I'm doing a carribean themed wedding and reception. Our colors are azalea, pool, and green tea green. They just really pop off of each other.
My dress actually has a bright pink azalea sash that runs the full length of my train. The sash matches my brides made dresses.

| I am glad to see that bridesmaids out there are supportive, my bridesmaids will need to help me stay sane around the soon to be mother-in-law, who is great but a little too excited about the upcoming wedding.

| I too am a bridesmaid and am really honored and excited about all this. I really am trying to be supportive, but also keeping myself from freaking out for my friend. Working out is really helping me through this whole process. She is the BEST person and I am SO happy for her.

Hey girls! I'm not a bride-to-be, but I'm a bridesmaid for my girlfriend who's getting married. The thing is, she's German so I have to go to Germany next summer and stand for her. I'm really happy about it, but I'm trying to slim down so I can be pretty in a dress. Congrats to all the brides as well! I hope your wedding is everything you want it to be!

| Colors: We're doing a troppical/ocean theme, so lots of vibrant colors! The main two are deep pinky-rose & orange! It sounds strange, but they're great for our tropical theme! It makes everything a lot more fun instead of all stuffy! :)

| my dress is like ivory, with gold embroidery on the boddess.. it's like really princess-y.. i want to have brown bridesmaid dresses with like purple and green accents (maybe bows around the waist. i'm liking the plain grassy flowers instead of huge cliche flowers right now. i think we will have mint and just green things instead a lot of flowers.

| I'm a bride to be for June 16, 2007.. Both my FH and I have signed up on spark people. Me to lose 30 lbs, and for him to lose 67 lbs... I don't know if we will get all of that lost, however, we will definitely give it all we have.... I love how easy this site is, and I hope to lose weight with all ye other brides to be.

| I went bridesmaid dress shopping this weekend and think I found the dress. I am doing black tea length dresses and then for flowers I am either having each girl carry a different bright colored flower or all the same colors...but definately bright bright bright!!!

| I have been wanting to do brown and another accent color but was worried about brown being...well too brown you know. I have been considering more of a lighter mocha color but I bet I go back to the original brown. :) I always stick with my original ideas after much worrying!

Another 2007 bride-to-be here! Our wedding is September 23. I have yet to find anyone who also has this date, so perhaps we're unique! I don't really want to lose any weight before the wedding, but definitely want to gain muscles, firm up overall, and feel more healthy.

I too wanted to wear my mom's dress, but seeing as she was a size 2, that isn't going to happen. I am having the innerlayer from her dress sewn into mine, whenever I find it, and that way a part of her will be with me all day. I have also heard of using part of her dress to incorporate into your vail or a ring pillow. Don't be discouraged, there are plenty of ways to honor your mom!

Hi brides-to-be!
Our date is October 13th, 2007. We are having a traditional wedding in my church, and out reception will be in a beautiful, wooden, rustic-looking mill called the Stone Barn. Anyone out of Pennsylvania in the Chester County area?
Anyways, our colors are navy blue for the dresses, orange, white and blue for the flowers and a silver accent among the flowers because the guys vests will be silver. Thats all I have planned so far.

Hi all,
We haven't decided on a first dance song but we have narrowed it down to...The Way You Look Tonight, Our Love Is Here To Stay and something else I can't remember right now. We are also going to work in the Lizzie West song "Chariots Rise" somewhere! My father daughter first dance song is "Teach Your Children" by Crosby, Stills and Nash.
Our colors are baby pink, some really light blue color they call Lettuce and a really pale brown called Cafe.
How does eveybody feel about the garter toss?? Yea or nea?

| Hi ladies, I still have a lot of posts to read but I wanted to join in now. I am getting married 21/7/07. I was supposed to wear my mother's wedding dress but the chances are slim that I will be able to lose enough weight to get into it...I have to lose about 70lbs and I think that is too thin for me. A healthy weight for me is 50lbs less than I weigh right now...so I guess I have to go looking for another dress.

| I LOVE brown and even though I am getting married in the spring brown is going to definately be one of my colours (blue is the other - to echo the brown of the sand and blue of the water where we are holding the wedding). Instead of dressing your girls in brown it could be used as accent colour for a sash/shawl or the ribbon around stalks of flowers etc.

| I am not a bride to be, but I was married in 2002 and I too wanted to lose weight about 20 pounds. I actually both my dress smaller than needed so I would make sure that I had to lose the weight for sure. I kept trying the dress on because I was scared it wouldn't fit the closer it got to the wedding date, and little did I know the week of the wedding I had to make alterations to make the dress smaller. lol You guys will reach your goal.

I got my dress off the rack too. I am 5'1" and will have to of course have it hemmed. I'm hoping that when I go to have the hem done that there is a little bit of taking in to do. I bought my dress in July and would like to try it on this week to see how it fits. I have lost near 10 lbs and I have been told that 10 lbs is about one dress size. I think I will do that tomorrow.

| I'm getting married in June 2007 at sea on an Alaskan Cruise. It seems like since we booked it, the time is just flying by! I got very lucky and was able to buy my dress right off the rack at the bridal store, and it fits perfectly. Now I just have to make sure I don't gain any weight between now and then! Of course, it wouldn't be a bad thing if I had to have the dress taken in a bit either!

