I had the same "oh crap" moment. lol. We still haven't decided what to do about it. Since our reception site doesn't allow their chairs outside, we're also looking at $300-500 for chair rentals to have our wedding outside, so we're looking into just doing it at a nearby church. So far this is the most stressful decision I've had, but we only just started planning, so I'm sure it will get worse. lol

Thanks, Kenj! That's a great idea! Now that you mention it, I think I may even have a cousin who my stepdad told me plays the violin very well. Maybe she could play for us, and then she would be a part of our special day!

i recently had the same problem. i decided that the easiest (most tastful) thing to do was to fork out a bit of extra cash for a violinist. it will be very simple music to go with a peaceful park atmosphere and i don't have to worry about tripping over extension cords. it only set my back $100 and we decided it would be totally worth it for overall effect.

I just had what I'm sure will be the first of many wedding panic moments! I was reading the message boards about ceremony music when it hit me: we are having an outdoor ceremony, but an indoor reception, so our DJ will be inside setting up his equipment during our ceremony. My problem is, how can I play our processional and recessional music without creating more hassle for the DJ? I thought about bringing a portable CD player and hiding it in the trees behind our outdoor altar, that way it would play for the guests but not look completely tacky. The problem with that is I may have to have someone stop the music or change tracks depending on how smoothly the ceremony progresses. Any suggestions/thoughts? Thanks!
