| swinging... not really a father daughter dance, but we can do a west coast swing to it... its what I remember him singing in long car rides when I was little.

| I myself do not have a father, he passed away when I was young so my brother is giving me away and he was so cute, he picked out our dance song. We are going to dance to Mark Wills "Wish You Were Here" which is sappy but it will be a good song to honor our dad's memory. Immediately following that we wanted to liven up the joint a bit because it will be full of tears so we're going to ask our mom to join us on the dance floor and dance to Kenny Loggins "Footloose".

I'm using I Loved Her First by Heartland w/my step-dad, and Tim McGraw's as my part of the photo montage, my dad "secretly" liked Celine Dion so I might dance to that in memory w/my grandfather. Great ideas guys!
Oops! "that" being because you loved me.

| I'm getting married in June of next year but songs are hard to pick out. I already have my song for my real dad picked out but for my step-dad having a hard time finding another song.

| I'm dancing to My Girl with my father. It's sweet and lovely, but also upbeat and fun.

The funniest father daughter dance I have ever witnessed was "Always look on the bright side of life" by Monty Python. It fit the family relationships perfectly and turned out to be the sweetest dance ever.
Not sure this will help though.

| i have had my father daughter dance song picked out sinse i was a little girl. it is THE WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT by good ol franky! too bad i wont be dancing to it on my wedding day next may. my man and i decided not to have a reception because we are both from pretty strict churches and our families both like to drink so it could get a little ugly. this way we save a lot of money too. im happy about the choice the only one thing that i will miss is the dance with my daddy!

| My choice for father daughter dance is Thank Heaven for Little Girls by Maurice Chivaler. Talk about an oldie from the musical Gigi.

I would just like to point out that whatever you do you should consider the tempo. My dad and I chose "I loved her first" because of the words, but we are taking dance lessons, and even though it seems to be a slow song, it really is a quick count. We are still trying to do it but it is a very fast waltz and my dad is a big guy that moves slow. Just a suggestion to pay attention to the beat. Now I'm worried that we'll be paying so much attention to the count and trying to stay on beat that we won't really pay attention to each other!
2 dances are fine. So what if it is long for your guests? It is the most important day of YOUR life, not theirs, and you are paying for them to be there! Don't not do something because you think it will be too long, then you'll regret it forever.

Daysymay-
I'm so sorry for your loss. Just lost my Dad myself. Have you thought about doing a dance with someone else in your family in his honor, like your mother, brother or maybe his brother if he has one?
| Well, my father passed away, but I might still have a dance in his honor, I don't know anymore now...
| I like the song, "Parla Piu Piano"-it's the song from the Godfather but the original version, the version with words. I also like "Strangers In the Night". It isn't very father-daughtery but as a kid I always remember him whistling that song.
| I wouldn't do two different songs, one for each dad. I think that would be sort of long for your guests to sit through. I'd switch half way up or something like that. We are including both parents dance in one song. It's just because we've been to so many weddings where these dances just dragged on we are all left sitting there wondering how long the song is.

I haven't decided on mine yet. My fiance told me about the Stealing Cinderella one today.
This sounds really cheesy, but Jessica Simpson wrote one and it is on her CD...the one she made when she was still with Nick....and I actually really like it!

| I have a father and step-dad that I'm close to as well. When I got married the first time, I did the first half of the dance with my birth dad, and then the DJ said something like "the bride would like to invite her stepfather to dance" and they switched off. I thought it was kind of symbolic. Of course, I cleared it with both of them first. If you wanted to do 2 songs, I think that would be fine.

| Isn't there a good one by the Beatles? What about Tim Mc Graw...he has 1 too. Bella

| Yea, I'm not a huge fan of Butterfly Kisses either, but I figured I'd mention it since EVERYONE loves that song, haha!
| I submitted that previos message too soon. Sorry bout that. But I think you should definately dance with both men...how special would that be!!!!!
| I don't like "Butterfly Kisses" at all....I have been to like 7 weddings in the past 2 years and everybody uses that song. I mean it's sweet but enough already. Right now I am debating between "My Little Girl" by Tim Mcgraw and "Ready, Set, Don't Go" by Billy Rae and Miley Cyrus (yes I love Hannah Montana...I have a five year old!!!) I may end up using both!!!

Well, it may seem a little overused, but many people use "Butterfly Kisses" or "My girl"
...and I see no problem having two songs... it's YOUR wedding :-)

Before I was planning to get married I had all sorts of ideas in my head for the father-daughter dance. But now that I need to think about it, my mind is blank! So I was just wondering what songs others were using.
Also, I have a step-dad who is like a father to me, and a father, would it be odd to have 2 different dances?
