Hello Everyone.
I just found this thread and I gotta say I think I fit! October 27, 2007 is my day so we just passed the 1 year countdown. Can I tell you....I'm getting a little stressed about the weight. This butt has got to get in gear!
I can't wait to catch up on this thread, looks like a supportive group :o)

| I hope you are ok too!! That sucks! As soon as you can you'll be back to working out, I'm sure. I went for a 30 min walk yesterday and hoping to get some exercise in tonight.

| hey girls! I got in a car accident today! Talk about unecessary STRESS!!!! So ridiculous. We're both okay, unfortunately, my air bags didn't deploy, and my seat belt didn't lock up, so I went into the steering wheel and I'm pretty sore. But, we're still good... Sigh, I had gone to the gym and I thought it was going to be such a good day!

Hi ladies! Sorry I've been MIA...it's been a looong week with work. It's a miracle i even work out at all I think at times like this! Well, i managed to go 3 times this week for about an hour each time. Ok. But then I weighed myself and guess what? I ALSO gained 2 pounds. I'm choosing to believe it's water weight=) The hazards of weighing yourself TOO often I guess. It can be discouraging. Oh well. The other bad news is my girlfriends are coming down for the weekend for a halloween pub crawl so working out is not going to happen for a few days I'm sure. Plus, they picked out the costumes which consist of short shorts and tank tops..it's supposed to be come sort of 80's style track and field team. There will be like 8 of us dressed up so that will be fun, but meanwhile my legs look like tree stumps in shorts. Oh well, maybe this will motivate me more to keep working out. I'm sure there will be pictures, so if I look better than I think I will I might actually post one of them!

| Hi! I finally worked out today! I've had a cold and not feeling like doing anything strenuous, maybe its the flu, oh well. I walked to and from class, like always, and did a 20 min. video. Maybe I'll do the video again later, hmmmm......

Hi everyone, I am an October 2007 bride, too - we're pretty sure the date will be 10/12/07. We live in Chicago now, but we're getting married in Massachusetts since we're both from New England and 90% of the people we know live there. My colors are cranberry, ivory, and dark brown. I've got a long way to go, but I now have even more motivation to get there! I'd like to be down to 200lbs before I start my hardcore dress shopping, hopefully in late January. I'll be browsing the stores in December with my b'maids, but I won't be able to hit 200 by then without a miracle! :)

Morning Ladies, I did 20 minutes on the treadmill and right now I feel good and alert, not tired at all. But I'm so depressed! We went shopping for Halloween costumes and I couldn't find anything I wanted because I was like 2 sizes too big!!! All they had left were smalls. So I settled for this half angel half devil costume that I hate because it makes me look even bigger. I guess I should have started sooner. Oh well, next year I'll have too many options to choose from!

I'm with you on working out in the AM! I love working out in the morning, but it's just so hard to get up and do it!! But once you do it, it's done and over with. That way when you workout at night, it's kinda like you think of other stuff to do. At least that's what I do. I'll be like 'oh I have dishes and laundry to do" so I'll do that instead.
WE can do this!!

| Don't fret Amanda (Anschuier?), it's just from stress, that happens. I try not to weigh myself too much, it never moves for me. Maybe once a month, just to keep track. Don't get discouraged! I'm up for a challenge, I'm trying to get myself to work out right now, I can't breathe through my nose because of a cold and it's making me tired but I'm gonna try!! woo hoo turbo jam!

Ok Amanda, I've got a challenge for you and anyone else who wants to join. I have realized that I need to start doing my workouts in the morning before work. But getting up earlier is going to be hard for me so I'm starting with 20 min. on the treadmill. That should be easy, plus it will jump start my metabolism and give me energy for the day. Getting my workout over with first thing will help me get back on track...(I've had family with us the whole week so I've slacked a little).
Anyways, I'll be here to report my workout every morning, I'm going to try to start tomorrow.
Let's get back in the game!!! Who's with me?!!

