Congrats to all you brides! I'm getting married July 14, 2007. I'm soo excited! I'm sorry to all of you who have lost someone, just remember that your loved ones will be watching down on you at your wedding. I've always thought that if you left a seat open with a rose on it, they will be there at your wedding even if you can't see them.

| That's what this is all about, inspiring each other and helping each other get through the stress and the weight loss. I found that my time in the gym gives me an excuse to be alone without the stress of work or planning, or family opinions. Working out is a great stress buster for me, and I never ever would have predicted that. With all the plans I keep hearing about, we could all use a little stress reduction in our live, right ladies!?!!

| I FEEL YOU.IM GETTING married IN MARCH 07 AND I WANT TO LOOSE 40 TO 50LBS BEFORE THE wedding IVE BEEN WORKING OUT ALMOST EVERYDAY FOR ABOUT A WEEK NOW.IT SUCKS WITH EVERYTHING ELSE I HAVE TO WORRIE ABOUT.BUT EVERYONE KEEPS TELLING ME TO JUST KEEP AT IT. MAYBE WE CAN INSPIRE EACHOTHER....

you are going to be able to do it. You just need to start making changes now. So maybe eat the carrots instead of the chips...start walking/running/working out now and you will notice a difference in no time.
You will be able to do it and you will look wonderful.
|
|
|
|
| Thank you for your encouragement. I know it really is quite a way off but at the same time it seems so close. I am committed to really trying but weekends are a real struggle at the moment. Trying to find nice things without being naughty lol!

Well, if nothing else, the panic will burn calories...
No, but really, there's no need to panic. It won't do a whole lot of good. Plus, you have, what, 8 months? That's enough time to commit yourself to some wonderful changes!

| Having a huge panic!!!! I am getting married in June of 2007 and have always put off losing weight - too many temptations and being extremely happy and content does not help sometimes. I brought my dress (a bit too early) tried it on and it looks terrible and too tight. I have now committed myself to getting into it and looking wonderful on my big day. I am very worried that it might not work out however hard I try. Determination is needed in this situation. I am trying very hard but as many of you know it is a scary time as well!! Hope you all have wonderful days. :)

| My fiance and I were looking for a spring date in Maryland. And we chose april because we wanted to avoid Mother's Day and Easter. Then our work day helped filtr the date as far as taking off for a honeymoon. April Fools, or tax Day wasn't an option. And then I also planned to avoid being on my cycle during that week. And we came up with April 29th!

Oh, and another thing...
We will be having a non-traditional wedding as well. He's vegetarian, both of us eat organic. We'll probably have an outdoor ceremony. We're not attached to a religion, so we'll have to figure something out there. I love nice clothes and shoes, but am not hung up on a big poufy white dress. Unless one just pops out at me.
It's all just in the works.
To address the food, we may just make it ourselves, but who knows?

I've been engaged for 2 1/2 months, and we're getting married sometime next spring or summer.
I'm sure I'll be in shape by then, it'll be more a matter of staying in shape. :-)
I see that lots of you have set dates already, and I'm wondering this: Are they arbitrary dates, or do they have meaning, and why did you pick it?

| New to this site and these boards. Thought I would post anyways. My wedding is September 8th, 2007 and we have a Cinderella Theme. Our colors are Orange and Pink. A little weird for Cinderella I know but we are using the Pumpkin for the orange color and Pink because of her dress and I just LOVE pink!! LoL.

Unfortunately I don't think I will be able to have my father walk me down the aisle. I'm not a bride yet (although we have been looking at rings) and I don't think my dad will be able to live long enough to do it. His diabetes is really bad right now and he's in the hospital and going blind. I have a brother, which will probably fill in for Dad.

I lost my dad 10 years ago and it still floors me when I think about it too much. I decided though, that for my wedding (Dec 29, 2006) my mom is going to walk me down the isle. She's the only parent I have left and instead of putting an uncle in my father's place, may as well be my mother, who's really been there with me all this time. I wish all of you good luck and terrific weddings!

Hey Everyone,
My name is Rosa and I'm getting married July 28th, 2007. So excited about that... I'm Canadian and my fiance is American.. so it's hard at times since he lives about 6 hours away from me... we don't get to see each other all that much... I have about 40 pounds to loose.. but I am taking it slow.. that's why I started now.. so by July 1st I should be at that goal... I was always a heavy girl.. use to be over 260 pounds but for some reason after loosing about 120 pounds.. I can't seem to get the last weight off.. My finace loves me just the way I am.. but this is something I really want to do.. Mind you I'm kind of surprised I'm sticking to the diet... it's I'm still finding time to eat right and PACK A LUNCH!! For me that's a BIG THING!!
Hope all is going well. would love to hear from you guys..
Ciao for now

