My fiance is lineman apprentice so he has yet to work with in 45 minutes over home in the last 16 months. He got injured in July and was off for 5 months and it really put it into perspective of what are life is like. I enjoy all the time we spend together, but then also enjoy the time apart. He travels 90% of the time and usually ends up staying in a hotel with other guys. Which also means our conversations at night are pretty short and to the point. His first week back to work and he stayed at a hotel all week, really made him appreciate everything I do for him while he is gone and can't be there. And I fully realize how dangerous his job is when he got hurt. Space in a realtionship prior to marriage will either make it a better one or break it if either of them can't deal with it.

wow. i didnt get to go back packing, i had to stay home. he went to seattle for a business trip. and it was only for a week. we have been spending so much time together because of the wedding that i think it was good for us to be apart. makes you realize what you have when they get back and how amazing they are! j

i went backpacking in europe for three weeks (lost 5 pounds, built stamina, increase muscle tone, and feel great!) and while i was gone it really helped put my future life and personal life in perspective.

my family all thought i would come home and decide i hadnt lived enough life to be married yet but the exact opposite happened! now i know i am ready, more so than ever.

we have been living together for a few years now so being away for 3 weeks really felt like an eternity to both of us.

i know it has been said a million times before, but you really cant appreciate what you have until you dont have it for awhile.

so my advice to sparkers? take a trip. take a load off. get away from your hubby-to-be for a bit. especially if you are planing a wedding. the reduction in stress will make you feel rejuvinated!!!!

ps - i know taking 3 weeks off isnt realistic for everyone. i run a web based company and have no kids but even if you just need to try to get away for a weekend ALONE to just veg out and write in your journal and nap for 12 hours straight each day, it is worth it!
