I'm also August 4th! We are getting married alone then, and having a real big ceremony later. He's in the Army and will be going overseas this fall, and our families are on the opposite side of the country and can't get here. But I'd still like to look good for pics when we get married, even if it isn't the "real" ceremony yet.

| I am getting married August 25th. It seems to be far away, but still close. I am too also doing my invitation this week and sending them out. Question for anyone, how do you get the bar on saying what you started at and your goal?? Is everyone planning their own wedding?? Anyone finding it really stressful?? | I cant believe August 18th is almost here!! Pretty much everything that can be done is done, but we have our social coming up in 2 months(May 26th)!! Lots of work for that, prizes, getting the alcohol and permits and everything!! My dress is going to be made for the social, I cant wait to see it finished!! My wedding dress comes in right after the social in June, I hope it fits well, and not too many alterations!!

August 10th Bride here. And, I did win the arguement...there will definitely not be Green Back written on the invitations....thank goodness. The invitations are ordered and should be here any day now. I can't wait to see them.
My girls finally ordered their bridesmaid dresses. They are very beautiful, but then I am biased.
I have set a goal of losing 5 pounds a month and I am freaking out. It doesn't sound like much, but I am having trouble staying consistent because I travel a lot for work. Any suggestions on how I can maintain my excerise while traveling?

Well just a few weeks ago i too was feeling super stressed but all is going really well now! Our wedding is August 18th and I just recieved my invitations and the are gorgeous! Our only recent problem was that last weekend when we went to meet our wouldbe limo driver, he stood us up! We thought maybe something came up, but I guess he just ditched us!! We left a message for him and he never called us back. Just a note for any other Winnipeg brides, avoid CELEBRITY LIMOS, they are bad news!!!!!!

I too am hoping for mostly financial presents. We will not put that on the invite, but I am having a few friends and close relatives spread it around discreetly. We are having the wedding in Canada, but we live in Japan so gifts will be a major inconvenience, and we already have been living together as well.
Don't put it on the invites, it's too tacky and looks very ungracious. Just let it go to a few people and hope it spreads.
I just got my bridesmaid dresses ordered as well, so it's slowly comming together. Working on invites now.

August bride here........... August 25th to be exact. I went to a bridal show in DC & it is so freaky how many other brides are out there....even saw quite a number of Aug. 25th brides...WOW!!

Hey Ladies,
Glad to see that more brides are joining us.
I am having an argument with my fiance about the invitations and I am determined to win this one. He wants to put Green Back on the invitations and I do not.
His reasoning is that we are traveling out of town for our wedding and having to contend with gifts and getting them home will be too much and also, we have lived together for the last five years and we do not need another toaster or blanket.
My reasoning for not having this on the invitations is that I feel like I am begging for money and that it is not the message I want to send. Most people know when you are traveling not to give gifts, anyway. And, no matter what people will give you gifts, anyway.
Anyone else having this problem?
Finally, the bridesmaid dresses are picked out.
I believe the closer to the wedding the more pressure we are all going to feel. Now, my soon to be sister-in-law wants to know why her children cannot be the flower girl and ring bearer. I just didn't want to go that route. kids don't know why they are there and most of the time they get bored waiting for the ceremony to get over and want to sit down.
What are the rest of you doing around this?
That is all I will bring forth for now. I have no doubt there will be other challenges as we go.
On top of all that....I am sooooo excited!!!

There is a Spark Team for August 2007 brides. There are only a few of us on there now, so the rest of you should come on over!
Vicki- We decided that keeping things simple and doing what interests us now is better than to spend a lot of money going the traditional HM route. And now we have an excuse to go do everything that we normally say is too expensive. I'm glad that there is someone else that has the same mentality.

Our original date was Aug. 4, but we couldn't get the reception hall we wanted for that date, so we changed for the following weekend.
You seem to have the same interets as my fiancé and I do. We are going to Newfoundland's Gros Morn national park for our honeymoon. We love camping and sightseeing. We thought on going on down south, but opted for what we like best.
I live in New Brunswick, Canada which is right beside your New England!!

-Done: Church, Reception hall, catering, photographers, minister, ceremony music, DJ, cake, my dress, guys tuxedos, shoes, veil, undergarments, picked out BM's dress (will order in February), save the dates, picked out and bought invitation, honeymoon, flowers/centerpieces
-To Do: Order BM dresses, get the guys measured, print our invites, get dress altered, finalize venue details (during our 3 month meeting), seating chart, table names, favors, card box
I'm sure that there is more on both of those lists, but that's all I can think of this early in the morning.

