I like that one, Fishwater. It goes well with true love is when both people believe they got better than they deserve.

Marriage is finding that special person that you want to annoy for the rest of your life.

I don't want to turn this conversation into a religious argument, but I can't stand those who force their beliefs on others. Marriage doesn't have to include God. It's a civil and social entity as well.

Love is love.

Marriage is the union of two PEOPLE, not necessarily a man and a woman (yes, I am a "heathen" from the North who believes gay marriage should be legal) who have chosen to dedicate their entire selves to one another.

Marriage is a covenant between husband and wife, instituted by God to be a symbol of the relationship of Christ and His Church. The husband being a representation of Christ, and the wife the Church. The husband is to love his wife as Christ loves the Church, and the wife is to submit (*gasp*) to and be served by her husband as the Church is to submit to and be served by Christ.

Came across this funny one....

"Marriage is a lot like the army, everyone complains, but you'd be surprised at the number that re-enlist." - James Garner

this is my opinion:

The secret to having a good marriage is to understand that marriage must be total, it must be permanent, and it must be equal.

IMHO....Marriage should be 2 people who love each other through thick and thin and are able to listen and forgive.

I saw a really cool definition on a church kiosk the other day...
" A successful marriage is the merging of 2 very forgiving individuals"

I am going on my second marriage so based on my failure of the first I can tell you that this is DEFINITELY true!

Everyone has his or her definition of marriage. I would love to know yours.

Here's one definition I love.....

Marriage is not a ritual or an end.
It is a long, intricate,
intimate dance together
and nothing matters more
than your own sense of balance
and your choice of partner
