I want to take the bodice off after and keep it as a top to pair with jeans or a skirt for parties, etc. I love it and I think it will look great! I saw some pics in bridal mags and love the idea. Maybe I will make something of the skirt too, but what I don't know yet.

I don't understand... Why would you want to destroy your dress? I'm spending more money on this dress than any other I'll ever wear, and I hope that one of my (hypothetical) daughters will want to wear it. I might take a swatch from it and start a family quilt, too.
But hey, if it's what you want, have fun! Just drive safe :)

I think it's a cool idea... why not!? The photos look awesome!
I will have 2 separate outfits, one for the ceremony and one for the reception... but there is NO WAY I would trash either of mine. The ceremony outfit is an antique, and the one for the reception I am planning on having dyed a dark color so I can wear it as a formal gown!
If I had a new gown that couldn't be reworked or dyed, though... you'd better believe I would do it.

| I've heard of it! I think it's soo cool. I love the idea of having great pictures of my dress than actually keeping the dress in perfect condition. I mentioned this idea to my mom and she shot it down pretty quickly...We'll see..things may change.

| That's a very interesting concept. I would hate to ruin my dress, but some of the pictures are very interesting and not so bad. I would love to get our pictures taken on a carousel.

| I've never heard of that... and I would have a very difficult time destoying my $800 gown... that is over two weeks of me working. But have fun when you do yours!

Has anyone see/heard of the idea of "trashing the dress?" www.trashthedress.com has some cool pictures and ideas. We recently came up with a plan for my dress trashing, for the weekend or so after our honeymoon. My fiance wanted to go from the church to our reception location on a motorcycle, cuz he's a motorcycle nut. I say no way. (I'm mean, but come on!) So, we decided that we'll take his bike out after the honeymoon and get some great pics of us riding, me in my dress! It'll be pretty funny, me in my dress and bright pink helmet, but I think it'll be really neat. I figure I'm not going to be able to resell my dress because I'll be chopping off about a foot for it to fit me, and we all know our kids aren't going to wear them. And if I really want to keep it, I can get it cleaned after the motorcycle ride and whatever else we choose to do.
