Thank you for the congrats. It is a wonderful feeling. One that I dreamed of all my life! And even more so since I met him. We're actually planning on getting married in the same spot he proposed to me-at a gazebo at a bed and breakfast in New York. I've already sent the owners an email, and they said they could help with the planning. It shouldn't be too hard-it's going to be a very small, private affair with just our families. But I still get the dress!!! The reason I was thinking 4 months for the dress was because I want to lose this last bit of weight before I even start to look. I am determined to have a size 6 dress!!! I don't know...it's only been a week. I'm going to enjoy just being engaged, though! I've waited for this for a long, long time! Thanks again! Kara

Hi Kara-- first off congratulations! that is so wonderful! isn't it the best feeling to be engaged? you know how people say women glow when they are pregnant? well, i feel the same is true about being engaged! as for getting all of your ducks in a row for wedding planning, the major things to do first are to determine a date and a guest list (even if it's crude) and then decide what ceremony and reception sites--then book them! because you are getting married in the summer, everything fills up fast, so try to get a jump on that. as for the dress, i would recommend you go ahead and shop around. for certain dresses, they need a minimum of six months, because they come from overseas, plus then there is additional time for alterations. four months is definitely possible if you plan to buy off the rack, but if not, i would say try for more like six just to be safe.
above all, try not to feel overwhelmed, rather enjoy the planning! you only get to do it once, and after all, you are celebrating a joyful moment.

Hello everyone! I just got engaged last friday, and we've decided to do a july 07 wedding. Can anyone give me any pointers as to where to start??? Also, I plan on losing my weight before I buy my dress. Is four months long enough to find a dress and have it altered? Forgive me, but I've never done this before, and I feel a little overwhelmed.
