| I've actually heard of bride/groom presents as something you do before the wedding, during the honeymoon or within the first year. Pretty open as far as timing. My parents got a great oil painting of Venice that they still have as the center of their living room. I bought a friend a beautiful sculpture vase that is simply a piece of art, they drilled a hole in a block of glass and used a tiny tiny hooked paintbrush to paint an intricate scene of cranes. So pretty!

I heard it was bad luck to get pearls from the groom on your wedding day. (Not that I put *any* faith whatsoever in superstitions.)

| we are not planning on speeches but i am planning on giving him cufflinks on our wedding day. i have told him that some grooms give their brides pearls or something to wear on their wedding day but dunno if he's going to.

| We are not planning on giving a speech as far as i know but he might just surprise me. He suggested writing our own vows but i would rather we did not.

| We're not planning on giving a speech to each other, as far as I know. (Who knows, he could surprise me.) But I've been writing him little love notes for the past several months that I'm going to bind together right before the wedding and leave on his pillow. (He'll leave our hotel room before I do the morning of the wedding.)

I don't think we'll be buying each other gifts either. We've also been living together for a while and are paying for most of the wedding by ourselves, so anywhere we can save is good.
I don't think we'll be apart too much on the wedding day (once again, we live together and don't really have anywhere else to stay individually during the night before the wedding or the morning of) but maybe I'll send him a funny card or something while he's getting ready since that's more our style.

| We are in the same boat, our wedding is Dec. 31 so the wedding is our gift for each other and christmas as well.

Is anyone buying their new wife or hubby a gift to give to them on the night in their speech?
I'm not sure if this is a traditional or just differs from cuple to couple. I would like to but hafve no idea what to get him - he has everything. I was thinking maybe a new watch and have it engraved, but the wedding is already so expensive...
