Hello everyone!!! I am gettin married on Sept 22, 2007 and I am also really beginning to stress. I'm worried about the weight loss rather than the wedding details. Hopefully I can meet my goal before than!!!

I'm getting married 9/8/07 and just joined. I'm hoping to lose some weight for the wedding, and hopefully this will help.

Hey all! I am getting married September 8th. I joined Spark People thanks to a co-worker. I would like to look as good in my dress as my fiance looks in his uniform!
I'm new to this, so bare with me!
Thanks!

hi Stephanie!

My arm fat is the bane of my existence. I have already bought my dress (a size 18) and it's strapless and now I'm going crazy about my arms.

Hello! I too am a September 8 bride. I have gained 30 lbs since I met my Fiance and it is very frustrating. My weight has always fluctuated, but I am currently the heaviest I have ever been. I am hoping to not have arm fat on my wedding day, and I am hoping that sparkpeople can help me!!
Thanks!!

Hey all :)

I'm new to this site too - really hoping to be motivated to lose some weight for my September 1, 2007 wedding!

I'm really tall (6'2")- so my weight spreads out, but I'm tired of looking at the scale...hoping to lose close to 20 pounds for the big day!

hey everyone!

I am new to this site as of today but I have heard great things about it. I am a September 1, 2007 bride to be and we are very excited.

Ordered my size 18 dress last weekend. I am hoping to have to alter that thing down by inches!

Due to some crazy circumstances, we're now a September wedding. I'm still getting used to the idea because I had my heart set on our original date (family vacations, ugh!)... I guess this just gives me more time to plan and save moolah! So our new date is September 8. I guess the date shouldn't matter as long as we end up married with our friends and families present. :)

whew! you inspire me pamelalynne! did you get your dress at davids bridal too??? i sure hope they stick to their word re. exchange if i need a size down...well i WILL need a size down. i figured i'd get my dress NOW in case they for some reason stopped making their 'wow' dress. probably is best to just go get another size than have it altered too much...could change the whole look of it if i have them play w/ it too much.
TOMEGHANDMAMA

i was nervous i wouldn't find the 'one' for me. when i finally found it, i really 'found' it by trying it on and being absolutely wowed by myself in it, despite my not being where i want to be yet physically...turns out, they actually call this dress at david's the 'wow' dress. its so beautiful. i got it in ivory...it has little pearls in the applique flowers which is constant throughout the entire dress and it is strapless a-line w/a chapel train. what bums me out is it is a size 16 which makes a bride feel even bigger than she'd like (i only wear a size 12 pants so having a wedding dress that is a 16 really makes me feel sad...why do they DO that to us???!!!)

i'm getting married september 8th...i really want it outside at our location but if weather is ick we can go into the chapel which is very beautiful too.

Butahfly, dont worry, I felt the same way. plus my mom was there and she wanted me to pick out another dress that SHE was in-love with! When I bought the dress, I was so nervous...it also made me think...oh my gosh, I have my DRESS!

SerenityBride, I do know how you feel. Actually, I had to go return my dress! I went from a size 18w to a size 14w!(yay!) so if i can do it, you can too!

Buttahfly, Don't worry! Plunking down on THE dress is a big threshhold to cross. For me it made the reality of the wedding much more apparent than even booking the reception venue did! It will all disolve away the day you actually pick it up from the boutique and you see yourself in it!

SerenityBride, I know how you feel. I'm trying to whittle away a few pounds before that first dress fitting too. But it sounds like your dress is phenomenal and I'm sure you'll look amazing on the big day!

Buttahfly,

I wasn't nervous about the dress at all... I saw it in a magazine, fell in love, and flew to a Louisiana boutique to buy it. The end... except it doesn't fit yet. It didn't then either, but THAT is what I am nervous about. I believe in Spark, but I need to build confidence in myself. I should be 175 by the end of July (losing 1.5 pounds per week), with the wedding in mid-September, I might be able to knock off another couple pounds... that should do the trick, but I am going to be biting my nails in the meantime.

