One other thing. You said you didn't know how much weddings cost. Probably one of the first things you should do is start getting an idea of prices in your area. Call some florists, photographers, etc., and get a basic price just so you have something to compare to your package deal.

I think it really depends on how you feel about the planning process. If you are the type of person who likes to be hands-on and do all of the planning yourself, and do DIY projects, probably doing a package deal is not going to make you happy because someone else will be doing most of the planning. You'll get to plan the food, flowers, colors, of course; but I mean if you have your heart set on looking at different locations and interviewing different vendors, cake tastings, etc, a package might not be the right choice for you.
On the other hand, if you are the type of person who will make themselves crazy dealing with a bunch of different people, and their schedules, meetings, details, worrying about all the different vendors doing what their supposed to do and coming through for you in the end a package deal might be a little less stressful. You'll still get to do the fun stuff, but it's all in one place.
As for the cost, $6000-8000 for the whole deal seems pretty good. I don't know where you're located, or what your wedding market is like, but that seems completely reasonable. I'm doing a lot of the stuff myself, and I didn't do a package vendor deal, and I'm still spending $6000, and I have all the added stress that goes along with it! LOL.
Just some things to think about. GL

So, I have no idea how much a wedding cost. I am looking at wedding chapels and I am wondering if it is better to pay $6000-$8000 for a package, which includes everything, cakes, decorations, limo, dj, chapel, reception, 5 odeors (?) and all that, basically everything but your clothes. Or if it'd be cheaper to do everything yourself. Anyone have any clue.