| for get to do my own catering im planning to use as location a non traditional place, i have 3 in mind, the first is an historical house used as museum and sometimes rented for small events like poetry reading and so on, is beautiful, but i could need cut my guest list and is already small, the other is rent for some hours after is closed a cute small restaurant with the condition they could let me bring my own liquor and food, the third one and more complicated is in the beach, but and outdoor wedding could force me to rent way too many things, as chairs, tables, tent, and so on, and could end up being more expensive, well there is still plenty of time
|
|
|
|
i really want to do this but a lot of places don't allow outside caterers.. it would save a lot of money, but depending on where the reception is they usually have their own catering service that they make you use which really sucks for us, because both my fiance and i are strict vegetarians.. and most of my family is also.. i really don't know what i'm going to do.
|
|
|
|
| i dont have a relationship with my biological father, so i plan to have my grandpa and my dad of raise walk me to the aisle, what i cant figure it out is how to hold the bouquet :P anyway is there anyone planning to do the catering of their own reception, i plan something small, a cocktail for adults only, about 60 to 70 persons if the family of my sweety make it, as we are both students in very limited budget i figured out since we both are good cooks could be the easier way of save significant amounts of money
|
|
|
|
I am really sorry to anyone who has lost someone close to them. I can't imagine what it would be like to lose my dad. I am such a daddy's girl.. it would kill me. If I had to have anyone other than my dad walk me down the aisle, it would be my brother.. I would almost even be tempted to have my fiance's dad walk me down the aisle.. I hope you all have beautiful weddings

| hi, hi everyone, congrats ^^ i was a 2007 bride, but then my fiance realized that i only finish my studies in march of 2008 and him said once we get married dont want to be apart again, well c'est la vie, i dream with my wedding, even if will be in a very tight budget because we expend all of our money in visit each other (him is french i am chilean), but if there is something that shouldnt be expensive and could brighten my wedding day, thatis me feeling sexy on a red wedding dress, i hope all of us can find the so needed motivation on our wedding, cheers

CNESHEIM - You are so right... even the things that used to drive me crazy about him I miss. His stale cigarette cuddles and his prickly moustache when he would kiss me on my cheek... I just miss my Dad so much but sometimes feel silly about talking to friends about it as it has been so long, but I remember every detail about the night he passed away, his funeral and when I got the phone call that he was in hospital like it was yesterday and it still hurts like mad but you learn to deal with it, although I'm not sure that I'll ever accept it. After 2.5 years I still have his mobile phone number in my phone. I just can't bring myself to delete it. All that aside Brides, I hope that on your Day you all hold your heads high and know that you have an angel sitting on your shoulder... Thank-you... It's nice to talk about this with people who understand.

My father passed away 3 years ago. It sucks when you think about it. That song makes me cry every time I hear it. I was a true daddy's girl (the only girl and the youngest of four). My oldest brother is going to walk me down the aisle and I think I am going to have red roses brought to the altar during the gift procession so that he can be remembered. I am going to have my oldest nephew and grandpa's favorite bring them to the altar.
The hardest thing about losing a parent is that it is hard to get back to normal and even after 3 years, after all your friends have kind of forgotten, it still hangs there with you.
|
|
|
|
My brother is going to walk me down the aisle. I'm thinking of having a candle for my dad and a rose up front as well asa candle and a flower for my fiance's dad who has also passed away. Then I was going to have a rose on a chair nest to my mom and his mom. I'm not sure though. But I know that I want to do something.

Hello Brides To Be:
I'm planning to attend my nephew's wedding in Houston on December 29. At this time that's all I know about it.
Do any of you have advice for what to wear to the rehearsal dinner and ceremony/dinner reception? Or do I need some more information before I can make my shopping plans? I'm not a good shopper and I'm a worse traveler, but I want to do this.
Thanks in advance for your help. I know I'm not the star at this shindig, but I want to do the family proud in my own way.

I'm so sorry for those that have lost someone.
In the past five years I have lost my two grandmothers, an uncle, and my fiance has lost his grandmother ( whom he was very very close with). This is going to be a hard day for us all because we would have loved to see them there and they would have been so happy. But We have to remember that they will be joining us on our joyous day, not physically but spirtually.
We will have a candle lit for each memeber that we have lost. and their picture at a table right before my guests enter the church. Also, a table for them at my reception.. I know that either way you choose to memorialize your loved ones. It will be great.

cheryl, i think your idea to memorialize your fathers at your wedding is gorgeous. wherever you decide to put it will be lovely.
we're getting married march 4, 2007 in huatulco, mexico. we've got a great (and cheap) wedding coordinator down there that is helping us with everything. it's quite nice but i also feel like i should be doing something right now that i'm not doing. we're starting to think about booking our honeymoon and invitations right now. since it's a destination wedding we'll have to send out our invites 3 months prior which means i'll need to order by november. plenty of time to decide, i know. we've got our engagement photos coming up next friday. things are moving along nicely.

My father passed this spring, and my fiances father passed in Nov. 2002 - I also want to have a rememberance at the reception. I thought about having pictures of them and other family/friends that have passed at a table with a couple candles - but can't decide if it should be a seperate table or with the guestbook/gift/cake etc....

