| Hey I am getting married next July as well. I think the huge part (which is also the hardest) is eating right. I do weight watchers and I find that it is the hardest on the weekends because of alcohol. Which weight watchers provides extra assistance when times like that occur.

I try to eat a little protein with every meal, and I also try to fill up on as many veggies and fruits as I can. I also find that the more water I drink, the better I feel, and the better my skin looks, which we all want for our weddings! I have lost almost 5 lbs. since I started! I am trying to work out at least 3 times a week too (mostly walking or elliptical training for now)

| I agree with everyone else. Drink lots of water and eat vegetables and fruits. I have found that snacking on something like a few small carrot sticks every couple hours really helps. Even having an orange or an apple every few hours helps. That keeps me from eating big meals and splurging. I have also cut out soda completely, which has made a huge difference. It was hard for about a week, but I don't crave it one bit now. Good Luck to all!!!

| My advice is to drink PLENTY of water (get at least 8- 8 oz glasses a day)...That's been working for me! It makes you feel fuller, so you don't get cravings to munch on little things here and there between meals. I've just been sticking to my calorie range that Sparks has given me, and I've been doing Pilates a few times a week...I've lost 5 lbs! yay! My wedding's coming up here in April, so I hope I stay on track!

My best advice to lose fast?
Force yourself to eat healthy (8 cups water, 4 svgs veggies) - you'll be so full, the junk won't be appetizing
Cardio! No more than 30 min at a time. Proably 20 minutes is best - and go HARD at it. If you want to work out more, do 20 min in the morning and 20 min in the evening.
Small meals every 2-3 hours. Keep that metabolism burning! Skipping meals is a great way to lose self control and starve your body.

| The trick is to eat healthy, which is the hardest thing to do. But in reality that is what is going to do it. Working out will help it as well.

| Weightwatchers worked for me in 2005, but I had some financial trials and had to quit going. Even though I knew the program, when I didn't go to weigh in, I gained it back. This time I'm trying a new approach, exercise and lots of it, combined with trying to control portions.

There is no such thing as a perfect weight. I am 5'7 and I weigh 147 but I am curvy and I wouldn't change that for the world! I want to tone up what I've got right now but trying to get to a certain weight because of the number...? Um NO. People carry weight differently and in different places so workout to meet your body type not the # on the scale. By the way, My friend does weight watchers and swears by it. I did it with her for 3 weeks and lost 5 lbs with the points counting and excercise. I gained it all back but it worked while I did it. If I had more weight to lose I would do weight watchers.

The perfect weight really differs for different people. For me, if I get below 130, I look sick. My best friend (who is three inches shorter than me) looks great at 125. My sis (who is four inches taller than me) looks great at 155.
Plus, don't underestimate the fact that, if you lose too much weight for your frame, you'll lose a lot of great assets like your bust.
Personally, I'd like to be 135-140. That would put me in a six 6 probably. (I'm 155 now and an 8). But I'd say just work towards what looks good on you and feels good for you.

I want to 133Ib for my wedding, which isnt until Sept 2009, but hey a girl needs to plan these things lol, espec as we are getting married where our parents are and not where we live. So i have started well in advance so i dont have the weight issues at the front ofmy mind when there are lots more things to panic about!!
But rememeber he asked you, the way you are, so dont fret about the weight, just start healthy eating and exercise habits, and what will be will be in this hectic run up!! Good luck to all the brides to be!!

| I'm getting married in July 2008 too! I have been addicted to Spark People in years past and it always works for me - until I start sliding on my meal tracking then I stop logging on altogether! Well, this new year, I am BACK and this time I will lose at least 20 pounds to be the hot bride my fiance deserves! The food tracking on here is by far the best tool for losing weight - I enter every single thing I eat during a day, and it helps me a lot to plan ahead. When I bring home a jar of almonds or something, I immediately break out the snack baggies and put perfect portions in them so I won't eat the whole thing in a sitting. I bring to work exactly what I plan to eat that day. Tracking, planning, portions, and cardio as KGARDNE9 mentioned, are KEY to getting into bride shape! We can ALL do this!!!

| I would recommend doing STRICTLY cardio for 45 mins 6 days a week, and really watch your sugar intake. Do anything you can to avoid sugar, these days there are so many low sugar or sugar free foods. You will see the pounds melt off! I did, but then had knee surgury and gained it all back!

| I just got engaged... and i totally did not expect it either! He asked on Christmas day and wants to get married this summer... I think maybe its a little too soon, i mean i need time to plan this!! I especially need to lose weight like crazy!! I bought an elliptial trainer and have been useing it for the past week like nuts!! I'm 185 and i need to be at least 150 by the wedding.. whenever that is. Do you think doing the trainer 30 mins a day, everyday is enough or should i do more or something else??? Ive always hated wearing dresses and being in front of people.. why do they have to be white of all colours?!?! gaaaaah!

I just started SP last week with intentions of becomign a runner and losing weight for my may 08 wedding. I have already started seeing results for my 30 lbs loss with the help of meeting my 8+ glasses of water/day and cardio sessions. Just start using the tools on SP and you will be set by July! Plus, there are so many great challenges, communities, and so many of the people on here are such great motivators! good luck and congratulations!

I am going to be a July bride too! If you really want to make changes to loose weight do it for yourself and you health as well as for the wedding, but I so agree that the wedding is a great motivator! Starting out begin by staying in your recommended calorie range and try adding in new exercises each week to keep things interesting and your body responding. There are tons of great articles on here so check out all of SP and incorporate what you learn into your daily life! Congrats and best wishes!

| I think a lot of people are in the same boat - getting married in the near future & wanting to shed some lbs. before the big day. (I am too!) I think the biggest motivator for me is making the website a big part of my everyday life. I've created a sort of competitaion for myself with the spark points - I try to get as many as I can in a day. If you are doing this - you are bound to lose the pounds! Best of luck - when is the big day?
