| PS You can also do a google search for "Catholic Wedding" and you'll get some great websites. Try out BustedHalo.com (a site for 20 something Catholics) and www.catholic.net. They are great resource sites.

My fiance and I are both Catholic, and we're having a Catholic wedding.
There are 2 kinds:
A wedding with a Mass (which is more formal and takes quite a bit longer)
Or
A simple wedding ceremony where you only receive the sacrament of marriage and don't receive communion. This is a much shorter way to get married.
My man & I are having a Mass, but it's not the only way. Have you been through Pre Cana?
Also, you can have 2 readings at your ceremony. Pick the Bible verses that mean the most to you. You can also have family members or friends stand up and read them for you.
The only thing is, you and your fiance will have your backs to the guests throughout the whole thing.
Good luck and God bless!

| The only weddings I have ever been to have been Catholic. If I were you, I would go to a regular mass someday...the wedding is going to be about the same, just with a few things changed for the wedding. Also, talk to the priest because things vary so much between churches.

Well, this might not get read b/c it's been a while since anyone has posted here, but my husband and I had a Catholic wedding last summer. I had also just converted and was scared about what was going to happen. My priest and fiance were very nice and explained everything. Our service was right at an hour long, but it felt like 5 minutes b/c of everything we did, and my hubby and I were so into each other to care about the time. Just relax and enjoy the beautiful union God will be uniting you in! And one day I'm sure you'll look back and be so glad you had such a beautiful service.

DF= dear fiance fh= future husband
Sorry I didn't get back to you.. like all the others said, you should be able to have your dad walk you down the aisle. Lots of Catholic Churches do things differently, so like someone else said, be sure to set up a meeting with your Priest soon and he will go over it with you!

You won't be standing there for 40 or 50 minutes. A catholic wedding mass is very similar to a "regular" mass in many aspects. You have readings, gospel, homily, communion. All of that with the added vows, rings, signing of the register part. So you'll be standing, sitting, kneeling... everything you would do during a normal sunday mass. They give you chairs because you won't be sitting in the pews with your guests.
HTH.

| KIKI - I am not sure that I like the idea of the front and center part for too long! I have heard that they give the bride and groom chairs at some point since it is so long!! I would be worried that I might fall over after standing up there for 40-50 minutes!!

| I am Catholic and my FI is not. We are having our wedding in the church, but are not having a mass because he is not Catholic. He was willing to convert, but we just didn't find it necassary. In my understanding the only difference is is that there is no communion where you go and take the body and blood of Christ. This is what makes them long because you have to wait for everyone. But if it is that important to your FI it shouldn't be a big deal. You will just be front and center even longer!!

I have been in and been to a lot of catholic weddings.
As far as your dad walking you down the aisle, this is just like any other wedding. He can still walk you down with your DF at the front.
It sounds like you know a lot about the catholic church as you have probably gone through a lot of classes to get confirmed. There will be readings just as in a mass, but you can pick those people you want to do the readings.
If you have any more questions you can ask them on here or email me.
Good luck!

we are both Christian Orthodox and we had an Orthodox wedding. Catholic weddings are not as long as Orthodox weddings but both are lovely!!! it's a very nice experience and even though we don't really go to church often, we loved the service. i have a couple of photos on my SP Page. do talk to ur fiance abt it and ask friends if they have a DVD from a Catholic wedding. relax, it's going to be awesome
oh and talk to the priest. he'll explain everything abt the service and what you are supposed to do. at our wedding the told us step by step b/c we were so excited we totally forgot what he said the day b4 LOL :)

When I was reading over the information, they have a section about the procession. It says that "the ministers (e.g. cross bearer, servers, etc) go first, followed by the priest, and then by the bride and groom. They may be escorted by at least their parents and the two witnesses." I really want to have my dad give me away and have Chris waiting up at the front for me, like in other weddings that I have been to.
Is this possible?
Any other details that might make planning easier or anything that you can think of that might be insightful would be great!!! Thanks!!!

My boyfriend is Catholic and I am will be confirmed at Easter. We are planning for a Catholic wedding in the fall of 2007 (have not set a date, waiting on the church). I have never been to a Catholic wedding before, it sounds really long and really serious and not at all how I had envisioned my wedding. Being Catholic and having a Catholic wedding are really important to him, so I don't really mind, I was just wondering if anyone has been to or better yet had a Catholic wedding. I just want some details and facts and ideas to make it special and my own and stuff like that!!