I may not be an Oct bride anymore. We are in discussions on moving up to Sept 1! I don't want to wait any longer, and that's the earliest day we can go to for me to have enough vacation time for the honeymoon. But I'm still going to stay on this message board. I like you all to much!!
As far as gaining 2 lbs, be happy it wasn't 10! But just get your mind frame back into the game. Cut portions here and there. You'll lose it no prob!

| any subject is welcome. As far as a speech, I always avoided them, but when I had to do them I made sure that I went first because then you aren't always thinking of it, it's done right away and it's a big relief, and your not comparing yours to everyone elses. Good Luck!

| I never thought about doing math in my head, that's an awesome idea. I used to be in drama but just standing up in class is nerve-racking, don't know why. I'm doing a speech next week about my mango and black bean salsa, it's pretty delicious and healthy. I'm excited. Thanks for the good ideas!(This is all so off topic for this thread, sorry)

| Mae! My dad always says you can't give a good speech unless you're a little bit nervous. Take lots of deep breaths, think about math in your head (i don't know why it works, but i swear it will)... Take a stone to put in your pants pocket to rub... good luck, I'm sure you'll do wonderfully!

| The first thing I do after I workout is get on here and track my calories, it makes me feel good. And yes, I am trying to plan one thing at a time but it's all so overwhelming. Right now all I'm worried about is speech class, public speaking freaks me out, I'm hoping for a C. Anyone have any good advice about nerves? LOL

| Angie, one good way of making sure you go to the gym is to come on here everyday after to post that you went. That way you'll feel like yu have to tell someone therefor you'll do it. That's what I'm trying to do on my sparkteam. My team is Curves are Beautiful, and right now we do a weekly weightloss challenge. It's the same thing as what I mentioned but there a few girls over there that are already involved. We start our week out on a monday, so come over there and join. That was you have to go on the post and post your workout times for the day. It's fun and a nice little competition!! The link is on my sparkpage, if anyone feels like joining the challenge!

Hi girls! Glad to hear everyone is doing well, even if we are having a little trouble squeezing our workouts in! We can't be too hard on ourselves either, bc that just makes you feel discouraged and want to give up. just be proud that you are trying everyday, and not just living in denial. You're being proactive, and everyone has good and bad days. We all have a life too, and we can't scarifice that everyday...its all about balance!
Sorry to hear about the A.m workouts...I am SO not a morning person, so I am feeling your pain right now. BUT, on the bright side...if you work out earlier then your calorie burning potential for the whole day is better. So thats a big bonus!
Maefrost, don't worry about not planning wedding stuff yet...i think the trick is to start with one thing. When I first got engaged, I wanted to plan everything all at once and i was asking my fiance his opinion on everything. He wasn't being too responsive and I asked him if he just didn't care...and he said i was being overwhelming. He told me he would be 100% involved, but only if I asked his opinion about only one thing at a time. I was NOT allowed to start moving on until that one thing was done and over with. It has really helped me stay centred and not freak out. So just pick one thing, like say the venue, and just work on that until its booked and the deposit is paid. then go on to the next thing.
Well better run, wow way to blab on hay?=) I'm off early from work all next week, so you all are my witnesses that I am going to go to the gym EVERY day after work for at least a cardio workout.

I've been so busy too! This past week, I started my new job.. And I quickly found out that I need to work out BEFORE work, because by the time I get home, I am wiped out. So, I'm not going to meet with my trainer this week, and just make sure to make it to the gym in the mornings before work! Which means I will have to wake up early, around 5:15 am or so.. Give me some encouragement, girls! Yikes.
In other news, since I am home, I went to H & M this weekend (I think their clothes tend to run small), and I bought a size Large top, which is amazing, 1.) because last year at this time, I barely fit into an XL, and 2.) I have a big chest. So yay!
Anyone else have any big successes this week?

| Hey I haven't been on lately, Super busy! I've been trying to squeeze in some workouts, but not doing so well with that. I'm planning on doing an hour walk tonight, and then 30 mins of kickboxing. I have a wedding to go to tomorrow. So eating well may be tough. Good luck to everyone!!

Oh by the way Amanda, my HW was actually 205, but by the time I started SP I was down to 198, so you and I are almost identical in this weight loss thing!!! How about that? I think we are doing great!!!

