And just in case you didn't see where I was going with my ramblings below, what I meant was perhaps if you got your hair cut into a slightly different style--like the long layers I had--the petite bridal style you want would be easier to achieve. The layers take a lot of the weight out of long thick hair and you still get the long hair look.

How long is your hair now? It might be the right time to get a new style. . .I'm a long hair person too, Cherokee heritage, so may hair was all one length and down almost to my waist. I loved it. But, I couldn't get it to look cute like all my friends, so finally I got long layers cut into it. And then I kept cutting it shorter, all the way up to my shoulders. . .but I digress. After I got my long hair cut into a more sophisticated and put together style, it became much easier to manage, and much easier to style when I had to get it done as a bridesmaid. . .Just an idea. . .BTW, I'm growing my hair back out long, haven't had it cut in 4 months.

Had another hair trial last night. Much nicer woman. Done a great job with my hair, although Im still not completely convinced. My hair is too long and thick to have the hairstyle as petite and delicate as I would like it. What this woman done was secure and tidy and sophisticated though, so Im going to go with her. I am tempted to get my hair cut into a long bob as I had it 5 years ago, even dug out old photos with my bridesmaid last night to ask her opinion. Serious thinking to do. x

Just wanted to keep you all updated. Really appriciate your advice. I had another hair trial booked for tuesday afternoon, I had to cancel as I had double booked myself and couldnt get out of the other thing. Rang the women with over a weeks notice and she was really off with me, abruptly told me she wouldnt be able to do it then as she was really busy, then going on holiday. Do mobile hairdressers really earn that much money that they can just brush potential customers off like that? Luckily I have found another women who is up to the challenge and she is coming over on thursday night. I had given her a warning about the 'problems' other hairdressers have encountered, but shes not been put off. Fingers crossed for me please. XXX

Find a new hairdresser! I agree that it was only your TRIAL! You can find better, just look around!

Most importantly, don't do anything drastic! Don't let your hairdresser and your emotions win over what you have been working so hard to achieve! You can and will get through this!

I would have to agree, find a different hairdresser. If she can only do 'a couple' do's she isnt good enough! PLUS it is YOUR wedding, you should be able to have your hair however YOU want it...me I am not sure how I am going to do my hair, but if at the time of the wedding my hair is too short for an 'up do' I will add extensions!

Good luck finding the perfect 'do!

I have long thick hair too, and I've never had someone tell me that. Try another hairdresser.

Yes, find another hairdresser! Ask around and get some recommendations from friends or co-workers. Leaf through a bridal or hair magazine to get some updo ideas.

...and above all, smile, breathe a big sigh of relief and be glad that it was just a hair TRIAL! That's what the trial is for, to mess around so you can get your hair right before the big day! At least now you have some ideas of what you DON'T want, right?

Wow, you really need to find a new hairdresser- someone who will listen to what you want and -at the very least- show up on time! I wouldn't even trust her recommendation- find someone else!

Just had a hair trial. Hairdresser turned up 30minutes late. Told me my hair is really thick and that she can only do a couple of up dos on long hair. Didnt like them, at all. Didnt listen to what I wanted. Fed up. Want to cut all my hair off. If it was a shoulder length bob I wouldnt need to worry about getting it up neat and tidy. Really depressed. She did say she will try and get me the phone number of another hairdresser that might beable to help though. Fingers crossed. X Want to eat bad stuff now. X