I put half down on my dress yesterday and I am so nervous. I know it is the dress that I want. It is sooo pretty, and has caught my eye since i started looking at dresses.
Is it normal to have this much anxiety over the dress? Has anyone else been this nervous about getting their dress?

I would try to cut a deal with the people doing your buffet and see if you can get a reduced rate for the kiddos.
We are having kids at our reception because most of the people coming to mine have children and the only people they would know to babysit are also coming.
Not to mention I have a 3 year old daughter who will be there and the ring bearer is also 3 and will be there.
PAMELALYNNE

okay...here is the question I been wanting to know. How many of you are going to have children at your wedding reception? Jeremy wants us to have kids, while I say no. I say it should be a time for ADULTS to have some fun without their kids. Plus, I am paying a buffet (all by myself, without the help from my fh) and I have to pay extra for kids! But jeremy insist he wants his neices and nephews there! *He has over 10 nephews and neices!* what should I do

HI,
I am getting married on 09/22/07
We have a few things settled so far. It is going to be a little more difficult for us since we are getting married in our home town which is a little less than 6 hours away from where we are living now.
So far we have the dj, reception hall/food, church and photographer booked. Now we just need to find someone for the cake and we should be all set
We are also doing pink and black.

Im getting married 21st September, 2007. Got most of it sorted. Venues for ceremony and reception, dress, bridesmaid dresses, food, dj, photographer, cake, registrar. Just the fianancing of it all Im a little worried about, lol. Trying my best to save as much as possible each month. Fingers crossed. Making the invitations myself. White cards with pink mulberry paper and personally pressed cornflowers with matching ribbon down the fold. They look great, if I do say so myself, lol.

Big change in plans...no longer a beach wedding planned. Instead, we are going to have a small wedding at home with just our best friends attending (witnesses) and then we are going to have a beach themed reception and dance afterwards. Then we are going to the beach for the honeymoon...
Seems weird to be changing plans in the middle of things, but we are... *just keep smiling*

hey all! i'm getting married 09/08/07... it felt like i had forever to plan, and then last week i realized it's only 7 months away! eek! i do have a lot done though. i'm one of the first of my friends to get married, so i don't really know what i'm doing!!! my dad recently died (we hadn't spoken in years) and i don't have anyone to walk me down the aisle. my fiance's dad is the closest thing i've ever had to one, but would it be wrong to ask him to do the honor? or maybe have him escort me down the aisle and deliver me to my mom? what do you think?

I have only went dress shopping a couple times...this weekend will be number 3. I too put it off for a while and I was told I didn't have to worry about ordering a dress until January. One of the bridal stores told me that they will hold the order and then you can come in and get measured right before you decide to order it so they make sure you have the right size.

Another benefit of the corset back is that it makes it easier to adjust with your size...which of course means easier to take in.

I have about fifty pounds I want to lose by the wedding and I was told I had to be that weight by June/July for final fittings and could only lose like ten more pounds after that date to make sure my dress would fit in September.

I've decided I'm not even setting foot in a bridal store for dresses until January so I can be a little closer to my goal weight.

But I also know some girls who have their dress already and had a second to last fitting who are getitng married in September. I think it's an individual choice and if you plan to change or lose a lot of weight.

Hello brides to be...I also am getting married in September. I have a Sept. 22, 2007 wedding planned. I just booked the church and the recpetion hall last weekend so at least that's done. I just joined SPARK a few days ago because I want to lose about 45 lbs by wedding day. I am pretty sure I can do it, but encouragement is always a plus. Does anyone know when you should order your dress by? bridemaids dresses? I have heard conflicting messages about this and was just wondering what anyone else thought. Congrats everyone!

Wow, I leave sparkpeople for two months and lots of September brides pop up! I'm still new to sparkpeople, I've come back mainly to share in the community forums and read the articles/recipes. It's too time consuming to track everything here, since I have a program on my computer to do it that's faster since it's not dependant upon an internet connection.