Thanks ladies! This is a very supportive group we have here. I think what I'm going to do is concentrate mostly on strength training and lighten up on the cardio. I get really overwhelmed if I try to do too much and I've noticed that when I stick to strength training I lose quicker. I need to work on my ab muscles anyway.
I weigh in on Saturdays, what about you guys?

| omg, i am totally the same with the belly fat. i don't know what the deal is. I know that my NOGA class is helping, but that's only once a week. weight training will help.. and the more you lose, the more sculpted your body will be.

Welcome to the site April! This is a great place to find support...about both weight loss and weddings=)
Mrs. TLC, I'm sorry to hear about your frustrating struggle...I've heard lots of people say that the stomach is the hardest place to lose! I'm not sure if you've tried all those things what else to suggest, but I have heard that stress can produce cortisol, which can store fat around the midsection...do you have a lot of stress that might be contributing? Maybe talk to your Dr and see if they have any ideas. Other than that strength training (ab work) is a good thing to do and building muscle in general. Cardio is great for fat burning and calorie burning, but muscles also help burn fat and calories faster too. so try a combo of both and see if that helps things move a little faster. If I see any info I'll send it your way!
As for you other ladies...how is the working out going? I haven't heard anything for a few days. I went to the gym again today for 40 minutes. i only did cardio though, didn't have the ambition to do any strength training.

Hey, is anyone struggling with belly fat? With all the weight I've lost its not coming off of my belly and its so frustrating!! I have almost no waistline - my ribs practically rest on my hips - so when I weigh in and do my measurements I don't lose inches. It's coming off of my face and arms and legs and even my hands!!! But not my tummy!! I know that you can't target weight loss in specific areas, but isn't there something I can do? I've tried cutting out saturated fat and using olive oil and peanut butter, I barely eat red meat, maybe once or twice a month. Maybe I just need to really concentrate on strength training. Any ideas?

Hey everyone! I've been watching the 10/07 Brides group and wondering where everyone is, and you're here. Good to know!
Anschuier - that NOGA sounds fun. I worked out with a tv program on FIT TV, and it was called Zen Aerobics. It was a combination of regular aerobics with yoga and Pilates moves incorporated in. What a workout!!
Welcome to all the new ladies! I have been out of the loop for a while. This last week the lbs just kind of fell off and then I had a giant burger so I'm trying to keep them from coming back! My short range goal right now is to lose 20 more by Christmas, although I'm hoping for Thanksgiving. Right now I have 17 more to go. Anyone want to join me?

Another member and I, Mrs_TLC, created "October 2007 Brides" group- we could post our challenges and stuff there, if you want? Or we can just post here. Whatever you gals think.
I saw my trainer yesterday, so I'm guaranteed a tough one hour workout at least once a week. Today is my first day of my new job, so I'm not sure I'm going to the gym tonight. But tomorrow is "NOGA" class- which means "Not Yoga"- but really is- it is a Yoga, Dance, Pilates combo. It rocks!

Hi Girls...sorry I've been MIA. Had some future in law stuff do to....birthdays, but when it's a split family you have to do everything 2X=) I have been working out though...Kinda slumped over the weekend, but I am taking a course for work, and I got 4 assignments done over the weekend. I was way behind, now i'm a little ahead so I guess it is justified. I worked out thursday last week for one hour, and today for 40 minutes. I'm up for a challenge...don't know if I'll win the way I've been going lately but it'll probably help me make sure I'm at the gym a few more times a week=)
I'm still a little new here, so i'm not really sure where we would post things like how long everyone worked out and stuff...but if someone can take care of that (or teach me how) then i'd be in for sure=)
Gotta run and eat...just got home at 7pm after work, the gym and getting an oil change for my car. Whew! Busy busy. hope everything is great with you girls and let me know about the challenge...I will keep you posted with my work out hours (or minutes as the case may be=)

I just feel like I KNOW I need to lose weight, and I KNOW I need to eat healthier, and I KNOW I shouldn't have a bite of that cake, but I still do it. Darn it. I have to keep thinking about our wedding, and what I want in the end!

| Don't worry! i only went shopping once, bc my mom happened to be in town, so it was just for fun and to get ideas...nothing too serious. But i did at least find a style i like in case I don't find anything else. i probably won't seriously start looking to buy until Christmas!

| You guys are seriously dress shopping already?! I feel left out. I wasnt' planning on going for another 6 mths! Even then I thought was too early. I can't go now, I want to lose at least 50lbs before I even start trying on dresses!! We haven't even talked to the church yet. WE are planning on making some final choices on Sunday. I dont' see my Fiance, Jason, till the weekends, we work seperate shifts. Man I seriously feel like I'm behind schedule!