Hey Kelly1204. I'm sorry for your loss. My Dad also passed away 2.5 years ago and so did my Fiance's Grandad who he was very close with. We were thinking of lighting a candle for them at the reception and keeping it burning for the whole time. I don't want to do it at the ceremony as I think it will hit home harder there than at the reception... You can also ask someone to speak on behalf of him. Do you have an Uncle or brother who could do this?? I am asking both of my brothers to give me away too. Have you thought about that? Keep your head up - it's not easy but you kinda just learn to deal with it.

| Hi everyone! I've been on SparkPeople for awhile but only became a bride-to-be recently. Soooooooo excited!! Ever since I got engaged, I've been packing on the weight and undoing all my hard work of the previous months. Time to get back on track! We're thinking Nov. 2007 for the wedding but maybe earlier. I don't want this day in my life to be like so many other days that I look back on and regret because I didn't get it together and lose the weight. I want to like looking at my wedding pictures! Look forward to talking with all of you in the future. Congrats!!

No date? Me neither, of course I'm not planning anything big so the date becomes less important. Actually was told that my boyfriend looked at rings and thinks he found one. Sometimes I think we are doing things wrong because we talk through everything so much. BUt I like knowing what is happening. I know that when theproposal comes that it will be a surprise adn I know the ring will be a surprise but he likes to keep me in the loop. I think he is trying to tell me to relax, it is going to happen. We shall see. I'm thinking he is going to propose sometime in early December, we will probably get married in April. SO weird to know so much and yet not know anything.

| YO2DIETER, don't stress about not having a date set. We were engaged for about 3 months before we set a date. There's a lot that goes into it and you want to make sure you got a good one. It will all come in time.

I already purchased my dress so my weight can't change too much, I just want to feel good in my own skin...

Hey Ladies! I'm getting married October 20, 2007 and I cannot WAIT. I'm trying to loose a good 40 pounds before then. I have over a year to make it happen, so no excuses!
Our colors (as of now) are yellow, orange, chocolate brown and turquoise. But I am thinking of making the yellow/orange one solid coppery color instead. We'll see.
First dance will be a song called 'tank' that's an instrumental swing tune - which means we need to start dancing lessons asap!
For dad I was thinking 'candle in the window' by creedence clearwater revival. It makes me think of him.
I found a dress (for only $400!) that is exactly what I'm looking for, I'm just waiting for the local boutique to get it in my size. It's a halter with a plunging vneck (but not TOO low), so getting the upper body in shape is a must!
Good luck to everyone!

| We have a few songs picked out. John Farnham Touch of Paradise, Heaven by DJ Sammy - the acoustic version and some others that I have written down at home... these are ones that really stick out in the mind. Our colours are, for the bridesmaids, a watermelon colour, like a tomato red with a shot of hot pink through it and silver accessories and shoes. My dress is very white and I like the idea of white shoes. We really only have to get the bridesmaids dresses made, make invitations, organise honeymoon, guys attire and not much more. We are pretty organised. wedding date is 14 April 2007.

Hi Ladies!! I am a 2007 bride too!! My date is August 18, 2007. I see everyone was discussing wedding songs already! eeeks! I'm not even there yet! So far we have: -booked & paid deposit for ceremony & reception -sent out Save-The-date cards -Booked our photographer and....thats about it. Our colors WERE going to be Navy & Silver * White....but I am finding Navy is a bit too dark for my liking when placed against black...it looks black itself from a distance. So...I am rethinking our colors. We got our save the cards from www.vistaprint.ca Anyone want to post thier designer & style number of their dresses? I am considering maggie Sottero's Brittanya Lynette. But i am not going to order an actual dress until December!

You are all doing wonderful! Great job!!! I am actually a mom of a bride to be. Crystal & her sweetie will be married 7-7-07 @ 7pm. She and I are exercising together several times per week to be in great shape for the wedding. She is a wonderful daughter and I want her to be proud of me on her special day. Blessings to each of you in your upcoming marriages.

PSS - You get the images on www.myvirtualmodel.com. You can play around with different options.
It is fun hearing you all talk about your bridesmaids. Mine have been super supportive and great. Because we have a huge wedding party (14 - 5 bridesmaids, 5 groomsmen, 2 junior bridesmaids and 2 ring bearers) I am basically letting them pick their own tops from a big selection as long as they wear the same skirt and color. As a result everybody is gettting something they (basically) like. Is anybody else doing the mix and match?

My recent motivation: wedding pictures!!! I was grumbling about not working out the other day and my friend reminded me that for the rest of your life, and your kids life and probably their kids life.
Good enough to get me out jogging.

Well I am not offically engaged, my boyfriend and I just decided that we were going to get married next spring. I can't really tell people yet beccause it is really just a discussion right now and not 100% but I am so happy. We've talked about this for almost a year and to hear him say that he wants to marry me, he just needs a ring is great. We won't do anything big, just a small family event. So I have all the more reason to get to my goal!

| Those are wonderful colors! What prompted the theme? We are getting married on the beach in Florida and are only having a small reception, but I love the theme---its fantastic!
