairstyle and wasn't about to change everything.)
If you're lucky enough to have a tiara look good on you -- and you like tiaras -- I'd say definitely go for it!
You should try it on first. If you like it, wear. I wouldn't recommend a big, pageant-like tiara. Check out my sparkpage photo (wedding photo - with tiara on)
It's just a matter of what you like.
They aren't really my thing, but I've seen a few others pull them off. I personally like ornate hair pins and beautiful headbands instead. I haven't decided if I'm going to remove my viel for the recption but if I do I will wear a vintage hairpin.
I'm going for the tiara but only because I am not going with a veil
I am not wearing a tiara. My dress is very very simple and our ceremony is going to be outside in a vineyard so I thought a tiara would be a bit to much. Plus, it's just not me. I am wearing a veil though.
At first I was against tiaras, but once the lady at the bridal shop asked me to give it a try I just had to have it! It completed the look with the dress I chose.
At first I didn't want any kind of head wear for the wedding. I just wanted my hair done up. My mom really wanted me to wear a veil and I told her I would wear one as long as I didn't have to wear it in my face. Then I've opted to use a jeweled headband also at my mom's request. I wasn't so pumped about it until I had my hair done up with the two of them. I'm still not crazy about the veil, but I'll do just about anything to make her happy.
I am borrowing my sister's tiara, but it has pearls on it and my dress is beaded. I might wear s pearl necklace to tie in the tiara.
I am still not sure about a veil. I might get a "tear away" one that i can take off the tiara after the ceremony.
Just as a heads-up, I'm a hairstylist specializing in bridal styles! Take a picture of the hairstyle you want and the tiara you want to your stylist. They should be able to tell you if the accessories will work with your style. I've seen so many brides unable to get the style they want with a tiara they've already bought and can't return - sometimes the styles just won't work together.
That said, I'm skipping the tiara and the veil. A little to girly-girl for me!
Not for me personally, but I think that it is your day so why not. I've got rhinestones on my shoes so this will be enough sparkle for me.
tiara, tiara, tiara - why not? You are the princess of the day, and if you feel comfortable wearing it - then go for it! I'm opting for the crystal headband, that I am adding some additional beads and bling to. It is your day, right?
I'm all for the tiara. I'm having a wedding in a barn but I still want a tiara. It is the one day I will get to wear one without being made fun of so I might as well. However, I have always been fond of sparkly things!
AJWalden, flowers in your hair sound beautiful!
I still say no tiara. Hair jewels or a sparkly headband, but no tiara.
I am wearing a tiara but nothing too big, it is just a single band of beads/crystals. I am not into the big huge princess style tiaras. Although my best friend wore one in her wedding & it looked fine on her, just too big for me! (Literally it was big enough for her to pass as royalty)
A Tiara, the one day in a lady's life when she is dressed up more than any other day....it's her day to feel like a queen.
I opted out of the tiara. I have a veil and that's fine by me. I am going to have a few sparkly pins in my hair but that's it. The closest thing to a tiara is what my f. girl is wearing and it'a a halo.
Yeah pretty sure I'm going to go with a nice crystal headband. The woman at the bridal shoppe promises she won't let me leave looking silly! :)
I have opted out of wearing a tiara. My wedding is very casual and I am not going to wear a veil too so I didn't want to feel over the top. I don't think they are necessary at all.
I think that unless you are a full blooded royal princess, or Ms. America. Then just say no to tiaras. If you want bling for your hair, then take a page out of Scarlett Johansson's book and wear hair ornaments. Or Natalie Portman's diamond headband. The tiara that stands above your head is just tacky, IMO.
i am opting not to wear a tiara. i'm having a cathedral length veil, and a blusher.
I felt the exact same way. I wanted some headpiece but was worried a tiara would be over the top. I considered having a headpiece made that could later be turned into a bracelet or necklace, but I finally decided, you know what? It's my day, and I want a tiara! it is the only day you are going to be able to wear one, so you might as well take advantage. If you are going to feel self-conscous all day though, leave it out. You know what you look good in.
I have mixed feeling on tiaras. Sometimes they look absolutely beautiful and other times its a bit overboard. But heck, its your wedding so be as overboard as you like, right?
What is everyones feeling on tiaras? What are you all doing for headpieces?
