Sounds great...I guess I saw your post too late--I was going to suggest something of the sort. Like print your own photo/cards, maybe a picture of them together in the center and the rest of your family members surrounding them in the photo--to signify the two lives and the two families being united. Later on down the line maybe you can throw them a surprise wedding shower (joint--guys & girls!). We did that for some friends and we had a blast playing games like having a contest of the best impersonations of the couple. They also loved all their wedding gifts and were just totally shocked at the surprise.

Thanks for your ideas! we sent my future sister-in-law a bridal magazine, a card, and two photo prints of pictures that she sent us after they got engaged. for my brother, we printed and framed two photos of the couple, made a card, and gave him a generous platter of homemade chocolate chip cookies which he enjoyed. :)

My best friend got me a box from Hallmark that is made especially for holding cards. It was so thoughtful, and it's been great to have to put engagement cards in, and later shower & wedding cards. You could send your future sister-in-law a subscription to a bridal magazine (Martha Stewart's Weddings is my favorite), and send her a nice note letting her know you are excited for her to be a part of the family!

If you have a place where you can paint pottery and they fire it for you, that might be nice. You could paint a platter with a cute quote on it about brothers and sisters or friends, and put the cookies on it. They would go well together. It would be something they could use forever and remember the love behind where it came from.

Hi all!
my big brother just got engaged this week! he is currently out of town visiting with the girlfriend, and I wanted to leave something at his house when he comes home as a little engagement gift. so far, I know I'm going to bake him some homemade cookies (guys always like the food), but I was wondering if anyone had any other creative/cute ideas.
also, I love his fiance, and want to send her something as well (she lives in Brazil). so, any gift ideas for her as well? neither of them are very materialistic, so if you have any thoughtful, creative, homemade ideas, I would really appreciate them!
