Are you going to do a make-up trial? As a suggestion, you might want to consider having the person that's going to do it for your wedding do it beforehand to make sure you like her work.

I wish that I could do my own makeup! I always look shinny in pictures - I even use the bare minerals, so nothing gressy or anything! I have made an appointment to have it done on the wedding day and it comes with a trial run. I think that I am going to have it done for the bridal pictures, but what if those pictures come out shinny??? Oh, geesh, I have got to stop worrying about this - it will all be fine!

I'm getting my trial at the end of the month, can't wait. I really don't want to switch hairdressers, she's really good. As for the fake stuff to put in, I got it so that's covered LOL I'm doing my own make-up. I can do a nice job myself, I'm going to glam it up. I usually don't wear much but I love dolling it up to go out so I'll do something like that for the wedding. I was originally gong to wear a fun red lipstick but we did a photo shoot and the lipstick I wore made my teeth look nice, LOL so shallow!

I think you should do what you want to do. Remember you're going to have to look at those pictures for the rest of your life, do what makes you happy and makes you feel you looked good.

i agree with u gals... it is best to keep it as close to what u normally have... so that u won't feel uncomfortable with too much makeup or a strange hairdo on that day. i seldom wear makeup either, but will wear a very light natural makeup in 'nude' tones/colours on the day. :)

My advice on hairstyles would be to keep it close to how you would usually wear it, I will be wearing my hair in 3 smooth low twisted buns at the bottom of my neck. The reason behind this is because I always wear my hair in a ponytail, when it is down it gets in my face and pee's me off. Everyone keeps telling me to wear it down, I have long thick blonde hair, which does look nice down, but again, it pee's me off. I want to look like me on my wedding day, not a tarted up version of me. I am also keeping my make-up as close to mine as possible, although that is another area people are getting on my back about.

hmm... unfortunately, my hairdresser doesn't do bridal hairdo. i have a makeup artist for the day who will also be doing my hair. i've told her i prefer not to wear my hair up, and she said i can let her know any preferred style and she will implement it for me. so now, i'm searching for ideas on the web. found a few at www.theknot.com but not that many for hair-down styles.

I went to my salon friday...to get my eyebrows waxed...and I had my hair pulled up in like a "puffball" it looked BAD!!!! And I always have my sunglasses on my head....well I was in a bad mood and my stylist was like "WOW girl you should totally wear it like that in the wedding!?!?!?!" and I was like "you know what I may just do that...it how I always wear it so why not?!?!?!" MY MOM WOULD DIE!

hi, i'm also looking for ideas of what to do with my hair during my wedding dinner. i have straight hair just below shoulder length and don't intend to wear it up... but long and flowing. my wedding dress is quite simple - ivory tube top with A-line skirt and simple beading and embroidery.

anybody have any ideas or suggestions on how to make my hairdo more 'formal' without having to wear it up?

Evelyn you might also want to consider going to a different hairstylist. If she isn't giving you any suggestions, she isn't really doing her job very well. That's just my opinion.

My example: I was sort of forced into having a new hairstylist, as my former one had left the salon I usually went to. I don't go often, only once or twice a year, so this wasn't too big of a deal.

I ended up with the only male stylist in the salon, which worried me a bit (I'd only ever seen him doing the stray males that happened upon the salon, lol) and I asked him for my usual trim plus a bit of layering. I've got long-ish hair and I like it that way.

He had loads of suggestions on what to do. He wasn't really happy with the idea of keeping it long, but after a while we reached a compromise. It was shorter than I'd expected, but still long, and he'd really done a lot with the ends (hard to explain, but there was almost a different layer of hair there. It added a lot of movement.)

I now totally love this guy. ;) And I would completely trust him to come up with a hairstyle that would look good on me.

Maybe ask your friends if they've got suggestions for someone local to you who does nice work? Also, if your hair is thin, a good stylist should be able to add some fake hair into a chignon or whatever you end up with. That's how all the Hollywood chicks manage to look like they have massive amounts of hair compared with the rest of us. seriously! :)

Hi all, Thanks for the input - I started growing my hair last year - IMO it's worth it just to have more options. My hair is very thin so I do need to have as much as possible LOL (my hairdresser made me get hair).

My hairdresser wont' make suggestions, even when I get it cut I ask her for advice and she doesn't really offer much, I think that's so I don't blame her if I don't like it...

I found a couple of updo's on the knot, and have an issue of instyle wedd & martha stewart wedd - I really wish I can see something and say "that's it" there's a side chignon on the knot that I like and am leaning to it. But like I said there's a part of me that wants funky because that goes with my personality.

here's the chignon

this is a neat one too, right now it's choice #1

BTW here's the dress so you get an idea of the style

I think a chignon would go beautifully with what you described. If you want to see more pretty ideas, check out www.TheKnot.com. They have hundreds of photos of hairstyles to look at. Also Brides.com. Both are good places.

Good luck!

P.S. I'm having hair issues too. I cut my hair into a short choppy bob last fall and now I'm trying to decide if growing it out for the wedding next year would be a good idea!

I too am having trouble figuring that out--however I have shorter hair so my options are kind of limited. I'm getting my hair cut on Saturday (out of state--sounds bizarre but its not). I'm going to ask the girl if she has any ideas--I've searched online but I figure if there is anyone to ask it would be someone who does brides' hair and my hair for that matter.

I'm having a hard time deciding what to do with my hair, I have a tiara and a veil that I want to wear, my dress is very simple and the wedding is informal during the day - I'm debating on something classy like a side chignon or something fun and funky, I'm even considering wearing it down with waves. Do any of you know of any good websites where I can see photos of different hairstyles? I can't believe I'm having such a hard time deciding!

THANKS!