I sure can relate to the problems that come with trying to satisfy bridesmaids and their dresses. I do not care if they have different dresses, as long as the shade of color is the same. I will be having three girls and they are of different sizes, too. They felt comfortable about that. My only condition was that the dresses be tasteful and I have to approve them first.
My fiance and I are paying for our wedding ourselves and that stops others from interferring in our plans. Although, we are getting whispers, if you will, of what others feel would be nice. Setting boundaries at the beginning of our plans with family and friends saved a lot of arguing for us.
No matter how well you plan, though, it still seems like a problem pops up somewhere. I suspect when the new year comes, we will all be feeling a little panicked on just how close the wedding date comes.

I have been sick here lately and just got out of the hospital from surgery on teusday so I just got a chance to check my mail. Its great to see so many august brides who are dealing with the same things I am. Last week I told my fiance I was ready to just run away and elope because of all the stress of wedding plans and the fighting everyone is doing over how the wedding should be done and who should or should not be there. So far I have my dress and thats about it. We found some invites that we both like and are cheap but classy at the same time so we will be ordering those in Feb. I think we are going to have the ceremony in our yard and we really like the idea of just having a country bbq for the reception. They guys are just gonna wear black jeans white dress shirts and black cowboy hats. I have talked to two of my bridesmaids about dresses and they are worried because my other bridesmaid is lossing weight and looks great but they are heavy and do not want to loose the weight but are worried they will look like Beached whales as they say and now are not wanting to be in the wedding or wear a dress. I asked them if they wanted to join me in loosing weight and they both say yes but do not want to stop eating all the junk food. I feel like I am going crazy sometimes trying to plan this wedding and get healthy at the same time. But on a good note since we are doing all the cooking for thr reception I have found some great recipes from spark that we are gonna use on our menu that taste wonderful! How is everyone getting through the planning stage without becoming a monster and does anyone have any ideas on saving money when it comes to wedding planning? I have my dress picked out but not ordered yet. I have to find shoes first so the height will be just right. Tuxes are picked, and I think I have narrowed in on the Bridesmaid dresses. Location is set, and with it came the caterer. My cousin is a photographer, so she will be taking pictures. Beyond that we still need to find a florist, baker, and musician(s) (we haven't decided if we want a band or dj for the reception), we will have live music (piano or strings) for the ceremony.
It is tough to get much done this time of year....

I already have my dress, and we are in the process of buying our rings. I have the hall booked, the Minister is booked, a decorating service and florists are all booked. I have several problems, though. A family member agreed to MC and do all the music, but they are sick now and may not be able to do it. I only care that they get better. But, I will have to find replacements. Also, the bridesmaid dresses....can't find any I like. And, the tuxedo's still need to be ordered.
I haven't ordered the invitations, yet or party favor's....now that I think about it, I am a bit behind...hahaha.

I have not weighed myself in awhile but I had a tooth pulled yesterday. So my diet has been low. Not getting enough calories so I made a big supper of mashed potatoes, corn, salisbury steak, biscuit. It was delicious. The only other thing I eat was chocolate pudding hope to be able to get my calories in today.
I hope things work out between you and your friend. hopefully you can both put whatever it is behind you and move on life is to short to be mad at each other.
I have made a stop on plans for the wedding until after the first of the year. My hours finaaly went down at work I am only working a couple days a week until after the first of the year. It will be nice to sit and enjoy the holidays with out the stress of work.

when it rains, it pours as they say,  Now my other best friend, my second maid of honour (I couldn't choose between my 2 best friends) is not talking to me over a misunderstanding and does not want to come to the wedding. It is ridiculous. I will just have to go on without her.
I am lucky to have my other good friend, who I know I can count on, even though she is pregnant. I don't want her to do any work though, as I am more concerned about her taking care of herself and having a safe and healthy pregnancy.
I feel like eloping on a beach in Hawaii.
ANyway, Zeigler, it is good hearing from you. I hope your plans are proceeding smoothly. I am sorry to be a complainer. I'm alright though. I have a generally sunny disposition and can't stay sad for long about anything. It will probably turn out for the best in the end anyway.

That is tough working so late. I am in the same boat. Speaking of the boat, you know how I said that we were planning to marry on a boat, well that plan is being scrapped now, and we are in a rush to find a new location. I have only 9 months, and I thought all that was settled, but here we go again!!!
Fortunately my Matron of Honour (who just told me yesterday that she is 2 mths pregnant!!!) promises to help find a hall. The baby will be 2mths at the time of the wedding! I hope she will be alright with this. She is still gungho about being my MOH though, so that is great.
 I can't believe that my friend is going to be a mom! It's cool, but scary!

| About the tuxes My fiance works alot and has no idea about tuxes. He usually gets off work at 7:30 every day he usually has Sundays off. But alot of places are not open on Sunday. But That is a good ideal about pictures. He has seen the dress but not on me only in the picture on my spark page.