I am going to go check out your pics as soon as I finish posting this. I have picked out my dress- the Maggie Olympia. In fact, I am expecting it in any day now. I went ahead and ordered it because I was afraid of it getting discontinued. I'm a little second-guessing of my dress since I've gotten a lot skinnier, but I know in my heart it's the right dress. I can send you the link to me in my dress if you want.
We picked 10-06-07 because my photog said that was the best time in Minnesota for the fall colors!

Wow, there are 2 more brides with the October 6, 2007 date! I picked that one because I'm from Canada and that weekend is our Thanksgiving long weekend. I went home this weekend though, and checked out my venue to see what it will look like this time next year and it was beautiful...now just have to hope we don't get bad weather or a giant windstorm next year and blow all the leaves away=) I had a blast at home though, and although I broke my "rules" a little and partied too much, it was worth it! I posted pics of my weekend with my bridesmaids on my spark page photo gallery and it's pretty obvious some of us were having a little too much "fun"=)
Anyways, its now October so happy negative one wedding anniversary to the october brides. this time next year some of you will be busy busy and some of us will be married already! wow! Hard to believe, I'm sure it will be here faster than any of us think!
ps has anyone picked out thier dresses already? i know some girls that have but i was also planning to seriously start shopping in November and hopefully buy in december....hope I'm not falling behind!

Ideally I would like to lose 20 pounds by the time of my wedding. But for now, I really want to lose 10 pounds before I start dress shopping in mid-December. I know it will be hard to lose ten pounds in two months, but I think if I commit, I can do it! For me, it will just be readjusting to my old lifestyle, and by that, I mean life before I met my fiancee, two years ago!

I was excited to see a lot of other girls getting married next October...hooray for fall weddings=) I'm getting hitched Oct 6.07 as well....I'm not neccessarily trying to lose weight by the wedding, although that would be ideal. I'm mostly trying to create a healthier lifestyle bc I find with every year that goes by I gain a bit more weight, and I suddenly realized, hey...this isn't going to stop all on its own unless I do something about it. But it's great to have a date like a wedding to focus on and keep me going! Congratulations to all you other brides and good luck with your goals. I would love to chat or email anytime about weight, weddings or whatever!=)

| That would be cool. We could do a countdown to next October. I'm anxiously awaiting it even though I don't have any real planning done. This weekend is his birthday party. We're having a big BBQ on Saturday and then we are taking a party boat out on Sunday for everyone who sticks around. So, I need to not only make sure I do all my strength and cardio workouts, but I have to make sure I have healthy things to eat and drink over the weekend. That's what is hard for me, when we hang out with friends. I want to eat and drink like everyone else, but I can't. Not if I want to look good in my dress next Oct.

That would be awesome Amanda! Right now I am really trying to focus on strength training and cardio. The food part isn't that hard for me, I love healthy food. But I'm up for motivation, challenges, tips and ideas, and I'm willing to share what I know and what I find out so I'm glad to be here too!!! This isn't my first marriage but I count it as the first. My hubby is the most perfect man and I want our wedding to be just as perfect and I want to look perfect so I'm very serious about all this. Plus I feel sooo much better since I started. Hi everyone! I'm October 6, 2007. We'll be married in beautiful Yosemite National Park. My colors are navy blue and sage green. I can't believe its only a year away. I found my dress but haven't ordered it yet, and the planning has halfway begun, but oh I can't wait. I just can't wait.

| Thanks Sandie. Sorry you've been eating bad foods lately. I know the feeling- I've been kind of eating poorly, too. I am really excited today, because I hit my halfway goal!! That means, hopefully, that I can do this before my wedding! Yay!

Hi Sandie.. I'm not totally sure what kind of challenge.. I was just hoping to have a buddy with a similar date (we're only a week apart) and someone to keep me on track.
