My FI and I are taking dancing lessons, so that we can really show off at the reception! We both love the rat pack, so we are planning on picking a Sinatra song for the first dance. We're leaning towards "Ain't love a kick in the head". Another choice would be an old jazz favourite is "They all laughed" (the song they danced to at the end of 'The Whole Nine Yards'). We're going all Ginger Rogers and Fred Estaire!
"From the rising of the sun to its setting, let the name of the Lord be praised."

|
| We are doing something soooo untraditional. We're going with a rather wacky country song that even has a line dance. And it's not your normal country song either. It's going to be unexpected and it's going to have people laughing.
|
|
|
|
| I think ours will be You're so beautiful- pat mcguire band. It is kind of fast so we may also do a love ballad.

Ours is True Love Ways by Buddy Holly.

I think we have a winner for a first dance song between me and my soon to be hubby. As the World Falls Down by David Bowie, it was in the movie the Labyrinth. This song really explains everything for us, our relationship, our hopes and dreams and of course falling in love. We were listening to it and I think it just clicked.
I'm going to have test it somehow and make sure this is what we are doing.

| I went to see Daver Matthews when he came to England earlier this year. I'll be walking down the aisle to 'lover lay dow', as I think that is sucha beautiful song, and when we first met it was always on in the car.

I really like the song "Aint love a kick in the head" from sinatra. Hubby 2 be is not too sure of it. Then I like Nick Lachey's "This I Swear". This one he's sorta warming up to. Unfortunately we have different tastes in music. Not that I don't like his music I just don't want our first song to be a Greatful Dead song, however I guess I wouldn't mind Pink Floyd. OOOooooo David Bowie. I like David Bowie, does he have any songs with love in it?

| Backerbabe, have you been to any concerts together? Maybe you can start by finding a band that you both like or that has meaning to you, and then seeing if they have a good first dance song. Good luck!

We can't decide on a song however I would like Rascal Flatts Long Slow Beautiful Dance, however my fiance is not warming up to him, meanwhile the songs he picks are just not even romantic or have love in it. We would like a different song however we don't want the traditional songs like At Last or L O V E or Frank Sinatra songs, though don't get me wrong I love them I just wnat to be different because that's just who we are and it would be wierd if we danced to a common song.
I hope we can figure something out without killing each other.
Any suggestions?
|

We can't decide, although we have nearly a year to make up our minds!
It's between:
All I want is you, U2 For your precious Love, Otis Reading Amazing, Luther Vandross.
Any comments welcome!

We are using a nice mix of Patsy Cline Songs... Especially a verse from Crazy, it has this meaning for us but the song in general is not what you would call a wedding song. So we're mixing it up so to speak.
The band Black Label Society uses the song Crazy as their into. And when me and him started dating and I didn't have a clue who BLS was he made the comment that if I ended up loving BLS he was going to have to marry me. I ended up loving them.

We're dancing to "The day before you" by Rascal Flatts. It was never released on the radio, but on one of their CD's. It fits our life together perfectly.
My favorite part of the song is: "Oh, but Heaven knows those years without you Were shapin' my heart for the day that I found you You're the reason for all that I've been through Then I'm thankful for the day before you-"
...I think it sums up how we both feel about each other.

| Another good Beatles song is "I Will" We debated for a while with a lot of different songs, but we picked the one easiest to dance to, and not too long. The Losers I loved were "They All Laughed" (the one at the end of The Whole Nine Yards, my fiance loves it) and "First Day of My Life" by Bright Eyes. We're still dancing to them at the wedding, just not first.

We started just for the wedding, but it ended up being so much fun and it's something we spend time doing together (since we're both so busy these days) not to mention the awesome cardio! The sooner you start the better, they say a lot of couples come in too late and aren't as comfortable as they could have been had they come in earlier. Have fun!!

We have another uncommon song, "Thin Air" by Pearl Jam. My fiance is a huge fan so I gave him the requirments for a song by Pearl Jam: 1) must use the word love, 2) must be slow enough to dance to, 3) no swearing. It was a daunting task, as he only came up with one song, it has really grown on me. He also proposed to me at a Pearl Jam concert, so go figure :-)