Hello ladies. Congratulations to all of you! I am glad to find this thread - a bit more relevant than the 2008 brides one. I am getting married May 26/07 out on the very west coast of Vancouver Island (Tofino). In some respects planning a remote wedding is easier as the resort staff takes care of many of the details...not to mention there is just one florist and 2 photographers to choose from so that decision process will be very short! However, when my A type personality kicks in and I freak out about giving up the control I wish we were having it closer to home. I am sure that everything will come together and it will be lovely in the end.
It would be great if we could start a few small challenges to focus on each week. Anyone have an idea for this week?

| Congrats to all brides! I'm getting married on March 3rd 2007. I have been very blessed with the planning because I just have to make the major decisions, my future mother in law is planning it for us. It helps tremendously because I am stationed in Korea for a year while he is back in Ohio. Our wedding however will be in FL on the beach. I had to pick my wedding dress fast which was in 2 days! It's beautiful though. Our wedding song is going to be "Its Your Love" by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. His brother is going to sing it for us. We are having our honeymoon in Aruba for a week. Where is everyone else having theirs?

I had planned on getting married in June of '08, but I am trying to convince my fiance to push it back a year. He thinks we won't have enough time to plan, but I think a year is enough, haha. We have been together for almost 4 years, so it's about time! I have already bought my dress. It really freaked me out how small they run.. I bought a dress that is 6 sizes bigger than what I normally wear, and I'm hoping to take it in 6 sizes. We have been talking about songs since we got engaged.. we are thinking Baby, Let Me Follow You Down by Bob Dylan. Good luck everyone.

Our first dance song is actually becoming more and more popular, which makes me sad, lol. I'm just a brat, I want something original. We're using the Tim & Faith song "It's Your Love", for now. Until I decide to change it, haha.

June 16, 2007 ... I'm so happy!!!! Already got the chapel and banquet hall booked and even found a wedding dress already! Its a corset style so its perfect for the losing the weight.
I can't remember the artist, but the song we're picking's "I only have eyes for you" ? I think that's right...its an old one.

I'm a September 2007 bride. I wanted to start losing weight and getting healthy in general but the wedding is extra incentive. I don't want to go dress shopping until I lose more weight/inches. I finally lost the first 10 and have at least 36 more to go. Cutting back on my sodium has really helped. Good lock everyone!

And and with weight waters you don't want lots of points. I like collecting points. I like to be rewarded for what I do. So that spark points help alot.
Another added bonus I think Spark People has is the community. The community that never rests. It's nice when I start feeling weak I can come out here and get the motivation I need to stay on track.
I'm so excited about my upcoming wedding and looking my best. But I also feel that with SP I will continue to look my best even after the wedding.
Quick Question: Does anyone have good poems for the bride and grooms parens? I'm looking for some and haven't had much luck.

| yeah I really like what they have to offer vs WW. I like counting calories a lot better. You can still have a piece of chocolate if you want just have to count the calories for it. I think this way it will help me manage my portions better

| I quit WW a few months ago, but I really missed the online tools they had. I kept lying to myself about the actual points I was consuming. Spark seems to have many of the same tools and help me track my eating a lot better. Counting calories is way better than counting points! Spark is very motiviating. I am on trying to get my next spark point trophy. I am getting hitched 7/27/07. Go spark brides!!!

| barbacasec- i have been doing sp for a few months now, and i really feel like it is a lifestyle change... i can now stay within my calorie range without even entering food during the day... when i enter it at night, i am always within range... plus, exercise is now a full-time part of my life... once you see results, it's addictive! :)

I, too, am not a bride, but I am a bridesmaid for August 2007. Though, it's not my wedding, I still want to look great for my girlfriend's wedding. Particularly, because I believe the dress is either going to be sleeveless or possibly strapless, which means my arms have got to be toned. I still have about 42 pounds to lose, but I have already loss 11 pounds since June 2006. With my determination, I will get this weight off and it will stay off.
In addition, congrats to all of you that are brides-to-be. Be encouraged and don't let the stress of the wedding planning deter you from the thought of being married to the man of your dreams.

Kreative, thanks for the tip about Lane Bryant. I'm having trouble finding a red wedding dress that doesn't cost $2,000 or that isn't ugly!
I've discovered that even though I can't work out due to back pain (temporary, I hope), I was able to lose ten pounds by just eating 1200 calories a day and drinking tons of water! I'm so excited now!
It's funny how moms can forget we're human. When I first started putting on weight when I first got married in 1994, she said out loud in front of the lady helping me try stuff on "You really have put on the weight!" (I was 165 lbs!)I guess because I was a model and once weighed 110 she was surprised to see me at a normal weight! I'm 207 now. Sheesh!

My mom told me she could see my saddle bags when I tried my gown on for the first time. I felt 3,000 pounds, yet less than an inch tall all at the same time. My mom will NOT see my saddle bags at my wedding!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
