| I have some other questions now...i was going to look at some stores this weekend, but I didn't make an appointment. Is it okay to just walk in and look? I was hoping to cover multiple stores because the weekend is the only time i have available, and I only have five months until the wedding. Also, what kind of underwear, like bras, should you wear to try on the dresses? I don't have any strapless ones right now and i was thinking maybe that's would be the best thing to wear. But I don't know, I need some advice! thanks.

| I took both my mom, and future mother-in-law to look for a dress. They were both with me when I found it. My dress only took 6 weeks to come in! It just arrived last week! I don't think I'll do my first fitting until January though.

| I LOVE the lace up dresses! I wish mine was! It's like, "Come on, lace that sucker up...I may not be able to sit down or breathe well, but hey I have a waist" LOL

| My FI took pictures of me trying on dresses! We only went to the store so that I could show him a color of bridesmaids dress I liked and I ended up trying on dresses. Then I ordered it over the phone two days later. It was a size too big though, so he didn't she the real thing in it's full glory (and my hair looked like crap! Hee hee) I haven't seen the dress since it came in though, it was sent to his parents house since we were moving to Korea before it would even come in. I'm going back to the states in November though and really want to be able to try on my dress and have it fit perfectly. It laces up the back, so I have to be at 140 for it to fit, but if I lose a little extra that's ok too.

I just got married this September 9th. My husband went with me to pick out the dress. We already have a 6 month old and we eloped to Vegas so it wasnt a big deal. All the superstitions dont seem to work anyways this day in age. My dress was the first one I put on and it was absolutely perfect. I looked online for months before we decided to just do it and I couldnt make up my mind. The minute I walked into Davids Bridal I found the perfect dress.
Definitely start shopping now. If you want your fiance to be their with you let him. My bubby and my daughter were with me and seeing him be quiet for the first time in his life and my daughters priceless smile told me that the dress was definitely THE ONE!!!

| I guess so...I know It's supposed to be a suprise but maybe he can just take the baby for a walk or somethin while im tryin on. ;)

| Yes, I'm not usually superstitious but your fiance can watch him at home right? You might not want him to see the chosen dress.

| If you schedual things correctly you can go alone or ask a bridal party member to go with you. I went alone three times with my then 6 month old. The ladies in the shop were good at keeping her busy when I couldn't!

| Yikes!! Now I"m worried I won't be able to find one in time!! I better do it this weekend. Its hard to shop with a two month baby though so i guess my fiance will have to go with me and watch him.

| My wedding isn't until July 2007, but my dress was just ordered this month. If you are ordering it, they say 4-6 months before it comes in. Then you have to figure in time to alter it. Mine was ordered in a size 16...they said their seamstresses have been able to alter down up to three sizes! When I weighed 135 I was only an 11, so I don't think it'll be a problem (since an 11 is really more like a 13 in wedding dress size). I really only expect to hit around 145 by then....

| I bought my dress in May, it came in around three or four weeks later though the store told me it would take 8-12 weeks. So yes, you need to shop early, especially if you are going to need it altered.

I bought my dress this past January and it just got here 2 weeks ago! It took 10 months-I couldn't believe it! I did get it from a private bridal shop though and that's probably why! Most of my friends say their dress took 3-6 months to come in depending where you get it from! You can always buy off the rack also-it just depends on what you want!
They also say you can take dresses in 2 sizes so you should be okay!

| i would definitely suggest you get to shopping. march is just around the corner. even with off the rack gowns you will be fitted again for it 6 weeks to a month before your wedding so that final alterations can be made. for my march wedding i ordered my gown in august - but i also am having it made so that was just barely enough time. i'm sure you will find something you love. have fun with it. and, wedding gowns are so flattering, you'd be surprised.

| Thanks guys...I guess I better start looking then!!

|
| I bought my dress a week ago and they said that they can take a dress down two sizes if need be. also you could find the dress that fite you and buy it one size smalled as motivation to reach your gaol. so my advice would be to start looking because that is a very impoteant item in the wedding and you dant want to settle for just anything you want to find the dress that is perfect for you. have fun and good luck with your serch.

| I've heard 6 months as well. Maybe you should start shopping 6 months out so you have a better idea of what you want. And maybe you'll even find the dress you want now and you could get details about how long it will take to get it in so you can order in plenty of time.

| I've never been married before and haven't even been to any weddings so I'm kinda clueless when it comes to planning this stuff...But I was wondering how long should you wait before your wedding to buy the dress? I still am hoping to lose 15 pounds or so before i get married this march, and I read in this book you should buy the dress at least 6 months before. Is that really necessary? I'd like to be closer to my ideal size before i buy a dress. Anyone have any thoughts about this?? Thanks.
