| I got married last summer on the beach. I was going to do the sand ceremony but my sister did it last year so I wanted something different. My mom used small pink rose silk flowers which my Grandma had kept some, so I took those and made a large rose, and my husbands mom had used yellow roses in her wedding so we got a silk yellow rose. We had a vase at the front near where we were standing, and as the moms came up they put their rose in, then during the ceremony our officiant said a little bit about how the roses represent our families and their love and devotion (35 years for my parents and 29 years for his) and then we went and put a red rose in to symbolize us. She also talked about how we would keep it in our house to look at in times of stress or need as a symbol of our families and the love that we had on our wedding day.

I am trying to find unique, creative, and fun ideas to do instead of a unity candle. I'm not that interested in the candles, wine, or sand ideas, but I love the tradition and symbolism behind it. If anybody has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks a bunch.
