We picked out a fun picture and had save the date cards printed. It was really inexpensive. Then I went to the craft store and got some little bottles. shells, scroll paper, and small wooden boxes and sent those out in theme with the actual wedding.

I just ordered my invitations from Rexcraft. They all came back perfect just how they were supposed to. We got our picture printed on the front, and they were still really inexpensive.

you could design something fun yourselves (if you can be bothered) and then just get a printing place to print them up for you at minimal cost and effort to yourselves.

I ordered my invites from www.wedding.orders.com (remember the "." in the middle, weird, but that's what it is, haha) and they have tons of invitations from different companies. I think the ones I chose were originally from Invitations by Dawn, but they were cheaper on this website!

i am also making my own, and i am really enjoying it.

i did buy the save the date cards from vistaprint though - they were less than £2.50 ($5) for 25 cards and they are magnetic so older people like my gran could stick it to their fridge where it would not get lost!

my sister got hers from woolworths - they were quite cheap there, but i preferred something a little more special.

the best tip i have is to go for something really personal to you. we live in scotland, and our invitations are going to be written in scots, for example:

susan and william are gettin' marriet

it wud be jist lovely if you cud jyne them after fae a dram o' whisky

this is just an example, but we loved the idea and i think it will make them really personal and quirky. maybe its not to everyones taste, but we love it!

I am hand crafting all of my invitations, since we are having a very small affair. I am a 2nd generation graphic designer, so I am sure my dad will help me if I need it.

You can also try VistaPrint, if you don't want lithography.

Magnetstreet.com keeps sending me information too, but I am not really doing all that for a 20 person guest list.

I just ordered a bunch of samples from this place:
www.seal-n-send.com

They are all-one-piece invites, which I think is cool...less paper to be thrown away. And they are really good price-wise.

I got Carlson Craft invitations at a Party City store -- at first I thought that they'd be ugly/cheap looking, but we ended up getting beautiful raised-lettering invitations for an incredible price. Soooo glad I didn't waste extra hundreds of dollors on Crane or similar invites!! Go to a place where you can see (and feel) the actual cards rather than just buying online, you'll still get a huge discount, and the peace of mind is much much better.

Check out the local scrapbooking stores/website, I betcha you will find them materials to make them yourself, or there will be someone doing it already.

Carleton Cards has some nice ones pre-printed.

Birchcraft has great prices on invitations. Most sites will give you a 25% discount on them. Any site setup like this:
www.yourinvitationplace.com/celebrazione (with any name after the /) is a Birchcraft dealer.

I can name 4 people off the top of my head who recently had issues w/ Carlson Craft. They were always great, but, I'm nervous about hearing so many really bad stories lately. That's why I'm not recommending them or Regency. They're owned by the same company.

I just ordered ours from MyJeanM.com and I love them. They are "Chic," in aqua and white with a platinum ribbon. It was about $300 for 50, including reply cards.

If we were having a much larger wedding, I would have begged a graphic designer friend to create something unique and then I would have had them printed.

I used theamericanwedding.com - David's Bridal offers a 10% discount, but ONLY on the invitations, not of the total order. I thought that was kind of a rip!

The invitations from TheAmericanWedding.com were wonderful! They shipped really fast and they look really great!

Thanks for all of the great suggestions! I've already checked out www.theamericanwedding.com and found a few that I like. I'm going to check out the other websites mentioned as well!

I just got my invitations from mygatsby.com. They were a little more pricey than some other online vendors but they were exactly what I wanted. You could also try your local Hallmark shop, they have books you can look at and you can get them custom printed. Some other online choices are www.invitationsbydawn.com, www.now-and-forever.com (I ordered some of my wedding things there and they were gorgeous!) Hope this helps!

I forgot to add that there's invitations on the David's Bridal website, too!

My sister used theamericanwedding.com they were relatively cheap and very nice. My brother in law to be is customizing and doing ours (he's a graphic designer and amazing artists). When I have our final product I'll post pictures to share.

We want the invitations to be printed, rather than us having to deal with printing on our own computer. But we don't want to spend a fortune on something that's just going to be thrown away by our guests. We found some goods deals at Costco. Any other suggestions for places to get invitations?
