| That was a GREAT way to get married! The reception is more for others but the private wedding for just the two of you!

what i did was go through some books at a local bookstore about wedding planning. i even got one that was very helpful, it was kinda like a binder where it had different dividers and stuff in it, and little reminders and tips on what to be doing however far out from the wedding date, etc.
congrats, and above all, remember to have fun!

| I'd love to do that too.. i think if we have at least the reception thing he might go for it.. The only problem is we have very close friends that reeeaally want to be brides maids and best mens.. *sigh* sometimes its seems like weddings are more for everyone else than us. :P

| I just got engaged on Christmas, too! Congratulations! I have a huge family that lives 3000 miles away. We've decided to run off and elope by ourselves, and then have my mom plan a reception back east. Surprisingly, my family is pretty excited and unsurprised...So we're getting married in Hawaii next month (the trip was already planned, so it works out well) and then in October we'll have the big reception deal.

Hey there congratulations, don’t stress yourself!!! Breath you can do this lol Do some research on the net, I got a lot of help from there, and there are tips as to where to start. Also a good idea is to make yourself a wedding blinder, with tabs for different sections like receptions halls, churches, djs, caterers (food), guest list, photographers etc... They sell these wedding planning books but I made mine myself, it`s inexpensive and a great organizational tool. Brainstorm and gather some ideas as to what the two of you would want and remember it’s your day (you & your future hubby) and it’s nice to get opinions but ultimately make the decisions yourself, you’re only doing this once and you don’t want any regrets. But I would have to say that picking a date is the best place to start, then maybe a budget and lastly you need to book certain things way in advance like the church, hall, dj or band, photographer & videographer. My fiancé & I too don’t have a big budget and a lot of guests, I think we have the biggest families in our area, the guest list has been stressful but you can make it work, for instance we would love to have everyone there but realistically we can’t, so we decided not to invite children. It’s hard and you feel bad but it’s the only way. So good luck and if you need help I’m here. Heather
