If you don't feel like you want to DIY, consider checking out your local print shop and have basic invitations created.

I used to work at a printing shop in Orono, ME and we had lots of people who had us design their invites and then had quick copies made on nice paper. You CAN do it for a really reasonable price. I agree with the other folks when it comes to foregoing some options (ie. raised type which requires a specific type of printing press and usually costs more.)

A handy tip too if you are sending reply cards, consider using reply postcards and number them according to your address database. When we got married we used reply cards in envelopes and got a few back that had no return address nor was there any names on the card.

We're doing our own on the computer using Photo Shop, and I would say they look better than any I've ever seen from a store. The only problem with that, and one that we've run into, is printing them. If your printer isn't high quality, you'll want to take them to get printed by a professional. I would say in total our invites will cost less that $100 for 200+.

I went to AC Moore and purchased the DIY programs. I printed my own. In the end, people are just going to throw them away and not remember what it looked like anyway so why spend the money.

I used www.weddingpaperdivas.com. My stationery does have color, and this website has some of the best selection. Prices are moderate and the designs are really unique and elegant.

My suggestion would be that even though you have specific wedding colors. Stick to a white invitation with black lettering. Or a cream invitation with black lettering. That is always chic and classy. When you start adding colors, that is when you can start adding dollar signs

Confidentially, as much as you spend for your invitations. They do mean a lot to you. Your guests will eventually throw them in the trash. Remember that when you feel the urge to blow your budget.

Or my personal favorite, when your guest has your invitation framed and gives it to you for your wedding present.

Good luck!
I'm going to school to someday become a wedding coordinator. So I have a lot of websites on hand for various aspects of your wedding. Just let me know if you need any help!

Does anyone have any good resources for invitations? I feel like the ones that I keep falling in love with are WAY over my budget!! My colors are yellow and green, and I feel like there are limited selections when it comes to incorporating them. Any suggestions?
