I am very traditional when it comes to veils and like the history behind them. I personally don't like it when brides wear veils that do not cover their face, since I was always taught that was the prupose of the veil. I am wearing 2 veils, a cathedral and a fingertip, but I'm also wearing a blusher (comes over yoru face) to keep the tradition of the groom not seeing the bride until the veil is lifted.
The way my hair dresser explained to me is that if I want an intricate hair do, we should show it off which would mean not covering it with veils. However, I'm not doing an updo, I'm going much more natural with just a little piece pulled back to anchor my veil, and curls.
Also, think about your dress. If the back of your dress (or your you back) is very intricate and you want to show it off, no veil helps here.
The more formal you wedding, I think the more appropriate for a veil though. It really comes down to preference on just about everything now days though.
| I'd suggest wearing a figuretip veil underneath your hair. That way everyone can still see the beautiful hair but you'll still be able to have the veil.
| The veil thing isn't that big a deal to me. It depends on the dress I think, because mine has a gorgeous corset back that I just can't imagine covering up! Good luck finding one!

I'm wearing a tiara (not a prissy rhinestony one though) and a veil. My veil is going to come half way between my shoulder and my elbow. It's going to be plain with a satin edge. I haven't found it yet, but I know it's out there.

| I had a hard time with this question as well. the veil is really pointless just there for looks and I'm sure it is more in the way than anything. But for myself I decided I have to have one. I just feel like it will complete me on my wedding day. It just make you look more like a bride!! I have the perfect dress the next step is to find the perfect veil :) October 11, 2008 is not that far away!

| Whilst I think veils can look so beautiful, it isn't for me. It would be an unnecessary expense. We're not getting married in a church and I'm not at all religious, and I'd rather have a nice hairdo and tiara or something that I can wear for the whole day without worrying about it getting ruined for some reason!

| I am wearing a veil. I cannot stand to have it over my face though. I know that is more traditional, but it makes me feel so trapped. I found one for a great deal on a sale rack at a bridal store, and couldn't pass up the opportunity. Ebay has some great deals if you are willing to look and purchase things that way. Good Luck!!!

| My wedding was quite a while back (26 years) but I wore a veil. I was going to wear a hat and a simple dress but the dress came in too short and too late to change so I wound up buying a more expensive dress off the rack and couldn't afford the hat any longer. My dress was ecru so I borrowed my mother's veil which was white for her but had yellowed so it was ecru for me. It was sort of cool wearing something of hers. You could take it off after the actual wedding ceremony.

| No veil for me. I want to focus on my hair details (especially the color.. I'm a redhead and it's a fall wedding). Plus, I've seen too many veils cause problems for brides. I might wear clips or a headband though. We'll see how each looks at the hair test.

| I have a veil and a tiara. I picked those out before I even started looking for a dress. I have to do some repair work on my veil because part of it is coming apart. I bought them both from someone else because they were selling their veil, tiara and dress. I love it, and was able to pick out my hair style based on the veil and tiara. The trick has been trying to find a dress that matches the veil and tiara.

| Just to let you know. Loved my veil. Unfortunately the bloody thing fell out even before I got my dress on, and because of childcare issues my hairdresser was long gone. My dear bridesmaids done their best to pin it back into my hair, but it didnt happen. Walked up the aisle paranoid it was going to fall out, and spent the whole ceremony pushing it back in. As soon as the ceremony was over I whipped it out. On the day it didnt matter in the slightest, now though I am so gutted. Wish that it had stayed in for professional photos. So word of advice, make sure you have a practice run rather than winging it on the day. My hairdresser was totally confident she could do it on the day, I wish I had insisted on a trial anyway. X

I'm wearing a veil, I'm having to have it specially made because I couldn't find fabric to match my dress so it's being made out of the same light gold organza that my skirt overlay is made from.
Apparently there could be an issue with being able to actually see through it, but we figured that it's not over my face for too long LOL

| At first I really didn't want to bother with a veil but didn't think I'd feel like a true bride without one. As of now, I'm just going to wear it for the ceremony and take it off at the reception so I didn't want to pay a lot for one. I found a great website, www.veilshop.com, where you can order a veil to you exact specifications. They even send you veil color samples for free so you can match it to your dress.

| I was originally not going to wear a veil because I thought they were silly and an added expense. But my dress is so very bridal, I started considering the veil. It sounds like your hair will be amazing, so you could do what I'm doing, get a shorter veil, mine is the elbow length one, and wear it at the nape of your neck, or a little higher, but UNDER your hairstyle. That way you get the best of both worlds. Plus I found a veil I almost bought for $69. I forget which website, but I'll look. . .I have it saved in an e-mail.
| I say go with out one. It will take away from the details of your hair, or if you really want one, I would suggest changing your hair to something simpler (cost less, and would not be a waste with it being covered by the veil)

| Hi, just after some advice please. I have finally settled on a hairstyle for our big day. It has taken a long time to find a hairdresser capable of getting it how I like it. The decision I now have is if I should have a veil or not. Originally I wasnt, then I was as it made me feel more bridal, then I looked at the price and changed my mind back, then we got some unexpected money and I changed again, (I know, imagine what my H2B is going through), Now the hold up is, my hair is going to be quite intricate, with pearls in it, and it goes accross the whole of the back of my head. Do I wear the veil and miss the amazing hair do and accessories, or do without, but risk feeling less bridal?