I'm another September 8th bride (though FI could remember 09/08/07) We have the location booked, my dress and accessories bought, and half the bridal party chosen. I know how I want my hair done, what the cake will look like, and we're working on the band. My parents sent a check for the photographer, and he mailed them a contract, I'm not sure if they've signed it and sent it back yet. I'm having a lot of trouble with colors/flowers though, since FI wants dark blue and it's hard to find bouquets I like with that theme.

I'm planning long distance from Korea (FI and I are in the Air Foce) but we're going to be in the states in November, so we should be able to get a lot done then.

Hello all! I am getting married Sept 15, 2007. I don't have too much planned yet. We have the ceremony site and reception site booked. We've picked a photographer and sent in the deposit, and last night we bought our rings. We also know what invitations we're going to use, I'm going to print them off on the computer. The colors were easy to pick, red is my favorite color, so the bridesmaid dresses will be red. We have most of the wedding party picked. We just need one more bridesmaid, flower girls, and a ring bearer (or two).

don't remind me that it's only ten months away i have nothing planned yet and have no motivation for planning or losing weight. It's too cold and stormy here.

Megan,

it is way too early to start worrying about not having stuff done. You have over 10 months to get it all done. Plenty of time. Most of the stuff I have just gotten done recently because it has kind of fallen into my lap. And you do have one of the hardest things done already.

Congratulations. we will share an anniversary date.

This is what we have sorted already:

All that needs sorted really is me and my bridemaids, everything else is done with very little effort for me

I am a Sept 1, 2007 bride and here is my current dilemma. I need 1 more bridesmaid.
I have been the eternal bridesmaid and never a bride and have been in 9 weddings. So here are a couple of my options
1. College roommate and teammate: was in her wedding, not a whole lot of fun, hasn't met my fiance, but lives in the area, thinks highly of herself
2. Law school friend, have known her since first day of law school (back in 1999), don't talk to her a whole lot on the phone, email daily, has met fiance, lives 2 states away, will be a riot, adds height to girls side of wedding party (I'm 6'0")
3. Law school friend, have known since probably 2001, riot, lives 2 states away, have been known to "share a brain" with her, talk on the phone even less, but again, email daily. Has already threatened that she will wear a dress matching the bridesmaids even if she isn't one.

Any thoughts, suggestions? I'm at a loss of what to do. Of the people I have already chosen, I have only been in 2 of the weddings. Dilemmas.

Hello everybody! I'm new to the board, but I'm gettin' hitched next Septemeber 29! Congrats to you other brides-to-be as well, and kudos to those who are already so far into your planning...I thought I was doing well with my plans, but after reading what some of you have done already I realized I have a lot to do to catch up! I'm going dress shopping tomorrow, and I'm really excited, but I want to shed a few extra pounds, and also tone up my arms/back/shoulders a bit because I'm probably going to get a strapless dress. I don't have the colors selected yet, but I have some good ideas.

Take care everybody and have a healthy day!

Yesterday was our 1 year mark as well, we went out to celebrate. I admit I haven't been around much because I have a HUGE project I have to turn in for work on the 19th, so I've been more focused on that - almost to the point that I forgot I was getting married next year. The BF had to remind me what day it was.

We finally sealed the deal with the place where we are having the reception. We still have to figure out the music and the food.

No plans for the dress yet. I have to lose at leat ten pounds before I even bother trying anything on.

Hello all,

We've just chosen our wedding date for september 8, 2007, so I thought I would join you all.

So far we have the date booked for the wedding and the reception dinner. The BF is trying to find the live music from among his jazz musician friends. Other than that, things are still in the preliminary phase. I don't even want to think about trying gowns on yet - I want to see if I can lose the last 15 pounds first (I've already lost 35 in the past two years).

Good luck everyone!

Congrats on the down payment! I'm going dress shopping this weekend and am getting really excited that we're almost down to the year mark before our "I do's'.

I am doing good, except that I have (both ear)infections and a cold at the same time...ugh!!
So I haven't been in the mood to do anything.
But on a good note, we put a payment down on our wedding ceremony/reception!!! I am so happy!

