With my fiancé, what worked really well was telling him how much working out will kick up his energy and his sex drive. He got on board with that real quick. :)

Well you could ask him to go for a walk with you every night after supper...that way he wont' really feel like he is working out and then once he starts to feel better about himself than maybe he will start to exercise more. But I wouldn't push him too much in to it, you have to let him make the decision on his own and if he is happy with the way he looks than it should be fine. You love him for who he is not what he looks like right! Plus, you don't want to start your marriage off on the wrong foot!

I think u should let it be. If he's ok with how he looks then end of discussion. All that matters is that the two of you are happy and in love. Unless he's really over-weight and the Doctors' tell him to lose weight there shouldn't be a need. I agree with Carlarose....There's more to a wedding and marriage than the wedding pictures....

My BF has never bothered me about my weight, he loved me up to my heaviest weight, and continues to love me on my way back down. If he wants to lose weight, I'll certainly encourage him, but I'm not going to try to convince him to lose weight when he never did that to me. I'm losing weight for the wedding for me, not for him, or anyone else. If he's happy the way he is, its just fine with me.

Ariannefc, I agree with you about the weights! I told him I'd lose weight so he could carry me across the threshold next year, and then he started lifting weights to get ready.

I just got married 5/27/07. The #1 motivator to getting my husband to work out is when I do it. He wants to be with me AND doesn't want me getting skinny without him!! lol

You cant MAKE anyone do something they dont want to. For such a long time my fiancee refused to eat healthier, and would even sabotage me so that he could get junk!

Then one day it just clicked for him, and he realized that he NEEDED to do something NOW! So far he has lost 15lbs...and I couldnt be happier...we both have about 50 more to lose. He is a great support, and my constant motivator...

I hope your fiancee will 'see the light' and make an attempt to get healthy!

Don't put too much struggle into trying to get him to be healthier. If it happnes, it happens. Just make sure that his laziness does not affect your healthy living. I cannot stress this enough.

You could try maybe buying a set of weights. Guys seem to like lifting weights more than any other cardio type exercise, or at least my fiance does. Granted it doesn't do as much for like belly fat as cardio does, but it's a start. Once he starts feeling stronger, he'll probably want to work out with you.

Hi Date Twin... I think there's probably nothing you can really do to MAKE him exercise. For my fiance, he finally joiined the gym when I found out they were having a boxing and martial arts class. Since then, he's been going faithfully, and I know he feels better about himself. You could try doing other things- go swimming, throw a frisbee, take a hike together- that are exercise, but may not feel like it to him. BUT, no matter what, be sure to continue with your exercise and such even if he doesn't!! You can keep the Spark going!! Good luck! - amanda

My wedding is coming up (oct 6, 2007) and I've been eating healthy, exercising, and making good progress towards looking the way I want to for the wedding. My fiance has not made any attempt to work out or be healthy. He's lost a little weight just because I've been cooking healthier. I know if he doesn't lose weight, he'll be unhappy with how he looks in the photos. Any advice on motivating him to workout now?
