I have to say I'm feeling a little sad after reading some of these menus and the pricing!! LOL Your menus sound outstanding, and the pricing is awesome! I think we have a great menu, but it's costing $125/person (which includes the bar, of course). Sounds like some of you are getting fantastic deals! Thank goodness our reception is only for 45 people, or we'd be in serious trouble! LOL

We met and fell in love in Memphis, so we're doing a Memphis themed dinner. Mini Memphis bar-b-que sandwiches with slaw ON THEM! Mini cornbread muffins, blackeyed peas, Memphis ribs (AND I'm gonna be in a WHITE DRESS!!), mini fried chicken drumsticks, sweet tea, and then the typical vegetable, fruit, and cheese assortments. My fiance is originally from New Hampshire so his groom's cake is New England Patriots themed.

A goom's cake is a separate cake, but it's not reserved for just certain people. Traditionally, it was either a fruit cake or a rum cake and was given as a favor (in some cultures it is still belived that if a single woman sleeps with a piece of the groom's cake under her pillow she will dream of her future husband).
Now for a question, Does anyone have any ideas for a menu that will accomodate people on different diets? (my grandmother's on the south beach Diet and several of my relatives are on Weight Watchers)

What is a groom's cake? Is it a separate cake for the groom and groomsmen? Does the bride get a seperate cake? (I like that idea)

We are holding our ceremony in an outdoor location but with a roof. It's a morning ceremony so we were going to have linen lined baskets filled with:
muffins croissants bread and butter sandwiches bottled water
We know many of our guests will be too busy trying to make themselves look pretty to eat breakfast so we felt this was important to have at the ceremony.
Our reception is held at a revolving restaurant that gives awesome views of the ocean, mountains, and the downtown core.
Unfortunately, for luncheons they have a strict 3 item menu and it's a served sit-down meal that includes:
bread and butter (we are negotiating this cause it's not a part of the menu) Ceasar salad Salmon filet OR Chicken Tuscana Creme Brulee
Dinner: Chef salad with house dressing (sorta an italian vinegrette) Rolls/butter Choice of main dish: Chicken in a lemon garlic sauce, filet mingnon, vegetarian dish Sides: Roasted garlic mashed potatoes, vegetables, ziti with marinara sauce
Dessert: Chocolate fountain with all the trimmings!! Chocolate cake with custard filling :-D Yellow cake with strawberry filling :-D
MOM2SIX 3/5/07 8:52 A
I hope we get time to taste it all! lol
CRAZYKEWL 3/5/07 12:23 A

This thread could be fun!
We have on our menu:
Veggie tray with dip Chocolate covered strawberry tree Fruit platter with pina colada dip BBQ pork made in a smoker Cole Slaw Roasted corn on the cob Baked beans Rolls Cream cheese brownies Vanilla 3 tier wedding cake Caramel apples (fiance's favorite dessert and a surprise for him in place of a groom's cake)
We're having a casual 'family reunion' type of wedding outdoors.
CRAZYKEWL 3/4/07 3:22 P
Ahh, good to know about the rice :D
TERRI77 3/4/07 2:05 P
Nothing on my menu, I'm not planning a wedding, yet.
I think Spanish rice usually contains Tomatoes while pilaf doesn't. I'm sure there are more differences but that's all that comes to mind now.
**SARA** 3/4/07 11:08 A
I really need to figure this out.
CRAZYKEWL 3/4/07 5:02 A
I havent confirmed our menu yet but. . .
i know i want 3 salads -caeser -garden -shrimp pasta
I want 3 sides -roasted red nugget potatos -roasted red, green and yellow pepeprs - either spanish rice or rice pilaff (I honestly dont know the diff lol)
And for the main dish -roast beef carved at the table -a roasted or baked chicken dish -maybe a samon dish
(there will also be some sort of vegan dish, im not sure what that consists of though)
We are also having fruit, veggie, meat and cheese trays between ceremony and reception while our pictures are getting taken, and more trays of this served at 10pm for a snack.
Cake will be 3 teired, each teir a different flavor 1st- Chocolate Fudge cake with raspberry cream filling 2nd- Strawberry short cake 3rd- milk chocolate with either mocha or hazelnut filling
mmmm. . . i just got pretty hungry lol
Whats on your meun Terri?
TERRI77 3/3/07 10:28 P
Of course that's my favorite subject when it come to weddings! Oh, and the wedding cake counts as part of the menu.