Well, I am back in town, and boy did I gain some pounds! I drank too much Dr. Pepper, and I think that's what did it. It'll probably drop off in a few days b/c it was just soda. For the most part we ate pretty well, a lot of fish. Anyways, it looks like it's been pretty quiet in here. How is everyone doing?

Hi everyone! I'm not new to Sparkpeople, but am trying to be on here more. I'm working on planning our Sept 2007 wedding (the 15th). We've done all the big things, for the most part, and are just cruising along now. Our colors are chocolate brown, leaf green, ivory and gold.

I'm down about 15 pounds so far, and am hoping to lose another 20 before my sister's wedding in June. I'd love to lose 25, but we'll deal w/ that when the time comes. :-)

I'm addicted to sour punch candy straws...yummy!

And ice cream/donuts/skittles/sugar babies....mmm I could go on and on and on.

I have recently realized how evil they are though! Once I started using the food tracker religiously...geez that's a lot of EMPTY calories!

I live in Houston, but I am in the DFW area right now visiting my MOH in Irving.

I love candy as well. Not chocolate though. I really love moon pies!

I'm in the DFW area...in Arlington.

Congrats on your first pound Krista. You are on the right track! My problem is CANDY. I can eat good, healthy meals (and work out too) for days in a row, but I always seems to ruin it with 1000+ cals worth of candy every few days!

HI! Where in TX are you? I am in Houston.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday! I lost my very first pound! Well, really it was 3 lbs, b/c I somehow gained 2 pounds before I lost the 3. So I am just really excited about that!

Ahhh I'm so jealous of you all!!

I better get off my butt and get some things decided on! I've been holding out on seeing ceremony and reception sites because I want to see them in September to see how they look that time of year and how hot it is. I'm in TX and am considering an outdoor wedding and it could well still be in the 90s all Sept :(

I don't have any definite plans made yet...except I do have some colors in mind.

That was going to be my original date, but my MOH's husband's sister is getting married that day, and so I moved it down a week to make it more convenient for them (she's my best friend).

I don't really know what the buddy thing does...I might be interested though...I don't know? Tell me more about what you want out of a Bride Buddy. :D

What we've accomplished so far:

*Date: 9/7/07
*Colors: Aqua, black, white
*All 6 Bridesmaids, and 3 of 6 Groomsmen asked to be in wedding (fiance is a procrastinator!)
*Bought my dress! Now that I am losing weight, I may have that one altered (size 10) to be the reception dress. Then I will buy the same one in the correct size for the ceremony.
*Found the vendor for the save the dates and invitations, but haven't picked them out yet.

I still have a lot of work to do...this is going to be a pretty extravagant wedding! I am the only daughter so my parents are really going all out!

I'll be dancing with my husban, & my dad in my wedding dress, but then I will be taking the dress off. I am going to wear a white skirt that is right at the knee and a shirt from impression bridesmaids to spike it up. I really like your Idea with the dress though!

Just curious...

Is anyone going to change out of their gowns for the reception? I am thinking about buying another of the same gown and having it altered to be knee length. It's a simple white satin strapless with no beadwork or embroidery or anything, so hopefully it will be possible. I just want to be able to dance and enjoy the party.

I'm brand new to the site. I'm getting married September 8th of 2007. I'm looking for support and motivation in this weight loss struggle. I only need to lose about 15 lbs but I've tried a lot of different things and nothing seems to work so I thought I'd try out this site. I'm also short so any extra weight really shows. I hope some of us Sept. 07 brides can stick together.

Hello there! I'm getting married next September 2, 2007. I can not wait! But before I hit those bridal shops! I need to loose some weight! I went to try on dresses about a couple of months ago and came out of there crying! so from then on I said NO MORE! So I'm just starting to do something about it. I need to look good for my wedding. I do not want my bridesmaids to look better than the bride! I will just die if such a thing happens on my day! hahha well I hope that we can chit chat soon.
