| 6 to 8 weeks should be more than sufficient, especially if so many of your guests have already heard by word of mouth. Any longer than that and people might set aside the invitation and forget to do anything with it.

I'm sending mine out at about 8 weeks (I would have sent them sooner but I'm waiting on the little cards that tell them where I'm registered). I have tons of people from out of town and I want to have plenty of time to give a tally to the caterer, get the seating arrangement and place cards done etc. There's too much to get done within the last couple of months so I am trying to get EVERYTHING done as soon as possible.

| Yup, I've always heard 6-8 weeks too unless it's out of town or you have a lot of guests from out of town.

| 6-8 weeks is pretty standard. I sent mine out 6 weeks in advance b/c almost everyone is local & the ones out of state are family who already know the date.

| We did save-the-dates and I read somewhere that 6-8 weeks before the wedding is when the invitations should go out. RSVP cards should come back about 2 weeks before the wedding for those who plan to do them.

| I didn't do save-the-date cards either. Our wedding is October 4, 2008, and we're sending the invites to the out-of-towners at the end of April that way they all know enough in advance. For the folks that live close to us, we're sending them out probably in June or July. I believe in doing everything early :D

I didn't do save the date cards. I sent my invites out on March 6 and the wedding is May 17. I have the RSVP date as April 21. In a way, I kinda wish that I sent them closer to the date because I rush home to see who responded and I get bummed when I didn't get one. I just wished that people would fill them out and send them back the same day. Hey a girl can wish can't she

| I have a wedding planner, and she said 6 weeks. This is as long as you've done save the dates. Otherwise, send sooner. I did the save the dates, but I think I'll be sending about 3 months before our date, because we're doing a destination wedding, and people need to book their rooms. That sounds good, right?

| Etiquette says two months before for long distance guests and 6 weeks for locals. You can do whatever you want, that's what is cool about weddings now! Bella

| hi there, from some of the websites that i have read and also from some of the wedding planner books that i have gotten from a bridal show last month it says in there to send them atleast five months before your wedding so that you can get a final number for your tables and food at the reception.

just throwing a question out there to everyone...my wedding is in november, and we're getting close on the guest list. when is appropriate to send out the wedding invitations? also, we are NOT doing RSVP cards...something else to consider.
we have several coming from out of town, and a few out of state. granted, everyone that we are in contact with, we have pretty much given them the date, verbally, already.
any thoughts? thanks!!
