I don't eat a lot but I am on the run and I always have a small cooler and snacks in the car.

Harmonzie,

I travel every week for work, so I have the same struggles. For me, the hardest part is staying motivated to eat healthy when I'm on the road. I mean, how hard is it to eat healthy when everyone else you're with is eating whatever they want?!?!

I handle this by deciding the type of dinner I'd like before I even open the menu. Most restaurants have some kind of grilled chicken or grilled fish and will gladly substitute veggies or a salad in place of an unhealthy side. This way, I'm not even tempted by the other less healthy options since I already know what I'm getting when I walk in the door. I also bring my computer with me and use it to do workout DVD's in my room.

Hope that helps!

I always pack one of those resistance bands when I travel. It barely takes up any room in the suitcase and there are lots of exercises you can do with it in your hotel room. Also spend some time looking at nutrition info online for various restaurants to find healthy options. I was shocked at how many meals that I thought were fairly healthy were full of fat and calories. My favorite thing to pack are protein/meal bars. They keep me from getting so hungry that I lose control and they the perfect size so that you can still order something light and be part of the group.

Take healthy snacks with you when you travel. Granola bars, fruits, precut veggie, water, crystal light to go. (Buy a travel cooler) Also do your research on how to eat healthy while eating out. You have to have the knowledge to make good decisions. The best advice I can give you is to just be prepared. If the hotel that you are staying at has a gym, use it.

hey, i am running into a snag...wondered if anyone else was hitting this wall. i sing in a gospel group, and we travel quite a bit. and, while on the road, i find it hard to prepare or eat out and keep things on a healthy level while also watching my portions. it's so much easier when i'm at home. if anyone has any suggestions, i'm all ears!!