I just had 2 really bad eating days of Junk after my bad news about the scale. What a stupid thing to do. I promise to get back on the wagon tomorrow though, and to go easy tonight.
I had a real panic yesterday when I misplaced my engagement ring!!! Terrible! BUt I found it finally after tearing the apartment to pieces.
Zeigler, Why are you in charge of the tuxes??? I ordered a bunch of catalogues, circles the pictures I liked, and sent him with his folks and a camera to try them on. Afterwards I asked him which styles he liked best, and between us we chose the tux that suited him and the colours I want. He doesn't know that i will have some black detailing on my gown, so I had to push hard to get him in either black or pewter, but finally he agreed. He wanted to wear a gold vest and tie, but my dress has silver and black, so I couldn't let him, but I didn't want to tell him anything.
Do get him to do these things. He can take his parents or best man with him and they can try on tuxes and snap photos in stupid poses and then go out for beers. Even if the pictures are dumb, you can still get an idea of the suits.

I am where you were a few days ago. My scale just went up after I kicked my butt around the pool and swam 100laps yesterday!!! I think it always goes up after exercising hard, and then 2 days later drops again. I hope I'm right.
Anyway, as for planning, I have been trying to make the oragami cranes for the place settings (just trials) but I can't seem to get it. I must be stupid or something. I can't get from step 4 to 5 for some reason. I can't understand what they want me to do??? 
Anyway, I hope everyone else's projects are going better than mine at the moment.

I weigh in every day. I made a chart, and I have noticed a strange trend. I often go down a little smoothly, and then really dip low, and then spike up again, but still lower than the smooth downward curve. It is a repeated pattern, so I always expect it and don't let a gain bother me. I know it will settle back down. Also, after you have gotten to a lower number and gone up, it is always easier to get back down to it on the second try. It will come, don't worry. I used to really stress about it, but now I am using a too tight pair of pants as my guide line, and it really makes me feel better. I do of course feel happy to see the scale dip.

| thanks for the support I need it today I weighed myself and I gained 3 pounds this week hope it's muscle I have been staying in my ranges and doing strength training every day and cardio everyother day. well we will see how next week goes. thanks again.

Don't stress it, I haven't put any pics of myself up either. I do love the dress, and you will look fabulous in it. Give yourself a nice treat like a hot bath and a new romance novel. Don't be so hard on yourself. You will be a knockout on your day. Just take it one day at a time.

Hey I would love to lose another 20-30 pounds before the wedding. My goal is to drop at least two dress sizes before then. I think I can do it to day is one of those days I am feel awful about my self I am looking at myself and feeling bigger then what I am.

Oh, I just checked out your Sparkpage!
I love the dress! Is that the one? Is that you, or a magazine pic? I love the red details. Mine will have back details and trim. I was a bit nervous about it, but now I love the idea. I am using red and turquoise as my wedding colours.
I work 2 jobs too! I am a teacher and I have been working 6 days a week these past 2 years, and it is showing! Starting in April, I am cutting back to 4 days a week, and I can't wait!
It was nice to read more about you.

Wow! You are really organized! You won't have to do much over the year except worry about your health and fitness. That's great! I have a lot to do yet, and it seems there are a lot of small details to work out.
A wedding in the park sounds lovely. Since we are both having outdoor weddings, I sure hope the weather will be nice.
How much weight do you want to lose? As you can see, I'd like to drop 20lbs, and I hope it can be done. I think I have enough time to do it the healthy way.
I would also like to have had immediate family only, but the rest of them would have had my head on a plate. 
Well, let's keep in touch here. I am so glad to find someone with the same day!

| Yeah I have found somebody to share my stress. I am gettting married at a park in our town of Upper Sandusky Oh. It will be a small wedding for imediate family only. I have my dress, photographer, dj, reception hall, caterer, cake, brides maid dress, invitations, and honeymoon done! thnak godness.

I am also getting married on August 25, 2007!!! 
I have to get my extra lbs off that I put on over the last year. My plan is 2lbs a month. That should be a reasonably doable goal. how about you?
Where are you getting married? How many? Where are you at with your planning?
As for me: we will get married and hold the reception for about 140 people on a boat cruise around the Toronto Harbour. I've got my dress, and I ordered it a size too small.
