| My fiance works with a guy that is also a DJ. He charges $400 for 4 hours and rather than cutting the cost he is going to be there for as long as we want for $400.

Thank you Cougar and Laurilea. Yes I did met him in person first and a few others before I did my decision. The one I decided with he show me a video of the weddings he done he also bargained with me. I am getting a dj and mc. I have another meeting with him a month before the wedding and again a week before. Just to make sure everyhting is to my liking.

The cost for a DJ varies from location to location. A good rule of thumb when hiring a DJ is to get multiple quotes to make sure that you are not getting over quoted for your area. Here in Cincinnati, 600 is the average cost. I've done them as cheap as 250 and upwards to 1400. It all depends on what the bride wants.
My advice is to meet with them in person at least once. I meet once for a planning session at least a month away from the wedding and then if the bride wants, again a week before. You'll be amazed on how much changes in that time.

| That doesn't sound too bad to me. I really haven't started pricing yet and we may end up doing it ourselves. But especially if they have things for kids to do, that's definitely worth it!

Hi everybody, today I booked a DJ and it cost $600 for 4 hours and they do the announcements and also have activity for the kids if any comes. My questions is; was that a good deal? and what all of you are paying for yours?
